Hi everyone – it’s that time again when we all get to share what books are making our current reads…. what’s coming up, and what maybe we wish we would have passed on….:D
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme. I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment. You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.
Last weeks winner (using Random.Org) was:

Here’s what graced my life this past week in bookish ways:
Review: The Passage by Justin Cronin (I listened to all 35 hours of this audio and came out the other side with a “WOW”!
Review: auf Weidersehen by Christa Holder Ocker (a memoir of a young girl during WWII)
Attack Of The Library Sale with theme music! (Seriously… there is a theme song…. don’t you have one?)
Author Chat with Colin Sokolowski – author if The Accidental Adult (Colin is a laugh a minute!)
Sleeping At The Library (see what first in line looks like at the annual fall library sale in my town) 😛
Review: The Evolution Of Shadows (A fiction book that read and felt like non – fiction)
That was my past week! Now moving forward to this week – I am playing it a bit safe as I will not be back in town until Tuesday night (more about that below) So here’s the plan:
This one I have read some good reviews on and picked it up from my library. I am not that far into it but have liked it so far.
I am going to have a mocking week – (you will see more of this on Wednesday) but part of that is going to be that I am finally going to take the time to read To Kill A Mockingbird – and yes, it will be my first time.
AND….. Finally I will be reading and reviewing Mockingjay – the long anticipated finale to Suzanne Collins Hunger Games Trilogy. I CAN NOT WAIT!!!! It is being released on Wednesday and I am taking the day off from work and reading it. Yes I am. 😛
So, that’s my plan! By the time this post goes up I will be In Grand Marais Minnesota at a Leadership training camp until Tuesday evening. I am 98% sure I will have no internet even though I brought my security Laptop. 🙂 I will catch up on checking out all your Monday posts on Wednesday.
Please enter the link to your Monday What Are You Reading below where it says “Click Here”. I cant wait to see what you are reading this week!
Have a great reading week! I see that you have lined up books for it!

Thanks gautami tripathy 😀
I’m so jealous about Mockingjay! It will be a while until I get it… Happy reading & have a great week 🙂
Thanks Aleksandra – I am really excited to get to reading it!
I can’t wait to read TKAM, which I bought last week…but that will have to wait until…maybe next week!!
Enjoy your books and your time away.
Thanks Laurel 😀
It was great to have it up so early today. I really want to read the Hunger Games trilogy. Have a great week!
Thanks Alaine – I was so worried that if Iset it to go live and it didnt – GAH! SO I did before we drove out of of the cell phone area 😀
I’m green with envy you have Mockingjay, must get my order in! Enjoy your time at camp 🙂
Thanks Teddyree – I am really excited to get into this book 😀
sound like a great week! mocking jay! my husband will be sooo excitied 🙂
Thanks Loren 😀
I really need to reread Mockingbird, I’ve had it on my shelf for years and just haven’t ever gotten to it again. Hope you enjoy your week 🙂
Me too Crystal and I got the lovely new copy too for the anniversary edition.
Wow — taking the day off and reading Mockingjay! Totally jealous!
Have a great week.
It was kind of a no brainer for me Melissa – I knew the travel and the camp would tire me out and I relaly have a lot to do around my home. I put in extra hours last week to prep all the paperwork for this retreat including working my day off so I felt it was a good trade. 😀
I posted my review of Prep seeing that you are reading it this week. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts, some bloggers I know will hate it – I actually think you will like it (just be prepared there is crude teen boy speak).
Thanks Mari for your thoughts on this. And thank you for the crude warning – not a fan of that. 🙂
I am about a fourth of the way through and while it is holding my attention and I am not finding it to be as exciting as I had hoped…. maybe it will pick up….
Textbooks are here. Here’s what I’m reading this week.
Textbooks? I hope you have a little fiction mix in there pussreboots 😀
I always make a little time for fun reading.
I am ashamed to say I still haven’t read To Kill A Mockingbird either. Enjoy your week!
Dont be ashamed Booklover, I am discovering there are quite a few of us book lovers who have not done this yet. 😀
I haven’t read To Kill a Mockingbird either! May see if I can find it on the shelves before my lunch break finishes!
Kylie I hope you do find it! Good luck 😀
Oh have fun at your leadership camp! And enjoy Mockingjay! I’ve got such a crazy week, I’m really hoping to squeeze it in at some point. Ugh. Have a fabulous reading week!
Thanks Danielle – I am having some crazy busy times here too and it is about to get busier going into the first part of September. Thats why I took a day off – I need to recoup and enjoy a little down time before I hit it again 😀
everyone is so looking forward to Mockingjay. One of the local schools here is doing Hunger Games as there One Book, One School program, if they can get the funding. I really hope so. It sounds like a wonderful idea.
