It’s Monday! What Are You Reading!

Hi everyone – it’s that time again when we all get to share what books are making our current reads…. what’s coming up, and what maybe we wish we would have passed on….:D

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I love being a part of this and I hope you do too!  As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme.  I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment.  You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.

Last weeks winner (using Random.Org) was:

Here’s what graced my life this past week in bookish ways:

Review:  The Passage by Justin Cronin (I listened to all 35 hours of this audio and came out the other side with a “WOW”!

Review:   auf Weidersehen by Christa Holder Ocker (a memoir of a young girl during WWII)

Attack Of The Library Sale with theme music! (Seriously… there is a theme song…. don’t you have one?)

Author Chat with Colin Sokolowski – author if The Accidental Adult (Colin is a laugh a minute!)

Sleeping At The Library (see what first in line looks like at the annual fall library sale in my town)  😛

Review:  The Evolution Of Shadows (A fiction book that read and felt like non – fiction)

That was my past week!  Now moving forward to this week – I am playing it a bit safe as I will not be back in town until Tuesday night (more about that below) So here’s the plan:

This one I have read some good reviews on  and picked it up from my library.  I am not that far into it but have liked it so far.

I am going to have a mocking week – (you will see more of this on Wednesday) but part of that is going to be that I am finally going to take the time to read To Kill A Mockingbird – and yes, it will be my first time.

AND….. Finally I will be reading and reviewing Mockingjay – the long anticipated finale to Suzanne Collins Hunger Games Trilogy.  I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!  It is being released on Wednesday and I am taking the day off from work and reading it.  Yes I am.  😛

So, that’s my plan!  By the time this post goes up I will be In Grand Marais Minnesota at a Leadership training camp until Tuesday evening.  I am 98% sure I will have no internet even though I brought my security Laptop.  🙂  I will catch up on checking out all your Monday posts on Wednesday.

    1. It was kind of a no brainer for me Melissa – I knew the travel and the camp would tire me out and I relaly have a lot to do around my home. I put in extra hours last week to prep all the paperwork for this retreat including working my day off so I felt it was a good trade. 😀

  1. I posted my review of Prep seeing that you are reading it this week. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts, some bloggers I know will hate it – I actually think you will like it (just be prepared there is crude teen boy speak).

    1. Thanks Mari for your thoughts on this. And thank you for the crude warning – not a fan of that. 🙂

I am about a fourth of the way through and while it is holding my attention and I am not finding it to be as exciting as I had hoped…. maybe it will pick up….

    1. Thanks Danielle – I am having some crazy busy times here too and it is about to get busier going into the first part of September. Thats why I took a day off – I need to recoup and enjoy a little down time before I hit it again 😀

  2. everyone is so looking forward to Mockingjay. One of the local schools here is doing Hunger Games as there One Book, One School program, if they can get the funding. I really hope so. It sounds like a wonderful idea.

  3. How long did that 35 hours take to read! I have the book and the size looks intimidating. 😦
I haven’t read TKAM in years although I have seen the movie twice over the past year.
I just ordered The Hunger Games on Audible so I can start the series. 🙂
Enjoy your leadership training and have a great week!

    1. Martha E – the audio took me since the 1st week of June until this past week to finish. Now granted, that was at a bout 20 minutes a day tops while I prepped for my day in the bathroom.

I have not seen the TKAM movie because I prefer to read the books first and if at all possible I avoid seeing the movies until after the book is read.

I bet Hunger Games on audible is super good. ENJOY 😀

    1. But Andrea to read them all now while they are all available…. oh, that is awesome – one after another. I am jealous of you to be able to do that!

Let me know when you read them – I would love to read your reviews 😀

  4. I am hoping the Mockingjay is fantastic! You wil love Mockingbird, (the audio by Sissy Spacek is wonderful). Have a good time at camp too!

  5. I have read any of the book yet. And seriously, Mockingjay is the most anticipated book ever and I can feel the heat!

    enjoy your weekend ;p

    1. Darlyn I feel like it is the final book in the Harry Potter series all over again. Ok maybe not quite that intense…. but I took the day off from work when that book released too. 😀

  6. I’m getting Mockingjay for my Kindle and can’t wait until it arrives. I preordered last week. I was going to wait and get it at the library, but I just could not resist.

  7. I will be avoiding everyone’s blogs for the next 2 weeks while everyone reviews Mockingjay – I haven’t even read The Hunger Games yet! (I know, I know – I’m on the wait list at my library). Have a great trip.

  8. Oh, boy…The Passage is next on my list – my last official summer read. It was too clunky to bring on my camping trip this weekend, so I’m hoping to start it this week. Can’t wait!

Also can’t wait for the release of Mockingjay this week!! How cool that you are taking the day off to read it – sounds like great fun!

    Hope your trip goes well.

    Sue

  9. Happy Reading!

My reading plan got a little (ok a lot) screwy this past week, so I am behind on my re-reading of The Hunger Games and Catching Fire…not to mention, went to grab Catching Fire off the shelf, only to realize IT’S NOT THERE! I must have loaned it to someone. Doh!

I will not start Mockingjay until I’m finished with the re-read…which means, my review won’t be up this week. Bummer.

    ENJOY IT!!

    1. Thanks Alison – I really wanted to make time to do the re- read as well but just didn’t have the time. I honestly cant wait so I may refresh my memory with the last few pages of catching Fire and them dive into the Mockingjay…..

      Hope you find your book!

  10. THANK YOU!!!! My Monday is starting off really good! Working on my blog, watching Tommy Boy, grandson is laughing because we are laughing, and I won a prize here!!

Thanks for hosting this wonderful MEME!!!!

      1. It worked for me in the end, thanks. I just hit the refresh button a few times and it finally loaded.

It looks like I’ve got that whole Hunger Games series to catch up on too.

  11. I too, am eagerly anticipating Mockingjay! I just got notified it shipped so it might be too slow for me. I might end up stopping and buying it the second it hits the shelves. I may even end up at a midnight release party! BUT, and this is a big but, we’re BROKE so I’ll probably just have to be patient and wait for it to arrive. And stay away from all things Mockingjay on the internet (VERY difficult!).

  12. I’m another really looking forward to Mockingjay!! I’m currently reread Catching Fire and heartbreaking as it is, I know Mockingjay will be worse. Waiting til Wednesday when the US gets it tomorrow may kill me though lol

  13. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on To Kill a Mockingbird and Mockingjay of course! I’ve heard of Prep but haven’t read it. I’m also afraid of The Passage, but maybe someday I’ll give it a shot! Have a great week.

  14. I cannot wait to read Mockingjay! I’ve been waiting for this book for a very long time.

Loved To Kill a Mockingbird when I read it in high school, but I’ve never re-read it.

  15. Sheila,
I’m going a happy dance. I was able to visit over 30 blogs today! My grandson is with his daddy so I was able to actually sit here and visit. Found a few new blogs that I really liked too.
