It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Hello and welcome to another fun addition of It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading?

This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I love being a part of this and I hope you do too!  As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme.  I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment telling me how many you visited.  **You do not have to have a blog to participate! You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.

This past week was BBAW (Book Blogger Appreciation Week).  This is a great week to celebrate those of us who chat books and review books doing this crazy blog thing 😛  I truly had a BLAST this week but between work, BBAW, and evening commitments almost every night…. by the end of the week I had not posted one book review ( however a book discussion), and hardly read a thing.  😯

Here is what was posted last week:

My BBAW Interview Swap with the awesome and amazing Lu from Regular Rumination

BBAW Post:  How Do I DO Community?  (You may have asked how I do so much in life and still find time to blog… here is my response 😀

BBAW Post:  Advice on what works… and what I would like to try

Bookies Review Of The Postmistress by Sarah Blake and the food we served

with it

Back by popular demand… the Word Shakers on line read a long has beentweaked, and updated and a book has been chosen!

Banned Books Weeks is coming!!!  Jump On The Banned Wagon With Me!!!

So as you see…. my week was very BBAW.  😀

As for this week… I think I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  After a HUGE start to September at work, it looks like these next two weeks will slow down a bit.  I currently have in too many hours for the month so I am taking an extra day off each of the next two weeks to get my hours back where they should be…  this means… I get to get my exercise back on track, and my reading and reviewing.  AHHHHH…. feels so good…

I am not going to give myself a heavy week as I have much to catch up on from the past couple of weeks… but, always the optimist…. here is what I hope to touch on:

Yes, yes, yes… I have been talking about this book for weeks and yes… it has been in my home since the first week of June…..  so this is what I would call a PRIORITY READ this week.  (I also just picked it up on audio so I may listen to it, depending on which way my time frame goes… 😛

This one was given to me by my friend Millie (*waves*).  She knows me sooo well…. this type of book is right up my alley as I have such a heart for kids in crisis.

I recently read a review on this book, entered a contest, and then won the book.  It arrived at my house yesterday.  Normally a book does not have this amazingly quick turn around but I loved the review and 9-11 is still pretty fresh in my mind from the anniversary last week.

I am currently in the second book in this series and LOVING IT!   If all goes as I hope… I will have this series finished out by the end of this week and will be dancing around to tell you about it.

I think I am good with audio this week as I have one finishing up in the jeep, but have another waiting that I has started and need to finish, the one in the house I started today and my IPOD still has a bit to go with In The Woods.

Now I really want to know what you are reading this week!  Please add your Monday What Are You Reading post to the link below where it says Click Here.

  1. I wish, wish, wish I could start on the Chaos Walking series, at the moment I have too many review books lol. Glad you’re having a few more days off and hope you get some catch-up time in there.
    Happy reading 🙂

  2. Great reading list for the week. I recently read THAT DAY IN SEPTEMBER for my anniversay post and yeah, it’s definitely a memorable read. It doesn’t go too into the events that they become overly graphic but it certainly puts you in the midst of this man’s life as he saw things unfold that day. Be prepared….the ending (his reflections that is) are quite moving….

  3. I have No Longer a Slumdog but haven’t read it yet and In the Woods is one of those that I have checked out from the library twice and never got to it before it was due. I really want to read it because I’ve heard it’s good. Your review just might be the deciding factor of whether I’ll try to check it out a third time.

    1. Angie, I started the No Longer A Slumdog at church (LOL) I was early and that’s where Millie has given it to me…. it really started out well and reminds me a lot of Kite Runner and the movie Slumdog.

I am listening to The Woods on audio and getting into it. I am on part 2 of 3 so we will see… seems like I have a lot of audio left and wonder what will keep it going. 😀

  4. Oh, you know I’m so excited for you to read The Monsters of Men! It’s stunning! I think you will really enjoy it. And I’m really curious about The Night Circus, I’ve been online with their new interactive website and it’s made me want to pick up the book. So, I can’t wait to hear about your thoughts on both books!

Have a fabulous reading week!!! 🙂

  5. Hi
This is my first time participating in your meme. I have been busily hopping around visiting everyone’s posts. So far I have visited 18 🙂

The Night Circus is everywhere at the moment, I’ll be interested to see what you think!

  6. I need to find my copy of The Color Purple for the Banned book week. I heard it was on the list of challenged/banned books (I wonder if it was mainly in certain states?). I remember it as being a great book, masterfully written. A shame to be on the list, but then seems like making it onto the banned book list is almost as good as a P.R. campaign. I know I’m always curious about banned books, tempted to buy them just because they were listed. LOL.

I’m looking forward to hearing your opinion of Night Circus – love the cover.

  7. Not much reading last week, as I too was very busy with BBAW.
It was well worth the time and effort everyone put into it.

    have a great week

    carol

  8. I’ve heard good things about In the Woods – can’t wait to hear what you think of it! Very busy here, too. I need to go read that blog post of yours on how you manage to fit in so much blogging in a busy life!

Enjoy your books this week –

    Sue

  9. i just learned the first of the Ness books is waiting on the hold shelf at the library. i ordered it on my husband’s card as i’ve about tapped mine out.

I’m going to have to accept that most of the books flowing in over the next month or so are mostly just to get my hands on them, to flip through them, dip in, get a feel etc. I can’t hope to read them all in the allotted time especially since many won’t renew for me. 3 weeks and that’s it for weeks or months.

I’ve ordered Owen Meany and hope to join Word Shakers. And whoa that would make a most wordilicious blog name!

  10. Oooh, The Night Circus sounds great! 😀 I can’t wait to see what you think of it Sheila! 😀

I hope you have an awesome week, and that you enjoy all your books. 😀

  11. I want to read all you books this week!! Took me so long to do my post today with Amazon shutting down the link gadget in Blogger and have to make, format and try to get them close to where I wanted them in my post, lol. Plus my NASCAR race was rained out yesterday and just started on tv so I am multitasking, 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful week!!!

  12. I really commend you for all the time you make for the book blogging community! I have been having a hard time keeping up lately, but I hope to have more time soon. Sigh. Never enough time.

  13. You have some good ones on your list to read this week. I hope you enjoy them! I’ve made it around to 10 blogs this week. I rarely remember to come back and tell you so figured I’d do it before commenting. 🙂 Have a great week!

  14. The Night Circus is most definitely going on my wishlist… I’ve heard so many great things about it this past week or so. Everyone seems to be raving about it.

I was lucky enough to be offered a review copy of That Day In September by Artie himself and I’m glad I read it. It’s an interesting insight into one man’s story of that day and beyond.

P.S. – Thanks for taking the time to drop by my blog and comment. I hope you enjoy Agent 6. Have you read the first two books in the trilogy?

  15. Audio! Audio! Jim Dale reads the audio and I’m so excited. I think I HAVE to listen to it. Even though I’ve had an ARC of it on my shelf for at least a month. :-/

Just to clarify for anyone confused, I’m talking about The Night Circus. In fact, I have an audible credit so I should go use it on that.

Also, I really want to read That Day in September, so I’m looking forward to your thoughts.

  16. I am trying to read Night Circus, it really isn’t something I would usually read but since it was sent to me I thought I would give it a try. I am not really that far into it so there is hope for it, just not sure yet….lol

  17. Hi Sheila! I’m yet to receive that email from you. I’m not sure if you’ve already emailed and I haven’t received it but if you could pls email me that’d be great…thank you!
