Morning Meanderings… Death of a Laptop… or not….

Morning….

Why why why why am I so tired?

I had a whole weekend of leisurely writing and yes don’t tell my husband who believes I worked like a fiend writing all weekend, but I napped too!  SO why on this Wednesday morning am I feeling like I am coming off a 20 hour work shift?

Last night I stayed in town as it is our serving week to stay with the homeless.  There is no reason why I should not have had some good quality reading of blog time as from 8 pm on I was alone, just me and Laptop (yes – LAPTOP, I will get to that in a minute…. ) but when I tried to read through some of the Monday Meme posts…. I was just ….

tired.

As for Laptop…. if you have been around this weekend you know he died on Sunday afternoon.  Yup.  Would not turn on.  I have had some opportunities the last couple weeks with Laptop and I think I know his issue…. even took pictures of the broken wires (very CSI of me!) to show how he died.  I even… and this is harsh so be warned…

I even pulled his plug.

Then…

Tuesday evening as I was preparing dinner I sat at the table and pushed his power button, just like old times… and

a message came on the previously blank screen:

Plug In – Your Battery Is Dangerously Low

So – well…. wow!  I ran for the plug-in and when hubby and Chance got to the table I told them do not look directly at it…. but look…. Laptop is BREATHING!

It’s a March Miracle!

I realize I am still probably on borrowed time so my plans to invest in a new one are still in place and I have now emailed myself all important documents off this one so I can no longer say “yup…. there went my book.”

I have another busy evening tonight but Thursday is looking promisingly uneventful and I do plan to read the Monday posts as I am in need of my book fix. 🙂

    1. So far so good Hannah! I hate to get a new laptop as I really like how I finally (FINALLY) have this one all laid out. 😀

Maybe my laptop – much like me… is just tired of running. 😛

    1. Ugh…. I don’t know… I dont want to spend a bunch of money I wasn’t planning on spending, yet I want something I am going to be happy with.

Decisions decisions…. I will probably not look until this weekend 🙂

  1. Isn’t it funny how life altering it can be when our computers konk out on us! I’m glad you are able to get even just a little ‘blorrowed time’ with laptop to back everything up!

  2. Oh, yes, that e-mailing ourselves trick is one I love! It’s good for when you find yourself at someone else’s computer, too, and you can still work.

Hurray for borrowed time…and time to put his “affairs in order.”

    Good luck!

  3. Glad your laptop still had some life in it and you were able to migrate your important stuff. My computer did the same thing when it was in its final weeks, poor thing.

Hope you have a great day!

    1. I love that it is giving me opportunities to grab what I need off of it as I had not done so before…. now I need to move pictures, it would be nice if it just waited for the new one so I could transfer cleanly…. thats not too much to ask, is it? 😛

  4. I sooo understand the tired thing. I wonder if it has to do with the change of seasons? And last month I lost my hard drive when my netbook went crashing on the floor. Lost all my files…emails…Yeah, a real bummer!

    1. Oh! That’s awful! I have dropped this one a couple (ok… err… more than that) times . I have a bad habit of resting it on the arm of the recliner and it tends to take a tumble…..

I should probably be arrested for Laptop abuse….
      😯

  5. Completely understand the whole tired thing – i have been non stop over the past couple of weeks and tonight just had to sleep for a couple of hours to get my zazz back!

I had a laptop die on me a couple years ago and it was very upsetting but luckily did not have too many important files. I hope you get a new one soon – anything in particular in mind?

    😀

    1. I should have my “zazz” back…. I had the weekend off…. I am thinking perhaps writing and studying wiped me out… my goodness…. am I now going to become exhausted getting the mail? LOL

  6. Tired here too, though I don’t know why! I was babysitting my niece tonight and all I wanted to do was sleep (she wasn’t having any of it though!).

  7. I cannot tell you how many laptops I have had in the past 10 years… its been over 4. While I want to think that Laptops in general do not last that long (which I know they don’t) I think I have a “brown thumb” when it comes to laptops. I prefer my desktop though and only really wish I had a laptop when I am at Barnes reading children’s books to review and want to review them right then and there instead of handwriting them. Good luck!

    1. I used to prefer the desk top — never thought I would like a laptop until I used my sons while our desktop was in the shop. I love being able to cozy up in the recliner with my laptop and tapping away 😉

  8. It’s alive!!! I’m waiting for my laptop to die. It’s been a while since I’ve taken it in and am waiting for the inevitable as it is nearing the end of it’s extended warranty – figure it will bite the dust the second it ends. I hope not, but that seems to be the way of technology. Oi! I already picked out a laptop but hopefully mine will last me another year or two.
