  1. Little known fact about me:

    I have a twin brother. I’m 5’0″ and he’s 6′ 3″.
He’s always been taller than me, even as kids.

  2. Something about me- I wrote a story about my childhood and it’s published in Chicken Soup for the Sister’s Soul. It’s called A Childhood Memory, and it’s about my relationship to my sister, of course.

    bgcchs(at)yahoo(dot)com

  3. hmm, something about me…i have huge fear of clowns..so much so that I won’t take my kids to the fair or circus..I have others take them for me.

  4. Thanks for the giveaway!!
About me: I had plastic surgery when I was three, after I hit a windowsill and cut my bottom lip in half.

  5. I moved to Nashville in 1991 to be a singer…not a country singer, mind you. I was a rock singer in my home town (Midland, Michigan). Did some open mic stuff and sang occasionally with a local band and some karaoke, of course. Was in a band when first moved to Nashville, but their style was not my cup of tea. Had a couple of auditions, but nothing ever worked out. It’s a hard business to break into and there was no American Idol or other such shows back then. So I gave it up. 😦 I still love to sing though…mostly karaoke. My sister is a singer too and we have joked about auditioning for America’s Got Talent as a duet. Maybe we will…who knows!

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  6. Let’s see …

I played the violin from the 4th grade through the 9th grade. I quite after that because I developed tendinitis in my left wrist. Doctors said I could lose use of that hand, and being a lefty that’s not something I wanted to risk.

  7. Hhhhhhmmmmm . . . well, I guess it would be that I am an introvert. People usually say, “You?” But if you take the Myers-Briggs personality test, you will learn that a true introvert draws energy from within his/herself, while an extrovert gets his/her batteries charged externally. So while I’m very outgoing, friendly (not a bit shy), & assertive, I have a limited tolerance for interaction. When I’m done, I’m done. I need to be alone. That’s why being a lawyer is the perfect profession for me: A balance of time spent arguing cases & time spent in my office alone preparing to argue!

    Thanks!

  8. A little known fact about me….well it’s not well known because I don’t get the chance to do either very often but I am ambidextrous at two things, playing pool and shooting a gun.
    Thanks for the chance. 🙂

  9. The only useful thing I learned in HS French class (besides how to have a really great French accent) is this little French song (a diddy really) that puts every baby I’ve ever come across to sleep. Seriously. I think it’s magical. I’m the go to for crying babies. I rock them, sing to them and they sleep! It’s super great!

  10. It was high school biology, and we were having lab. My group asked me to go fetch the ethanol, so I went over to the cabinet and opened it.

There were about six hundred bajillion beakers, each filled with different liquids, and not a single one labeled.

    Lovely.

I glanced at the clock and saw there were about 0.5 seconds until the bell rang, so I had to make this snappy. Scratching my scalp, I remembered that ethanol was alcohol, and alcohol has a distinct smell… right? So one by one, I started to sniff each and every beaker.

I never made it to the one containing ethanol, but the rest of the day was rather pleasant. Until, that is, I crashed during drama. While doing an impassioned improvisation.

We didn’t do so well on the lab.

  11. A little known piece of information about my past is that I once dressed up as Peter Chris (the one who looked like a cat) from the singing group Kiss and sang in front of the entire school, I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night. This was a big deal for me. I was in the sixth grade and had been voted “most shy”. Thirty three years later, I still remember how sweaty my hands got. 🙂

  12. I spent a whole year learning to play the clarinet before my instructor suggested that I try another extracurricular activity. I learned 8 notes. Isn’t that enough for one year?

  13. I have a crush on my moms boyfriends best friends oldest daughter. I’ve had this crush on her since I was around 9 years old (I am now 23) and tt doesn’t look like it’s going to go away any time soon.

  14. In high school biology class, my partner was a big football player. When we had to dissect the frog, the pig and so he turned green and got sick. I did all of it for the poor guy. On one part. the nervous system, I misunderstood the assignment. I thought we were supposed to remove it intact. My teach was shocked when I did it. She kept saying “how did you do it”. Steady and careful hand. LOL

  15. I went on a mission trip to Lima, Peru once. It was absolutely amazing. We visited orphanages and churches and were partnered with a local to show us around. It was a great experience! emilyjoymitchell(at)gmail(dot)com

  16. I was an extra in a movie, about 15 years ago. It believe it was only released in Japan. I’ve never seen the movie- nor do I remember the name of it. I do remember that horrendous sunburn I got standing out in the midday Hawaiian sun for hours.

