Morning Meanderings… SATURDAY and a reading avalanche!

Good Morning!!!  SATURDAY!!!

Saturdays are my favorite day of the week!  I do not work on Saturdays and if I am careful – I can keep them open to no commitments, much like today.  I do like that.

It seems like all week I have been reading as I have had time and that has not been much.  I have been listening to audio in my car, in the kitchen and in my IPOD.  Today – both the IPOD book and the kitchen audio will complete as well as two books I am reading that are both very close to the end.  Now I feel like a complete wealth of book reviews that I want to share with you about – but have to space them out.

I also have a couple exciting events coming up.  The Berg Fest will be announced within the next few days as well as the book choice for Word Shakers (hopefully I can post that tomorrow).  How funny it is that all this week I have stumbled for posts and now I can’t seem to fit them all in fast enough.

COFFEE CUP and I are  going to read this morning and write a couple of reviews. This week is going to be a full one, there will be lots of excitement around here.  It is my birthday week and I will be having giveaways along with fun posts!

Alyce from At Home With Books has a fun meme called Snapshot Saturday where we are asked to post a picture.  So here is mine for this week:

This picture is from a girls weekend in Fargo in 2009.  We went to a nice restaurant for dinner and there was this huge monkey statue which the girls ( L: Deb, Paula, and Amy) all sat in front of and imitated.  I love good times with good friends!

One more thing – keep a reminder that this Monday, What Are You Reading will be celebrating its one year anniversary here and things are going to be exciting!  If you participate in this meme plan for some fun and if you have not participated in this meme, this may be your week to give it a try!  😀

  1. I love that picture of you and the gals in the “See No Evil …” pose. You look like fun people to hang out with. 😉 Commitment-free Saturdays are bliss. Enjoy!

  2. Yay! Happy almost birthday! 🙂 I can’t believe the Monday meme is a year old on your blog! Time flies, doesn’t it? I’d like to say I was commitment free today, but I have my niece’s 5th birthday party to attend. Then tomorrow is date day with the hubby (we don’t care for football) and we’re going out to see The Machinist and have lunch at Olive Garden (yum!). Will be bopping by this coming week to give you happy wishes!

    1. Right Kristen – thank you! 😀 The meme turns one on Monday and I turn _______ on Wednesday! LOL

I think we are going to a super bowl party tomorrow – that will be fun (I don’t like football either but I love the Superbowl commercials!)

      1. Lol to the ______ – I’m young and my students seem to have no concept of age. They’ve guessed from 16 to 36. Lol.

The commercials are fun, but I’d rather be out with the hubby. 🙂 We went out in the ultimate Bears vs. Packers game and came back in time for the last 30 minutes, which was all we really needed to see after all. 🙂

  3. Fun photo!! Happy Birthday Early!!! and Yay for the 1 year anniversary of ‘What Are You Reading’ which is one of my favorite features ever!! Have a great book filled weekend!

  4. Happy birthday week! I love Saturdays too (except the occasional Saturday when I have to work). I have one book I am hoping to finish today (The Iron Queen) and some reviews to write as well. Good luck with your reading and reviewing. Have a great day!

  5. I love that picture. I actually collect Three Wise Monkey figurines (which are not always monkeys by the way), so seeing that really gives me a grin.

  6. The monkeys look great! Oh wait, maybe I should rephrase that (I don’t want the girls to think they don’t look great too). 😉 It’s a very cute photo!

  7. It’s pouring rain here today on top of ice and snow, and I’m wondering if we’ll get to the Binghamton Univ. basketball game tonight. If we do, will we get home? I guess that’s the bigger question. That and the Super Bowl will be our weekend.

  8. I’ve had a hard time keeping up with all my reading too, but I’ve gotten a lot of audio in! Audiobooks are saving me these days.

  9. Yay, Saturday! I think the sometimes-need of having to choose/start multiple books at once is part of why I can’t fall into a habit of having more than 1 book on the go at a time.

    1. With the audios I like it Hannah – its like I wonder what I can listen to next! I also like the fast turn over… if I can keep the audios to 5 – 7 hours I can usually finish the IPOD one and the kitchen one in a little over a week. The car one, as my job is about three minutes from my house… takes longer and I only listen to it when I am the only one in the car. 😀

I always seem to find my way back to your blog…I really enjoy it! I will be back this next week as well since you’ve so many interesting things coming up. I”m reading all weekend since it’s raining here. I’ve found a wonderful new book in a series by author “Aileen G. Baron”. The book “The Scorpion’s Bite” is a about an archaeologist stationed in the Middle East. The author was an actual archaeologist so the book is amazing!

Looks like you girls had a great time in Fargo!

  11. I want to come and hang out with you and your friends! I love you photo. Looking forward to Monday–and wondering where has the year gone?
