Morning Meanderings… Hey Hey Hey – Hello May!!!!

Good morning!  I got up too late yesterday morning to do a morning meandering post before I had my class.  This morning I am trying to be pro active and get this one done early 😀

I was supposed to be on the first Minnesota bike ride of the year today in Lakeville Minnesota but funky weather made me cancel out.  I know… I just honestly did not want to ride in the rain.  If the weather does turn out to be nice today I am going to ride the Brainerd trail instead.

I have another one next Saturday – hopefully the weather is better.

And now… here we are in May.  MAY.  Can you believe it?

I think it was a fairly good month for reading… lets recap…

Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott

The Priest’s Graveyard by Ted Dekker

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

Heart Of Deception by M L Malcolm

The Sandalwood Tree by Elle Newmark

Sunday At Tiffany’s by James Patterson

Open House by Elizabeth Berg

Little Princes by Conor Grennan

Hate List by Jennifer Brown

Massacre At Mountain Meadows

Dreamland by Sarah Dessen

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas by John Boyne

The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly

The Lost Girls by Jennifer, Holly, and Amanda

Where She Went By Gayle Forman

What Good Is God by Philip Yancey

My 2011 Where Are You Reading map is advancing right along and I am having so much fun with it!

I will cover more May stuff tomorrow…. and April comment winners as well 😀

          1. Used to give them out every year when I was a kid, and then in college we did, at least a few times. But it’s been too long. And when I didn’t live in the Midwest, I didn’t think people would know what they were …

  1. Your life always sounds so busy and exciting. I love the sound of these bike rides you go on. Have a brilliant May and well done on all the books you read in April.

    1. Thanks Vivienne – I am bummed to have canceled today’s but it it cold today and winds in Lakeville are up to 38 miles per hour and – there was snow on the ground when I woke up. It would have been a miserable ride 😉

  2. You did a fantastic job with reading and reviewing last month! I only finished 10 books last month but did quite a bit of starting books and not finishing them. I’ve had a sinus infection for the past two weeks which takes its toll on my reading and reviewing.

What was your favorite book you read last month? I know I found some good ones here to add to my TBR list like Open House and Sunday at Tiffany’s. I even found one to buy for my library (The Lost Girls) and recommended it to my colleague who loves travel memoirs.

I hope you have a wonderful May. It is one of my favorite months (along with June and July). Bring on the sun and warmer days! Sadly May Day here in northeast Ohio is rainy and colder 😦

    1. That’s a hard question. 🙂 My first thought is to say Little Princes (non fiction) but then Hate List was pretty powerful for YA (reminded me a bit of SPEAK), and then you can not discount The Boy In The Striped Pajamas for historical fiction that will tear you up! Oh and Lincoln Lawyer was a fantastic mystery that gave me a new appreciation for Conelly….

Gah…. what was the question again? 😛

  3. Love reading your Morning Meandering posts.
Hello May…hard to believe it is here.

I hope the weather is better for biking; April was a bit of a wash out for me. I really like how you are keeping track of your biking miles at the end of this post. I do believe that I will start the same thing for my Sunday Posts, if you do not mind.

Looks like you had a nice reading month in April. Lately, I am lucky if I finish 4 books per month.

Where are you Reading map; I am having a tough time of it as I am reading many fantasy books with no real world setting. How can I go about mapping those type of books? Any suggestions?

    1. As you can see with my blading/biking stats April was awful for getting outside…. I am hopeful that March will put great numbers behind both of these activities 🙂

I have a few books not on the map too…. or like in the case of What Good Is God – he travels throughout the book.

Maybe go with the authors home state?

      1. Good idea; I will go with the author’s home state. I read far too many books that do not have a real location and I do not want to miss out mapping their location.

    1. I agree Leslie…. not Spring 😦

I multi task my books and audios… the audios really pull my count up as I am listening to them in the car, in the kitchen and in the bedroom/bathroom as I get ready each day. My book count was good to though in April and that is exciting 😀

  4. Hey, hey, hey! Now I’ll have Yogi Bear on my mind all day. Oh well, I could have worse things on my mind, right? Glad you’re bike riding again.

  5. I’m with you Sheila–yea for May! You had a great reading month. Me–not so good. Hoping to increase my reading this month….

  6. GREAT list of books. I am going to be reading The Priest’s Graveyard by Ted Dekker soon. Have fun on your next bike ride.

  7. Wow, you had a great month of reading in April! It’s too bad you missed the ride, but I completely understand not wanting to be out in the rain. My husband’s ride was blessed with perfect weather (he said he wouldn’t have gone if it had been raining either).

Hmmmm... what do you think?
