Good morning and Happy Saturday! Cloudy and dreary here in Central Minnesota today… I am a little bummed as I was hoping to get on my bike today and put in some miles. Instead I think I will be visiting the library, maybe start planning my “what to bring” for next Sunday when I leave for BEA (SSQQUUEEEE!!!)
Every Saturday Alyce from At Home With Books puts up a meme called Snapshot Saturday. It’s a time when we can post a picture we have taken (or a friend or someone we know). Maplewood Minnesota:

That’s me – far right. Last Saturday was gorgeous in the cities and by mile two I took off the jacket as it was too warm already. I can use a lot more days like that. 😀
As for the book cravings… I have a little collection from around the blogs over the past couple of weeks.
East Of Eden by John Steinbeck (Found at Lydia’s The Lost Entwife) *Yes, an older title but one I have yet to read.
Primitive by Mark Nykanen (found at Sherrie’s Just Books)
The Midwife’s Confession by Diane Chamberlain (Found at Jennifer from Rundpinne)
The Bitter End by Jennifer Brown (Found at Nancy from A Musing Reviews)
Just blogging about these books this morning makes me excited to get my hands on them. How about you, any books you found out there lately that just make you want to drop everything and READ? 😛

East of Eden is another of those books read many, many, MANY years ago…I’m old, LOL. I remember that it was great, though.
Love the snapshot!
The Midwif’e’s Confession came for me last week.
Here’s MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
Enjoy the book Laurel…. I hope to get my hands on it too 😀
Happy Saturday honey! 🙂
To you too Rebecca 😀
Isn’t it great to be back out on the bike? It was a long winter. Nice photo!
It was a long winter – and days like this it feels like it is still not over…. cold and dreary and I just heard there were a few snow flakes spotted.
Great that you had good weather for your ride last week. Annoying rainy weather here today… and I wanted to get some gardening in. Guess I’ll have to read instead. 🙂
Leslie weather is bad here too… I am feeling lazy and I did not do a whole lot yesterday either. 😛
I envy you all of these magnificent bike trails. It will soon be pouring here…we are racing to get the lawn done…
I finished the lawn on Wednesday for the same reason – it called for rain the rest of the week. Tomorrow it is suppose to get nice again – I will have a big week getting ready to leave next weekend.
I was just talking about Steinbeck at work yesterday. I haven’t read East of Eden or Grapes of Wrath yet. My sister is a huge fan of his writing and really enjoyed both books. I also want to read The Bitter End and Hate List by Jennifer Brown.
I just got a book yesterday that I had been craving since I first heard of it: Sideways on a Scooter: Life and Love in India by Miranda Kennedy. I heard about that one through either Booklist or Library Journal and also saw it on the NPR website. Another book I’ve been craving: The Lost Girls. I saw that one on your blog and can’t wait to read it. I’ve already read a Kindle sample and I liked it.
I hope you have a great day even though it is dreary. A visit to the library is the perfect way to spend a Saturday.
Hate List is the only one I have read out of the four you mentioned. 😀
I have never heard of Sideways On A Skooter but that sounds interesting!
I never learned to ride a bike, so jealous of your adventures. Enjoy your books they all look great.
I so love my bike – I am hoping this week to really put some miles on it 😉
I want to read East of Eden as well. Great photo as well 🙂
Thanks Diane!
Hi!
Great looking team. Thanks for the link of Primitive. It was a really good book. Have a great day!
Sherrie
Just Books
Sure Sherrie… I realized I still had that one saved to link to from a long time ago 😀 I still want to read it.
I was watching all the bikers in the rain this morning and hoping this wasn’t one of the tours you had signed up for!
LOL…. I wonder what tour they were on? I do not have any now until June – the first weekend is The Tour Of Lakes (Brainerd) and then the following weekend is the MS 150.
I’m glad you had nice weather for that ride and hope that the weather cooperates again for you soon.
I dropped everything this week and read Two Kisses for Maddy – it was a tearjerker, but a good read.
Thanks Alyce… so far looks like sun for tomorrow… I am hoping for a good bike ride then…. *fingers crossed*
Great looking team you have there! I picked up East of Eden this week also from my mom’s bookshelves. It is one of those books on my bucket list. The size of it sure is intimidating! Everyone says it is a good read though!
I think it needs to me on my bucket list Beth 😀
I’d love to join a tour. I usually just bike with a group of family/friends.
Mine is here in case you want to check it out.
The tours are wonderful – if you can find them in your area I highly recommend them… they are not a race, just go at your own speed. The people are fun and I always have such a great time.
Nice pic, Sheila.
I liked East of Eden!
Thanks Mary – Lydia made the review of that book sound WONDERFUL!
I have East of Eden on my shelf, waiting. I picked it up at a library sale after an earlier burst of book blog buzz about it.
I think I have it too… I have a shelf of classics and I am pretty sure it is on it. 😀
I’m not sure I like Steinbeck, though, and it’s a large volume. So I’ve been putting it off.
I just looked it up … I was thinking it was smaller for some reason…. 601 pages. 😯
Uhhh… yeah….
Yeah, not small. o.O
East of Eden…..one of my favorites!!!
Ok, I have to ask as I can’t figure it out. Is the snapshot taken outside of the YMCA in Maplewood?? Looks so familiar, but can’t place it.
We saw everyone biking and I commented to my hubby that you must be riding in there somewhere! Glad you had great weather for the ride!
Maybe… I thought it was the community center but it would be the YMCA.. yes we are in Maplewood here:D
Could be….there is a maplewood Community Center on White Bear Ave.
I think that is what it is Jen… I am not sure – my only time in Maplewood is for that bike ride… once a year… same place 😛
