Morning Meanderings… Sunday Salon

Good morning!

Normally on Sundays I talk about the past week and show you what books have come in to my home, either for review…or self inflicted.

Today, this morning, however… I am in Fargo Minnesota finishing up a girls weekend and my books that came in… are back in Brainerd and I can not recall what they are well enough to share them at this time.

However… I can share my week.  Typical week this past week but a fun one. Monday I have a lot of people over and that was fun and my house has not been more clean in quite a while. 😀  Tuesday was book club which is always fun, even when I am not overly thrilled with the book.  Wednesday I did not have my usual volunteer commitments as it is spring break so instead I came home and watched Survivor and Modern Family with my hubby….. no crazy over committed evenings are the best.  Thursday I worked and prepped for the weekend, and Friday after running around to the gym and to the grocery store….

left for Fargo with three friends.

Ok… let me clarify.  Fargo is nothing like the terrible movie called…. ummm…. errrr…. Fargo.

IN the movie, people talk with a “you betcha” and a lot of “ayyyyy” and “oh ok”.  I do not talk like that.  The movie is probably number one for making me angry…. all time.  😀  Hated it.  Really I did.

What Fargo is actually is a fun town to shop in, great restaurants and about three hours from my home.  It is a jaunt… yes, but occasionally a fun trip to make.  Last time we came here was three years ago.  So we shopped, and we ate, and we watched a movie.  Good times.  😀

Soon we will pack up and head towards home.  I have a floor hockey game at 4 pm today.

Life is full, but good.

What does your Sunday look like?  Any plans?

  1. Ha! As soon as I read you were in Fargo I was going to make a joke about wood chippers, but you beat me to it.

If you watch all the Coen Brothers movies as an entirety rather than individual movies, they are far better. They always incorporate over-the-top accents into their films.

  2. Frankly I can’t stand Coen Brothers movies. About the only movie I’ve walked out on in the past 20 years was one of theirs. So, I’m glad you’re in Fargo, MN having fun with your friends. Also happy to hear you and Al had a rare evening home together to just chill. With your busy schedules, I doubt that happens very often.

Our weekend is full of March Madness on TV. We’ll both suffer from basketball withdrawal after this is over, but then of course baseball season is coming up.

      1. O Brother Where Art Thou…Raising Arizona…The Big Lebowski…No Country for Old Men. Loved the first two, the other two were pretty good and enjoyed Fargo, although didn’t love it.

  3. I can’t even begin to keep up with you…but it sounds like fun…we just finished the papers…are about to have more coffee…and then read…it’s a bit foggy and chilly here today…

    1. I wouldn’t bother Kathy, I thought it was repulsive…. but I took it a littler personally too as they mention Brainerd Minnesota in it and show some pretty unflattering scenes to go with that. 🙂

  4. I did not like the movie either. Since I spent most of my free time out on the deck reading a book, my house is in desperate need of attention. During the basketball games I will clean a bit and do landry. I’ll try not to pick up a book and head out the the deck! LOL

  5. I agree with you on the “you betcha” and a lot of “ayyyyy”. It kinda drove me crazy. Other than that, the movie was ok.

Glad you’re having a good time this weekend. Today is lots of laundry. Later I plan on getting some reading done and watching The Amazing Race.

Seems like WP is having commenting issues today, so I’m using my Twitter account.

  6. I know what you mean about stereotypes. Everyone from Chicago is not a mobster and we don’t all carry guns. Honestly, I’ve been asked since, you know, the city is soooo very dangerous. That’s what Hollywood would have you believe.

  7. We have friends (here in NV) who are from Minnesota and they laugh hysterically (spelling) at that movie and say it’s just like that. And they LOVE Love love Minnestoa (and are moving back–all their family is there).
Personally, I didn’t like the movie and I know stereotypes are just that –exagerations of things, but I do love a little bit of regional uniqueness.
LOL—although I know IT’S NOT like that. I can’t wait to see Minnesota, since we will visit them!
Here in NV- Hmmmmm…..what is our stereotype? Brothels? (I’m gonna do a post on them), gambling? (I have a slot machine in my garage, but we never go down town to gamble– it’s BORING)
It really is NOT sin city. (I guess that would be ours huh?–drinking, gambling, call girls?) LOL
My daughter in law is a Pastor of a Methodist church, so I am debunking that stereotype.
Fargo was a really weird movie. I bet the town is a nice little town.

  8. Glad to hear Fargo is not like the movie. Yeeesh. I feel your pain about the actors not being real in the movie. Every time I see a tv show or movie with characters who are supposed to be long term New Englanders, I shudder. Not an accent you can learn. You have to be born there with about 6 generations behind you that were born there.

  9. I had planned a trip to Fargo this weekend with my mother in law and sister in law! But my mom moved her things from Pierre to Bismarck so I didn’t make it! Imagine if I had run into you at the mall though! Hope you had a great time!