  17. Oh gosh, something about myself… that should be easy, but I am drawing a blank… Ok, here it is.. I was in dance line in high school for 3 years. Every year, there were awards handed out at the end of the year. My senior year I won the “best dancer” award. The best dancer was choosen by all the other dancers in the dance line, so that was a pretty cool award to win! 😉

  18. I have an unused drum set sitting in my parent-in-law’s basement because I want to learn to play SO badly, but I never live anywhere that has space & won’t mind letting me play (because I’d hate to wake up my neighbors, lol!)

    : )
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  19. My dad grew up in the Bahamas and, since my grandma was Bahamian and she and my papa lived there until she passed away, I got to go to the Bahamas every summer for vacation! This is a surprise to anyone who gets to know me before knowing this fact!

  20. My husband hates having the dog (a little terrier) on the bed. When DH is away on business, the dog sleeps on his side. And then I wash the all the sheets/quilt before he returns.

    It’s not a special talent….is marital deception a talent?

  21. I played clarinet for one year but dropped it to focus on viola which I have now played for almost thirteen years. One might think I was absolutely fantastic on it but one would be wrong.

  22. I have a fear of getting lost at the mall -not lost as in where I am but where is the person who came with me-if I go to the mall with you you have to stay by my side.

  23. A fact about me is that if I could have a wish granted, I would wish for my book (when it’s finished) to be published. My dream is to be a NYT besteller 😀

    Thank you !

  24. Sounds like a great contest! 🙂

Hmmm, a little known fact about me… I’m completely addicted to playing The Sims 3. I can play it for hours on end, and I make up story lines that i have to follow, and twists and turns. I tried talking about my stories to someone once, and they just ended up getting confused. It’s like I play out the movie scripts in my head with my sims. 😛

  25. This is a fun question! Let’s see…
When I was 12 I drove my uncle’s brother’s beautiful red Porsche! He found out I thought his car was great so at my Uncle’s wedding, he took me for a spin in his car, found a quiet road and let me drive it…very fast! It was my first and best driving experience!

Thank you for a wonderful giveaway!

  26. An unknown fact about me, atleast to bloggers, is that when I was in sixth grade, I climbed up onto the roof of the church after a football. I went to jump off only to sprain my left foot and land in a wasps nest which resulted in three stings. When the guy who was supposed to catch me started yelling at me to run I yelled back at him that I couldn’t but he didn’t listen so I swore at him right on church property. *Oops* An innocent bystander was stung in the ear.

    ~Briana

  27. I can’t decide between two, so I’ll share them both:

Sheryl Crow was my roommate in L.A. when she first moved there from Missouri – just before she became big time. She did an interview for a St. Louis paper where she talked about these “wild girls” she moved in with in L.A.

I’m 46 years old and can still walk on my hands. I was a gymnast in high school (a tall one…I’m 5’10”).

  28. Little-known fact about me:
I won the DAR award for history when I was in the eighth grade.

    Even lesser-known fact:
When someone broke into my house and stole my jewelry box, they also got the DAR award, which was of no value (to them) at all. Just to me.

  29. I have had to have stitches 5 times. Twice in one month, I was a very clumsy child. (and daring apperantly)

  30. How fun! Hmm… oh I know! I hate sports and hated gym class… but senior year… my two best friends and I won the badminton tournament in gym class and gloated like a bunch of idiots. 🙂

  31. A funny fact about me is that I used to be quite a serious Bingo addict. It was not out of the ordinary for me to play anywhere from 18-24 bingo cards at a time. And that was when we actually used bingo chips rather than dobbers. Of course I used the magnetic chips so you would just pick them up with the magnetic wand after a game. How I loved the sound of those chips hitting the wand! I think I could easily fall into the habit again!

  32. A little known fact about me is that whenever someone knocks on the door, or I see someone I know outside (or someone I don’t know approaching the house), my first instinct is to duck and roll.

