Morning Meanderings… ugh where’s my review book?

Good morning everyone. I hope all your weekend plans are coming along nicely. It hasn’t been too bad here. We had a weird Saturday – gorgeous morning, storming by noon, tornado warnings by 1, then cleared, then stormed, clear, rain, cloudy then more thunder and rain. Our weather has been really odd this summer.

Anyway, a girl my son works with loaned me her copy of The Lovely Bones DVD. She knows what a book nut I am and she asked me if I had read Lovely Bones, which I had…. a long time ago (if I could find my review book I could tell you when). She wanted to know if I had went to the movie and I told her I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see the movie. I really struggled with the audio and thought maybe I would catch it sometime later. Well, she sent the movie home with my son and I did watch it last night and was actually surprised how well I did like it.

I am going to post a review later today on the book vs. audio vs. movie. Which brings me to the fact that I can not find my review book that I wrote in prior to the blog and I am frustrated by this. I know I recently had it out for something and it has to be somewhere in this house. This book contains about 8 years of reviews prior to the blog so it is important to me. I wanted to pull out some of my original thoughts on the book when I read it and hopefully I will find it and be able to do that.

Ok – enough wining about my missing review book. Today is my 23rd anniversary. I know, right? Twenty three years. I told my hubby it couldn’t possibly be that long but he did the math for me (he is a math guy) and sure enough. I have been married for over half of my life. We are not big celebration people so nothing really planned for today. We may go out to dinner. I told him we could just high-five. 😀

Today is also the last day to enter the Book Extravaganza giveaway!

I am off to take another walk through the house for my book. Have a beautiful Sunday!

  1. Happy anniversary! And good luck on finding your review book. I will be interested in the comparison of the book vs. audio vs. movie. It is strange how different a story can seem depending on the media. My mailboxes are here and here. Happy reading!

  2. Firstly, Happy Anniversary! 🙂 I hope you both have a wonderful day.

Secondly, I hope you find your book. I’m sure it will turn up somewhere (probably when you’re not looking for it!).

  3. Yes, that’s what usually happens…you’ll be doing something else, having decided to just give up. And then it will be right there, almost in front of you.

At least that seems to happen to me.

Congrats on the 23 years. A great accomplishment in this day and age.

    Enjoy your day.

  4. Happy Anniversary Sheila! If you celebrate every day together, there’s no need for a “big celebration”. Enjoy your day!

  5. Congrats! 23 years is quite an accomplishment these days.

Ah…The Lovely Bones, that book was a bit too graphic for me. I like shiny happy books. Though I think at some point I may brave the movies, though I think I’ll probably brave The Twilight films first, because at least those movies have eye candy, and I do like some eye candy.

      1. Yeah..tis a shame. Mark Wahlberg could have been eye candy but they really uglied him up for that film.

Have you read Gabrielle Zevin’s Elsewhere? Its has an interesting afterlife theme.

  6. Our anniversary is the one day we celebrate each year; we’re now at 35 years. So, happy anniversary – good evening to go out to eat, don’t you think?

You must not have gotten the “baseball-size” hail I heard about on the news this morning. At least a part of Minn. got it, broke out car windows, etc. Scary!

I agree, you’ll find the book when you’re looking for something else.

  7. Happy anniversary! I haven’t read (or seen) The Lovely Bones, for what sounds like the same reason you put off watching the movie. I look forward to your review.

    1. The book is different Christina and I don’t remember a lot of details other than what i do remember seems to be real close to the movie which is always a plus.

  8. Happy Anniversary-have a lovely day-I am with you-I acknowledge it however it is more of a Hallmark celebration-I like doing our own celebration. Picnic dinner at the beach works for me.

    1. Thank you Esme – that is so my style. I wouldn’t mind even grilling steaks – I wish I could picnic at a beach that was quiet and lovely… 😀

    1. Thank you Book Whisperer – actually…. I did go to Nisswa this morning with Chance. It is a little touristy town close to Brainerd that is fun just to explore and at their book store they have ARC’s in a basket for a $2 donation each. I picked up three… 😀

  9. Congratulations on 23 years. Yes it does go by fast. We celebrated 38 years last month, much more than half our lives. It doesn’t seem possible that our children are as old as they are and our grandson turned 12 in March. Time flies whether you are paying attention or not.
We don’t celebrate either, at least not on THE DAY. My husband was in the Air Force for 24 years and they don’t pay any attention to holidays or anniversaries of any type. We learned early on that it is just a date. We can celebrate that day or event any time and any way we want. I never understood some coworkers who had to have the day off because it was their anniversary or a family member’s birthday.
