Morning Meanderings… Oh NOW I Have Something To Say

Yes… for two days I have got up every morning and had an experience of bloggers block.  I would stare at the empty post space that awaited something witty out of me…

and nothing witty comes.

Then…. last night while I was cooking dinner…. a literal breakthrough of topics hit the surface of my brain.

FINALLY.

Thats the good news.  The bad news is that now that I have all these things to say…. I want to say them today.  SO… you may want to go fill up your coffee cup before you read on.

I will wait here.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Back?  Ok – sweet!

First off – I have neglected to announce a few winners of late and that is soooooooooo 2010 me, and not 2011 me at all.  I must correct this and pronto.  First of all – YAY to all the awesome commenters of January.  The monthly winner for the random “thank you” drawing is none other than:

Kathleen of Boarding In My Forties

Kathleen please choose a book from the prize box and I will mail it to you (email me at journeythroughbooks@gmail.com)

and the winner of the most comments here in January 2011:

Laurel of Laurel Rain Snow Creations

Laurel wins a $20 Amazon gift card – I will send that your way today.  😀

WOO HOO to you both and thank you thank you thank you for coming and chatting here at Book Journey.  This comment contest is monthly and is going on right now for February!  Here are the details.

AND then…. The winner of the bag of Coffee from Honduras (from my trip in December is:

Sharon at Sharon’s Garden Of Books

And then there is the John Betcher SIGNED book giveaway, The Nineteenth Element….

Lori of She Treads Softly

Congratulations winners!!!!

In other news. for the audio book lovers who read these posts – Audible.com is having an amazing sale.  They have a sale on “First Of The Series audio – and over 50 titles $4.99 or less.   I picked up:

Wondrous Strange for $4.31

30 Clues for $3.91

k

1st To Die $4.79

There are plenty of good “first in the series” to choose from but these are three that I have always wanted to try and now I will!

And finally – all week-long I have been meaning to mention this but life and stuff got in the way, and yes, I forgot for a while too….  BUT- This coming Monday will be the one year anniversary for my hosting of It’s Monday!  What Are You reading?  This has been an exciting year of meeting many new bloggers and blogs thanks to connections through this meme.  I want to celebrate with a special Amazon gift card giveaway drawing for those who participate this coming Monday and I also have a bonus book that I just discovered in my book stash that I will give away as well to one random participant.  I love reasons to celebrate and this seems like a good excuse!  😀

Ok – that is it – and that is probably enough.  I have a review coming up yet later this morning and it is my day off (*happy dance happy dance*) so I will get a little reading done this afternoon!  😀

  1. Oh, thank you, thank you! Do you know how many e-books a $20.00 gift card can buy? Well, plenty, with the right sales…SQUEEEE!

BTW, I’ve named my Kindle “Sparky,” because the image of Kindle generates fire images, which made me think of “ignite” and then “spark.” One of my commenters on my post “Name the Kindle” got that flow going for me….(with the fire images).

  2. Congrats to all the winners! I saw John Betcher on the news here the other night and thought of you, it was CCO, a story about the goings on in Egypt.

And thanks for the tip about Audible.com. I’ve been meaning to give that a try now that I have figured out more about my Ipod. Do you find it’s a fairly easy site?

    • Really Julie? I missed that!

Audible.com is super easy to navigate (or I would be stuck!) once you buy it it will go into your “library” and you click download it goes right to I tunes. Plug in your ipod to itunes and it will sync and load it for you.

  3. congratulations to the winners! i check in with your blog every morning and always think you have wonderful things to say!

  4. I cannot believe it has been a year of you hosting the event. Wow. Good Job

  5. I hate it when that happens, when I go days with nothing to say/blog, and then it all comes at once, like an avalanche.

    Congrats to all the winners!

  6. Congrats to all of the winners!

I know how you feel Sheila! This is the first week that I haven’t posted something every week day in so long. I think maybe we are sick of winter!

  7. I’m glad to hear your writing/blogging block is gone. I’ve been dealing with that a little bit myself lately.

    Enjoy your day off!

  8. Congrats on one year of hosting It’s Monday! That has been a terrific meme for me as I’m getting started with my new book blog.

I’m having my Grand Opening this weekend — complete with a virtual ribbon cutting and a door prize!

  9. Wow, has it been a year already – it seems like just yesterday you started hosting that. Congratulations to all the winners!

  10. Thank you so much! I’m so excited and am really looking forward to reading The Nineteenth Element!

  11. Congratulations to all of the winners! And happy one year anniversary for the It’s Monday feature! 😀

  12. Morning, I love reading your blog first thing in the morning, though I am a day behind.
I accidently found those sales at audible too, for me I picked, City of Bones, The Hunger Games, Dead Until Dark and I can’t remember the 4th one, but I am sure I will like it 🙂

  13. Gah, you can’t post stuff like this. I just quit audible.. finally.. to save some money… I will not be tempted! Well.. I may go take a gander. 🙂 Hope you enjoy what you bought hon. 🙂 I need to start rereading the 39 clues books now that they’re all published. I read the first two when they came out but forget a bit of the story. My students love those books.

    Congrats to all the winners!

  14. I’ll have to see how you like the audio, I’ve been striking out on and off on audiobooks. Finally got a hold of Bloody Jack by L.A. Meyer on audio (read the books, but heard the audio was amazing) and am thrilled to find an actress who captures the character so well.

    • I need to get my hands on the Bloody Jack audios too – I heard the same thing! I have found some good audio lately. Testimony by Anita Shreve is harsh, but real and amazing and the Unspeakable Journey which I just finished this morning was totally amazing. Also I am listening to Berg audios like crazy and have enjoyed them all so far.

  15. I won, I won…I’m so excited. I sent an email with my book choice to you. Thanks Sheila!!
