Good morning.
I am a little later than usual this morning due to prepping and putting up my Literary Giveaway post for Judith’s Blog hop. If you have some time you should check out the giveaways. I plan to do this as well once I get some coffee in me… yes, you read that right… as of this moment I am caffeine free. Probably another reason this post is up a little later… I am not moving as quickly as I normally am. 😛
On other random notes, it is Saturday and time for a Saturday Snapshot thanks to Alyce of At Home With Books. Hmmmm…. what am I in the mood for this morning….. *clicking through pictures from my files*
Ok – this will work:
This is a picture of my uncle’s wedding in 1959. From left to right is my uncle Dick, my uncle Bill, and my dad Gary. I don’t have many pictures of my dad who died in a house fire in 1980 so I grabbed a few life this at my aunt and uncles 50th wedding anniversary party. It’s fun to see the hair styles!
For giggles – here is a picture of my dad’s siblings from that 50th anniversary party. It was awesome to have them all there! From left to right: Bunk (she lives in California), Bill (the groom from the above picture), Bob, and Ida. Bill, Bob, and Ida all still live here in Brainerd Minnesota.
My big plan for today is to get in some reading! I have a few errands to run this afternoon but nothing seriously time-consuming. I ran a lot yesterday to make today a bit more relaxing. Seriously though, I do need to get some coffee. 😀

What hip dudes they were! I love the white suites and slicked back hair 🙂
Isn’t that hilarious Trish? And whats with the white jackets? 😀
I love those pictures, especially the first one from the wedding. I love looking at old pictures of my family too. It is really special. Thanks for sharing these!
I am not a coffee drinker but I really needed my cup of caffeinated tea this morning. I got up at seven but haven’t been “awake” till now. I hope you have a great day!
I am finally having it now Christina…. AHHHH…. its like liquid HEAVEN. 😀
I love the old wedding photo! Very stylin’
My dad…. so hip. LOL
I always love these type of photos…such a treasure. I’m catching up on blogs, reviews, stuff like that and then later tonight we’re going to have a big Monopoly game with my son and his friends 😀
Sounds like fun Staci. Chance is at his home for the weekend which is the first time since November that I have a kid free weekend….. 🙂
Yay, weekend! I think I get to go scope out new glasses frames this morning …
That’s actually fun Hannah – I love picking out new frames! I hope you enjoy it 🙂
Oh, yeah, finding new frames, as long as there are some good ones to choose from, is always fun. I’m a little sad though, because the pair I liked THE MOST is too pricey. Of course. But, I’ve got an appointment this week, and I like the frames she ordered for me, too.
Cool! Picture on your blog with the new peeps is a must! 😀
I’ll at least tweet it, OK?
OK 😀
I love the old pictures for the hairstyle and clothes!
Me too Kathy – you inspired me to look beyond the more recent pics. 🙂
I could look at old photos for hours. Fun picture! I could see the resemblance between you and your dad!
Yeah… LOL Angie… I can see it too 😀
Oh, those photos take me back…way back in the day!
Love plumbing the depths of old photo albums to find treasures….
Here’s my SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
Arent they awesome Laurel?
Hi Sheila,
I love digging through old family snaps, alhough it can also be a bit depressing to realise how much one has aged, in what seems like just a few short years!!
I have pictures of my dad with the slicked hairdo, now he still has a full head of hair at age 85!
Milestone celebrations are always great … last year it was my in-laws 60th Diamond Wedding Anniversary, so there were some great family celebrations and the obligatory ‘family’ photograph, with the three children and three grandchildren, which hangs in pride of place on their wall.
Wow Yvonne – your dad still has a full head of hair? That is impressive!
I love the family pics!
Since I graduated from high school in 1958, the wedding picture takes me back to those hair styles and clothes. We thought we were so cool back then.
LOL – they do look like they think they are cool dont they? 😀
SO happy to see your old family photographs. I love the one of your dad and uncles getting ready for the wedding. How precious these photographs are!
I love them! I had never seen this picture until the summer of 2009 when this anniversary took place- my aunt let me take a few of the pics so I could make copies.
That wedding picture looks like it came right out of an old movie! Everyone’s so spiffy. These old photos are such a treasure.
I really should grab some of my family’s old photo albums and scan them so they are preserved.
LOL that is awesome Leslie – suddenly I had a vision of Gone With The Wind in my head… 😀
I love the old photo, and especially liked comparing Bill in the older and newer photos. It makes me curious what I’m going to look like when I’m older, and also makes me wonder when I see random older people around the community – what did they look like when they were younger?
That’s funny Alyce as I just thought about that when I looked at my aunts….. 😛
Sometimes you see people when they were younger and then you can see that person still in them…. I hope that is me 😀
You and Kathy (Bermudaonion) posting these old photos make me want to go to my parents’ house and start scanning in all the pictures they have. Most of my pictures start from when I got my first camera….
Great pictures!
Here’s my Snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/02/saturday-snapshot-february-18.html
Hi Bev – Kathy gave me the idea….. 😀
Aren’t old family photos the best?

Thanks! I did too… I think absence makes the heart grow founder because if was after 9 before I had coffee this morning and it was G O O D! 😀
I rarely drink coffee but I’ve been craving a cinnamon soy latte and I think it has something to do with all your talk of coffee!
What a wonderful family photo! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Col 😀

Shelia, these were so great. I look at graduation picture and old wedding pictures and am just amazed by how the years have flown.