That is a great idea amcatoir! I wonder if they could connect witht he publisher for a little help with this?
Have a great time! I am not reading Mockingjay, but I have heard a lot of excitement about it. Enjoy.
Jennifer did you not read Hunger Games or Catching Fire? I am surprised!
Thanks though – I am soooooo looking forward to it!
How long did that 35 hours take to read! I have the book and the size looks intimidating. 😦
I haven’t read TKAM in years although I have seen the movie twice over the past year.
I just ordered The Hunger Games on Audible so I can start the series. 🙂
Enjoy your leadership training and have a great week!
Martha E – the audio took me since the 1st week of June until this past week to finish. Now granted, that was at a bout 20 minutes a day tops while I prepped for my day in the bathroom.
I have not seen the TKAM movie because I prefer to read the books first and if at all possible I avoid seeing the movies until after the book is read.
I bet Hunger Games on audible is super good. ENJOY 😀
I decided to play, and this week I featured you, Sheila, along with your imitation of the cover of “Seven Year Switch.” Here ’tis (it’s also on the Linky list):
http://bonniesbooks.blogspot.com/2010/08/reading-ruminations.html
Bonnie – I am so excited to see your post now. I was going to wait until tomorrow to start peeking at posts (Wed) but now I have to see your tonight 😀
Have a great trip! Looking forward to this weeks reviews. 🙂
Thanks Jill – it will be a really busy week over here – lots of important posts but fun ones too 😀
Love the first in line photo. I bet that could go in the Guiness Book of Records. I want to read Mockingjay so badly.
Tea – you must read it! 😀
Have fun at training camp!! My list is here.
CMash
Training Camp Cheryl… LOVE IT! I am going to call it that from now on… like boot camp. 😛
I have to read the whole Hunger Games series. I always miss the boat on these things.
But Andrea to read them all now while they are all available…. oh, that is awesome – one after another. I am jealous of you to be able to do that!
Let me know when you read them – I would love to read your reviews 😀
I posted mine! I have a few books on list this week!
http://mustreadfaster.blogspot.com/2010/08/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-and_23.html
YAY Melissa – cant wait to get a peak at them 😀
I am hoping the Mockingjay is fantastic! You wil love Mockingbird, (the audio by Sissy Spacek is wonderful). Have a good time at camp too!
Thanks Nise – I bet the audio was good – I had no idea Sissy Spacek did the narration. How cool is that!
I have read any of the book yet. And seriously, Mockingjay is the most anticipated book ever and I can feel the heat!
enjoy your weekend ;p
Darlyn I feel like it is the final book in the Harry Potter series all over again. Ok maybe not quite that intense…. but I took the day off from work when that book released too. 😀
I’m getting Mockingjay for my Kindle and can’t wait until it arrives. I preordered last week. I was going to wait and get it at the library, but I just could not resist.
Crystal enjoy that! I heard it is awesome in audio!
I will be avoiding everyone’s blogs for the next 2 weeks while everyone reviews Mockingjay – I haven’t even read The Hunger Games yet! (I know, I know – I’m on the wait list at my library). Have a great trip.
Get going Megan – then I want to read all your reviews 😀
Oh, boy…The Passage is next on my list – my last official summer read. It was too clunky to bring on my camping trip this weekend, so I’m hoping to start it this week. Can’t wait!
Also can’t wait for the release of Mockingjay this week!! How cool that you are taking the day off to read it – sounds like great fun!
Hope your trip goes well.
Sue
Sue enjoy The Passage I will be watching for your review 😀
One of my favorite books to date is Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld – I hope you enjoy it too! 🙂
LR I have heard others say that as well – it had me curious. I am about a fourth of the way into it and like it, but haven’t loved it yet….. 🙂
Happy Reading!
My reading plan got a little (ok a lot) screwy this past week, so I am behind on my re-reading of The Hunger Games and Catching Fire…not to mention, went to grab Catching Fire off the shelf, only to realize IT’S NOT THERE! I must have loaned it to someone. Doh!
I will not start Mockingjay until I’m finished with the re-read…which means, my review won’t be up this week. Bummer.
ENJOY IT!!
Thanks Alison – I really wanted to make time to do the re- read as well but just didn’t have the time. I honestly cant wait so I may refresh my memory with the last few pages of catching Fire and them dive into the Mockingjay…..
Hope you find your book!
THANK YOU!!!! My Monday is starting off really good! Working on my blog, watching Tommy Boy, grandson is laughing because we are laughing, and I won a prize here!!
