Morning. I am feeling a little ill. I am hoping to shake it as I work today, and have book club tonight. Every October we read a classic and this years pick is Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar. We are all suppose to wear an old-time hat in honor of the classics, but I am really hoping I can pull off a whole classic ensemble. As of this moment however, I do not even have a hat. 😛
“Hello?”
“This is procrastination calling. Congratulations! You are our number one customer!”
*sigh*
I love that our book club likes to take things to the next level and it makes for great memories of our discussions and our year-end reviews. I must be a team player.
Today after work I will take a buzz through a local thrift store and see if they have anything that inspires me. If I could come up with something like this I would be thrilled:
Ok I am out of here. Have a super day and hopefully tomorrow I will feel awesome and have something way more intelligent (or at least funny) to say. 😛
Feel better soon and if you don’t…you deserve a day in bed!!!
Thanks Patty… no time for a day in bed so I am hoping for the feel better soon. 😀
ugh…..feeling not 100% is just an energy zapper!!! squeeze a nap in and feel better!
No nap today Diana but thanks. I dont get sick often but I am battling something… sore throat, feeling hot…. GAH!
I hope you do feel better before tonight….and that you find a great vintage look.
I’ve been noticing The Bell Jar around…and I think I used to have a copy of it a long time ago. But it obviously disappeared at some point. I remember reading it when I lived in SF and was attending college there.
But I think I’ll request it from the library.
I found my copy at the Library Sale for 50 cents Laurel. A true find! 🙂
I love that dress – I’d wear it any day, not just for classics night!
I like that too…. if my head wasn’t all fuzzy i could prabably be creative…. 😀
I love the quote and the dress…
I haven’t read the The Bell Jar, though I’ve thought about reading it many times.
I might have to do just that.
I try to read the classics when I can Deb, even if it takes my book club to force y hand 🙂
There are lots of nasty bugs going around right now (strep throat and upper respiratory infections) so take care of yourself.
Thanks Lynne, yes I have a lot of friends that have this too… I am doing a lot of vitamin C and those emergen C packs. I’m fighting it 🙂
Good luck on the dress hunt!
Thank you Hannah…. if I don’t find one that’s cool too… I don’t think anyone else is dressing up, I just thought it would be fun.
I absolutely love that Sylvia Plath quote. It is so eloquent and applicable. I’ll have to write it down somewhere. And I’ve got to track down a copy of The Bell Jar – it’s been on my wish list for ages.
I hope you are feeling better and able to find a great outfit for your book club.
As for procrastination, we totally have that in common. Often heard around my house – “That’s today? You’ve got to be kidding me!” Followed by much scrambling.
I do that all the time Alyce…. I think I work better that way…. its amazing what i can done with little time…. too much time…. I just cant focus on it 🙂
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks Vicki – me too 🙂
I hope you feel better already!
Whatever you wear, I’m sure you’ll look fabulous! Don’t forget to take a picture….like we need to remind you. 🙂
I hope you are feeling better!
Thanks Jill – I think I found the outfit. I still feel like crud, but am all hopped up on Tylenol. 😀
Hope you feel better soon!
I absolutely love Sylvia Plath! The Bell Jar is a great classic to pick.
Hope you got an outfit you wanted. The picture of the dress you posted is beautiful! =)
Thanks so much 🙂 I love that dress too… I didnt find it, but I did find another fun one 😉
I like the quote. So true.
I have a box of hats that would work for your book club meeting. I could probably come up with clothes too. The running joke at the library was that no matter what the topic, Pat had stuff for it. Sad, but mostly true.
