Morning fellow readers 😀
I am home today – my first Friday off in about three months and I am THRILLED. Not only because I just really want to sit at home snuggled in a blanket and surrounded by books, but because I have a nasty head cold and I really just want to sit at home snuggled in a blanket and surrounded by books.
😀
*cough cough*
The extent of my morning activities was getting up throwing on sweat pants, t-shirt, hat and coat and driving Chance to school. Making my way back home, brewing a pot of coffee, and hauling laptop, blanket, cell phone, and a stack of books downstairs tot he recliner. I am now all tucked in and blissfully reading and writing reviews.
I have so many things to share with you that I have to start capturing the ideas. I still have recipes and craft ideas from my girls weekend in November to share. I have Honduras thoughts and pictures, weekend cooking, and more…. but today – today I am focusing on a couple awesome bloggers that make up this community and have both made me smile in the last few days.
First of all if you did not participate in the Secret Santa (Book Blogger Holiday Swap) exchange, I highly recommend you add that to your calendar of things to do for next year. It is such a blast! My Secret Santa I sent to was Sarah at GreenBeanTeenQueen. Here she talks about the gift she received.
I received mine as well this past week. Mine came from Stephanie from Books For Nerds. 😀 Check out my gift:
I know, right? TOTALLY SSSSQQQQQQUUUUUEEEEEE worthy. Safe Haven looks so wonderful and Climbing The Stairs has been on my wish list for a long time! 😀 Thank you Stephanie!!!
… and then yesterday I got home from a long day at work where I wasn’t feeling very well. I had cancelled dinner plans with a friend so I could just come home and die pass out on the couch. I picked up the mail on my way in and smiled when I seen this card:
Thanks Trisha, you have no idea how nice that was to receive! 🙂
So, I am on recliner duty today and I am so prepared to invest in some great book time. I hope to write a few reviews I am behind on so I can just pluck them into place this next week.

Sheila, have a great day and feel better-I feel your pain-I just got more meds from the doctor yesterday. Chicken soup, hydrate, hydrate hydrate.
Chicken soup sounds excellent Esme…. I wonder if I have any on the house. I think I have everything to make it…. just do not want to venture out.
I hope you feel better soon Sheila! I know how easy it is to get behind on reviews and it seems like when I do sit down to write a review that I need to do a few at a time! What an awesome gift you received! I’m so looking forward to getting mine!
Thanks Jo Jo. I have yet to write anything today other than this post and the author chat with Beth Hoffman. I think I am going to break here in a minute and read.
I’m so glad you liked it! I wish I could curl up with a book this morning, but off to work I go! 🙂
With the craziness of my life lately Steph it has been a while since I could really just sit and enjoy a book without multiple interruptions. I am hoping this afternoon will fix that. 😀
I’d like to have your day but without the cold. 😀 I have a Sue Grafton to read, but chores call.
That was the original plan Rural…. day off and all healthy! 😀
Wish I had a recliner! Sounds cozy. I had an 8 a.m. appt. at the doctor’s for a “pulmonary study,” and the instructions included: no coffee!
So now I’m back home and I can have some coffee! And curl up on the sofa to read.
I am envious of the Safe Haven book…I’ve had my eye on it for awhile.
NO COFFEE????? Oh…. uhhh…. I mean, no coffee?
😀
Enjoy your reading… I am hoping to finish up a couple today that I have started.
It is all of the traveling and your pace these past few weeks…sort of catching up with you…sip tea…and if you can…chicken soup…even if you just sip broth…take care and have fun reading/napping…
Thanks Patty, I did have soup. tea sounds good, the coffee really isn’t doing it for me today.
I’m sorry you are under the weather and I’m sorry I haven’t stopped by in awhile. My plans for this weekend include more moving. Yes, we found out two weeks ago that we needed to move and started moving last weekend from a 3 br house to a 2 br apartment…eek! This weekend is book packing and moving of shelves and books….approximately 3000+. Husband is like, “You have way too many books.” I said, “you know how much you like playing cards? Well, triple that and that’s my love of books!” He didn’t say another word!
Anyway, I hope you get to feeling better and congrats on the lovely Secret Santa gifts and card!
Hi Michelle, good to hear from you and “ugh” about the move. 😀
I hope you enjoy your new place and love that you have that many books!
Always great to receive cards and gifts in the mail! I received a few cards and one of my secret Santa swaps and it’s so exciting! Yours are beautiful!
I think that is so fun to get cards from fellow book bloggers Amy – I really have to get more organized witht at next year ;D
what great gifts! Climbing the Stairs looks awesome.
I have been looking at that one for almost a year Amanda…. so excited to have it in my home now! 😀
Wonderful gifts, you re most fortunate. I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well either. I am keeping my fingers crossed that whatever nasty thing I have is not contagious!
Feel better Jennifer…. a guy I work with sent home with strep throat yesterday so I am really hoping it is not that.
Sorry to hear that you’re under the weather. So many different viruses are making the rounds this year.
Love that you received such an awesome Secret Santa gift! So much fun to see what everyone receives! Enjoy! And feel better! 🙂
Thanks… the sore throat is a bit painful and hoping it is not strep.
I really love the gift too 😀
I’m so sorry you’re sick! I feel your pain though- I’ve had a cold for a couple of weeks and am finally getting over it! Get lots of rest 🙂
Thanks Amused. I do not get sick often so this has really wiped me out. I am hoping it passes soon.
Ah, those awesome bloggers just perk you up, don’t they?! I hope you’re feeling a little better today?
I’m restraining myself from opening my Secret Santa present… Only got our tree ready today and it has to stay under there for at least a couple of hours! LOL Trying to hold on until Friday night though.
Have fun with Safe Haven!
I was sick last week too and it was no fun. I forced myself to work everyday with the notion that I had these next two weeks off. Hopefully I can curl up with some good books these next two weeks. 🙂
That sounds wonderful Kristen. I am still at home today in vegie mode…. laptop, books, blanket and recliner…. we are all becoming very close friends. 😀
Feeling yucky and then receiving goodies like that in the mail is great! Almost enough to make you feel totally better! I’m thinking about hosting a Christmas card exchange next year; I know we all love getting cool cards, and it only takes a postage stamp or two! Have a wonderful holiday!
That’s a great idea Julie – add me to that list!
Hope you are feeling better by now.
Thanks Kathleen – I am 🙂
It might be fun to scan your favorite cards, print them out on fabric (you can get printable fabric sheets at craft and quilting stores) then make a Christmas quilt. You’d lose the touchable dimension of the homemade cards, but you’d have a lovely keepsake that would be a good conversational piece for years to come…and it would keep you warm when you curl up with a book!
What a great idea Nik!
