Morning Meanderings – Blog Survey Results

Good morning everyone!  Last night I pulled the survey that I have had at the top of this blog for a month and tallied the results.  As promised, here they are:

How Long Have You Been Reading Book Journey?

I’m new! 1 month or less
37 23%
2-4 months
50 30%
4 – 8 months
41 25%
over 8 months
36 22%

What Do You Like About Book Journey

What Genres Do You Enjoy?

How Did You Originally Find This Blog?

Nimbus 2000 and Firebolt are both brands of what?

103 said brooms

20 said I dont know

37 were left blank

5 answers were just fun:

  • sticks Harry flies on
  • wands
  • search engines
  • internet software (2 answered this)
  • Virus blocker

*I loved the extra answers and have to say while Nimbus 2000 and Firebolts are both brooms used in the Harry Potter books, I think virus blocker could also work!  😀

What Age Group Do You Fall Into?

I will do another survey in another six months or so to see how things have changed.  This was a lot of fun and thank you to all who participated!

Have a fantastic day  – any fun weekend plans?

  1. Oh I loved this post! I did answer the survey too, by the way. And I literally laughed at the Harry Potter answers.. haha. Have a great day.

    1. It was fun Amy – I picked u the idea from the BBC. It was interesting to see where most of my readers came from. It really made me realize that it is important to connect with other bloggers – I like to do that anyway! 🙂

  2. How in the world did you figure out how to do all those graphs and charts and… That would have taken me an entire day.

Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂

    1. Lynne – I cant take any credit for it – I was using Google docs for the survey and I thought I would have to hand tally the results when I clicked a button on the form and it converted it for me! 😀

Copy and paste – two of my favorite things to do! LOL

    1. Hannah I was surprised by how many found me through other blogs – not surprised that is was the largest section of readers, but just by how much larger it was.

Whats also interesting is about 4 months ago I changed my reading up a bit and have learned to be more choosy when I accept a book to review and I think that brought me to a better place in my reviews and it looks like my readers enjoy it too :).

Seeing the genre mix is just fun because I am an eclectic reader and cover most of those genres, although was surprised that mysteries took the top spot.

The broom question was random and fun and I got a lot of comments on that that cracked me up. 🙂

I think it will be really interesting to run this same (or similar) survey again in time and see how things change…

  3. Well, that was intriguing…I am glad to finally know the answer to that question. I would have chosen some sort of computer software, but finally said I didn’t know. Since I haven’t read the Harry Potter books (although I did see some of the movies), I guess I wouldn’t know.

    Love the graphs and charts.

    1. Laurel – thanks – the questions was a fun one as so many people know and love the Potter books – but not everyone has experienced them or even care to (oooh I shudder to think of it – LOL)

  4. Interesting statistics Sheila. There are a lot of mystery readers. I haven’t read a mystery in years. I guess I better hit B&N this weekend…any excuse! 🙂 Are there any good mysteries you or your readers would recommend to get me hooked again?

    1. Thanks Jill – I love a good mystery too! 😀

Hmmmm….. a good mystery….. two of my favorite authors along the mystery lines (Dean Koontz and Harlan Coben) both disappointed me in their most recent books.

I book I would recommend – not really a mystery but one of my all time favorites is Summerhouse by Jude Deveroux. I don’t think you would be disappointed. 🙂

    2. I tweeted for good mysteries and here are some responses:

Think of a Number by Verdon or Damaged by Callow

Refuge on Crescent Hill (Christian Fiction)

Any book written by Henning Mankell

Books by Dorothy Sayers’ Peter Wimsey

      1. Thank so much for all of the selections. I’ll write down the titles and authors. I actually have Summerhouse on my TBR bookshelf. Thanks! 🙂

    1. Sounds good Patty. Its pretty warm here too…. lots of outdoor things I could be doing but it feels like walking through soup to do it.

Have a wonderful time. Al should be home soon and it is his pick as to wear we do dinner tonight.

  5. Interesting results. will be interesting to see if things change much in 6 months.
I know, that is why you are doing it.
Hope you have a good weekend.

  6. Interesting to see the results! My blog anniversary is coming up and I might have to try conducting a similar survey. Although I’m not quite sure that my blog has a large enough following. Yet.

  7. Very interesting results! I’ll be curious how things change (or not)! And, love the answers to the Harry Potter question!
