Morning Meanderings of dreary skies and bagging food

Its early and quiet around here.  And dark.  Another sign of Fall.  I am typing at the kitchen table Coffee Cup by my side and looking out the window I see a cloudy gloomy gray sky and very little light.  Good day to be inside that is for sure.

Yesterday was the last day at work for my Administrative Assistant Sandi.  She and I both knew it would be a tough day, we get along so well and have a lot of fun.  Right away when we were talking in the morning I teared up, she said stop that, and she teared up – and I laughed and said I would stay on my side of the office to avoid tears.  😛

We had a surprise going away party for her at 1:30 yesterday – that I could not mention here as she reads my blog.  😀  It went off pretty well and we did surprise her.  She will be missed in the office and it has been awesome getting to know her for the past two years.  We agreed to get together for lunch occasionally to catch up.

Sandi and I

Today, in about an hour Chance, Al, and I are heading out to help with the Feed The Children event for Haiti.  I mentioned this in yesterday mornings crazy weekend post.  We will be helping people get to bagging stations and showing them how to put together the mix of soy, seasoning, dried veggies and rice.  We will then weigh, seal, and box the bags to go to Haiti.  Its kind of exciting to be part of this.  We have done it three times before for Honduras.

And speaking of Honduras I get to see some of the kids from Honduras this afternoon.  Three of them are in the states and in my home town.  Crazy – but true!

Hopefully some reading time later tonight.  A little at least.  I tried last night and I lasted about 10 minutes.  Have a super day everyone!  😀

    1. Thanks Hannah – I just got home from the Feed The Children event and was going to read my emails before I loaded the car to take the blankets and comforters into town for tomorrow. I seen I had initially posted this morning meandering without a title… then I just spent 5 minutes correcting my book review that went up today for missing words and wrong words (like now instead of not)…. good grief! I must be tired. 😀

  1. I guess this is catch up day for posts. I seem to be getting slower every night. It doesn’t help that there are so many interesting sites out there..
Sorry your Administrative Assistant Sandi had to leave. At least you will be close enough to get together once in a while.

Great feed the children project. It is always special to be part of something like that.

  2. I had to laugh about that one, too, Sheila…Sometimes I think when I post on my blogs, or tweet…hmm, wonder if anyone I know will be offended, or think I’m nuts?

Oh, well, they think that anyway!

    Have a great weekend.

    1. Ahhh…. Laurel my family and friends just have to accept me for who I am! LOL

Most of them know the real me and that is what you get when I am writing these posts. 😀

(although they may think I am nuts they are kind enough not to say it to my face)

      😛

  3. It’s tough saying goodbye to coworkers. We spend so much time at our jobs, you often become like family. I apologize if you mentioned in an early post, but why is Sandi leaving? Good luck with your reading time this evening. 🙂

    1. It is hard Jill, especially when you connect well and we did. Sandi is in charge of our area Hockey Concessions stands and we are coming into season again. She is the manager and it is always a hard struggled for her this time of year to do both.

As our office grows and becomes more busy (and it really has grown over the past year) she knows that she has no more to give.

It was hard – we cried a lot on Friday…. laughed too and promised to get together often to catch up.
