Morning Meanderings… Signs I Am A Book Dork

Ok…. as I look at this post title I am thinking that maybe this should be a series….

I believe a big sign of being a book dork is when you get a book in the mail and you actually do SSSQQQQQUUUEEEEE when you see what it is.

It is….

the Iron Queen.

I have not read any of this series yet but I have been wanting to.  Iron King has been on my shelf FOR-E-VER.  And then came Iron Daughter and it too waits on me…. then I seen Iron Queen and thought, ooh… if I could get a review copy of that book in my hands I will read all three books back to back and just have an Iron festival….

and the book came!

SSSQQQQQQQUUUUEEEEEEEEEE

(I just seen on Kathy – Bermuda Onion’s blog this morning that she is offering a chance to win the entire set of these books!  If you do not have them pop over and enter for a chance to win!)

Oh but I am sure as book lovers I am not the only one whose book dorkiness shows occasionally.  Come on.. share with me today – whats a “book dork” moment you have had?

Oh… and FYI:  I could have sworn I hit publish on this early this morning….  this post was ready to go at 7:00 am…..

  1. When I’m expecting books in the mail, I check the tracking status first thing every morning. If it says that something is out for delivery, I check it periodically throughout the day, and will wait until it says it’s been delivered to take my lunch hour, so I can go home and see my new book(s). I am a proud member of the Book Dork Club. 😀

  2. Its maybe not a book-dork moment, maybe just a dork-dork moment, but buying the same book 3 times because its been on your to-read list forever (and keep forgetting you own it… I have a paper and 2 kobo versions of the same book!).

  3. You are too funny…I think we are all book geeks…why do I get so excited when I turn on my Kindle each morning at the surprise downloads which are really books I have preordered and forgotten about…I am paying for them and yet it is such a total thrill…Help us all…at least my books are now virtual and I don’t have to get more shelves…

    1. Yes, Patty, thanks for reminding me of this feature…I have some on preorder right now, and when they show up on my Kindle, I will be thrilled! Like it’s Christmas, or something….

  4. I entered to win Treasure Hunt by John Lescroart and won it. Then, knowing I had one of his books in that books of books friends gave me, I thought I’d try it – it’s the same book! Duh! Oh well, it’s a good read and I can donate the new one to the library.

  5. I bought 10 Charlaine Harris books in one go without having ever read even one of her’s before! However, they were a complete bargain at 10 books for £9.99, so how could I resist?! I still haven’t picked the first one of them up yet, I really should!

  6. My life is composed of book dorkiness. The most recent being heading to the large print shelf at the library Monday to grab 2 books I knew were there and 30 minutes later walking back to my chair with 6 having left several more behind on the end of a shelf.

But that pales in comparison to what happened the previous library visit as related in this post: http://joystory.blogspot.com/2011/01/becoming-books.html
the adventures of finding room for new arrivals on shelves already stuffed..

in grade school i snuck books out for recess under my clothes and read while walking home and in jr high and HS i read while walking the halls between classes which is why my new profile pic is such an inside joke for anyone who knew me back then. I haven’t read while walking about since I lost my peripheral vision in the 80s tho but I still miss it.

BTW I think this did post early this morning as I got it thru email but when I clicked the comment link I arrived at your blog on a page telling me that post did not exist. I checked the home page and it wasn’t there so I waited a few hours and checked again and it was. If you used Blogger I would wonder if you had edited or updated after posting and accidentally saved it back to draft as the save button becomes the save as draft button in edit mode for published posts. But you use WordPress and I’m not familiar with their platform.

    1. Joy I love your grade school stories – that is fantastic!

I could have swore it posted too…. but on my lunch I checked my emails and though it was really weird that nobody had commented…. then seen that because it was not there….

  7. I got this one too and not only squuueeeed, but did my happy dance as well! As for book dorkiness, I’ve started reading while walking back and forth from the gym during lunch. My co-workers think I’ve lost my mind, but I get an extra 5 minutes reading done each way!

  8. Where should I begin? lol. I squeal every time I get a book(s) in the mail,it’s like Christmas or m birthday or anniversary. I have plenty (as I am sure alll of us do) of book dorkiness all the time. Just ask my Hubby!

  9. I guess I felt like a book dork when I asked my sister at the end of last year, “Guess how many books I’ve read,” and she said “12?” I read 115 books last year.

Hmmmm... what do you think?