Thanks for hosting this wonderful MEME!!!!
Dollycas
Tommyboy! Is that the one that has the line “Fat man in a little coat?” I loved than and really loved Chris Farley. Sadly missed.
Sounds like everyone is stoked for Mockingjay this week.
I just posted my first “What Are You Reading” post. This is a wonderful meme for a Monday morning.
http://chicfitgeek.blogspot.com
YA Stella – I love that and cant wait to see what you are reading! Thanks for joining in 😀
That’s great that you’re taking the day off to read Mockingjay! How funny 🙂 I’m super excited for its release as well. Enjoy!
Thanks Sami – it is not often that an anticipated read comes out like this so you have to make the most of it. 😀
I’m having trouble getting to the Linky Tools link list at the moment, but I’ll keep trying. In any case, you’ll find my post at http://notesoflife.co.uk/?p=607
Do you know, I’ve not yet read To Kill A Mockingbid? Maybe I should follow your lead and read it soon!
I hope you’re enjoying camp 🙂
I will check to make sure it worked for you Nikki-ann. I will kick it…. or maybe the Linky is out of gas. 😉
And yes, read To Kill A Mockingbird soon! 😀
It worked for me in the end, thanks. I just hit the refresh button a few times and it finally loaded.
It looks like I’ve got that whole Hunger Games series to catch up on too.
I too, am eagerly anticipating Mockingjay! I just got notified it shipped so it might be too slow for me. I might end up stopping and buying it the second it hits the shelves. I may even end up at a midnight release party! BUT, and this is a big but, we’re BROKE so I’ll probably just have to be patient and wait for it to arrive. And stay away from all things Mockingjay on the internet (VERY difficult!).
A release party Candace! How fun! I was out of town and missed the official release and hope to catch up on the excitement on Wednesday 😀
I actually got the post up before 2pm! Not bad…
Off to read…
Have a great week, Sheila!
Woo hoo Alison! 😀
You enjoy your week too
So far I left comments of #1-33 and #68-78 (43).
I like how you mix it up Jen and catch the larger numbers as well. When I go on the posts I like to start from the bottom and work my way up 😀
I’m still reading away! I was a bit disheartened, though, when a book arrived today that I need to read and I realized it’s 700 pages! :p
700 pages Hannah! WOW! Hope it is a good one 😀
I’m another really looking forward to Mockingjay!! I’m currently reread Catching Fire and heartbreaking as it is, I know Mockingjay will be worse. Waiting til Wednesday when the US gets it tomorrow may kill me though lol
Cem I am starting it on Wednesday as well (and with a little luck finishing on Wednesday too!)
😀
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on To Kill a Mockingbird and Mockingjay of course! I’ve heard of Prep but haven’t read it. I’m also afraid of The Passage, but maybe someday I’ll give it a shot! Have a great week.
Its not scary Bailey – The Passage I mean…. it is intense for sure… but I think it may surprise you – it did me 😀
Hi Shelia, first time at this meme. Wonderful blog!
Here’s my Monday post
Paula
Thank yo Paula and so glad tyo have you here. Wish I would have been on town on Monday to really say WELCOME 😀
I’ve seen Prep School a few times. It’s starting to interest me. Loved To Kill A Mockingbird!
Rereading The Hunger Games and Catching Fire now so I can’t start on Mockingjay the minute it is delivered!
Go Page! I think I will put up a linky to peoples reviews so I can check them all out once I am done with Mockingjay 😀
I cannot wait to read Mockingjay! I’ve been waiting for this book for a very long time.
Loved To Kill a Mockingbird when I read it in high school, but I’ve never re-read it.
Mare I have too and now I cant believe it is here 😀
Sheila,
I’m going a happy dance. I was able to visit over 30 blogs today! My grandson is with his daddy so I was able to actually sit here and visit. Found a few new blogs that I really liked too.
Dollycas
Oh good Dollycas – I love that! 😀
Joining in for the first time. Here’s mine: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2010/08/its-monday-what-are-you-reading.html
Welcome Bev! 😀 Cant wait to read your post 😀
I hope you have so much fun reading Mockingjay! I’m waiting to get it from the library, probably, so I’m not sure when it will come. I’m like 325 on the list, so maybe awhile 🙂
Thanks Kim – wow #325! I am so surprised that libraries put their lists that long! That amazes me 😀
Everyone is so excited for Mockingjay and I haven’t read the Hunger Games yet. I need to remedy that!
Yes Holly you do! Run out and start reading right away – I will wait here 😀
I’ve left comments on 30 blogs so far.
Thanks Heather – I just love the community of this meme! 😀