    Yeah. That’s right. I’m a superspy

  33. I am of Chinese and Filipino decent, but when I was little I swore that I was Mexican because I loved Mexican food.
Funny, because I actually later found out that I’m part Spanish…

  34. I had a very difficult time during my 4th grade year in school when my father was diagnosed with brain cancer. I was also bullied as well. I thought I was going to held back that year. However, at the end of the school year, the school principal awarded me a very special award where the principal chooses one student out of the whole 4th grade class as best student or something like that and I was the chosen student. I was so surprised and very happy and I think my father would be too.

  35. Not many people know that I was in Marine JROTC my freshman year of high school…and when they find out they are usually shocked because it is so unlikely.
    throuthehaze at gmail dot com

  36. JROTC, that’s pretty cool, Throuthehaze! Did you get to do the gun twirling thing? I always thought that was neat.
    Anyway!
A little known fact about me is that I was raised Catholic but didn’t join the Church until this past spring. I was in RCIA (Right of Catholic/Christian Innitiation for Adults) from Sept ’09 to Mar ’10 and it was the BEST thing I ever did! Ever! I’m now preparing to be a Catechist myself and will be helping the pre-Confirmation class (something I’m really excited but also nervous about, so feel free to float a prayer my way if you feel so inclined).

BTW, great question! I loved reading everyone’s answers. Y’all’re so interesting!

  37. I have very strict sleeping rules when I’m alone. Not at sleepovers or anything, but when I’m just spending a quite night with myself, I can’t sleep unless…
    1. The door is completely closed
    2. All mirrors must be facing a wall
    3. The blinds must but turned up so that air can come in, but I can’t see the window.
    4. The dvd player must be on and playing a light comedy while I sleep.

    thanks for the contest!

  41. Little known fact:
I am writing a book for my girls. I am writing it chapters at a time and every time they read the latest chapter they beg for me to write the next one ASAP so they can see what happens. So far it has been a lot of fun and a great bonding experience.

  42. I spent the summer in Brazil after my sophomore year in college; I was supposed to be staying in the home of friends in Rio de Janeiro the entire time, but a group of five of us actually spent the time traveling and camping the eastern coastline of the country in a small Ford hatchback. What great memories!

  43. I’ve lived for 34 years by dialysis or kidney transplant since my kidneys failed when I was 26.

What a generous thing to do. I’d love to win a copy of Born Under a Million Shadows. Thank you for the chance to enter.

  44. Hi there! *waves* A little unknown fact about me is that (haha) when I was little, I used to scratch the wall a lot (I do not know why) and so I made a hole in the wall. My dad had to cover up the wall again with plaster, so now there’s one part of the wall (white) that looks different.

I wonder if I do regret doing this…. I wonder.

  45. I have a twin brother whose name is Robert; he is taller, thinner and has darker skin; I am Robyn, 5’3″, packed on lbs. and am so fair some people ask me if I am sick or not feeling good.

  46. I was in an international honor band in high school. We met for a long weekend and practiced for seven hours a day and I thought it was heaven on earth. We had a big concert at the end of the four days. Of course I also discovered during that weekend just how good the other players were, and decided that flute playing would give me more joy as a hobby than as a profession.

  47. Not many people know that I was the sports editor of our yearbook in highschool. Very out of character to do anything involving a lot of sports!
Thanks for the chance to win.

  52. A little known fact about me… hmmm… okay, I’m really crazy about being environmentally friendly. I use cloth diapers, we eat and drink almost exclusively organic and use only natural products for cleaning (our bodies and our house) and shop for locally grown/made foods. We do the normal as well, reusable shopping bags, etc. We also only use one car and my hubby carpools once or twice a week so I can run the errands, etc.
Thanks so much for this great giveaway!

  53. A little know fast about me I saw a play in Chicago while going to school there and on the way out pushed past Ethan Hawke out the door without even noticing. And he was the star of the play we just saw. I got a lot of flack for that for the rest of the night.

  59. I’ve already told you so many little know things about me that I don’t know what’s left. So let me think for a moment……………Hmmm……….one moment please……..Ok how about this. In 5th grade I watched a made for TV movie about a nuclear bomb going off in the United States. There was one section of the movie that showed people going about their everda lifes. Playing on the playground, getting married, walking, you get the point. Well the movie showed them all doing their normal thing, the bomb going off, and them all falling down where they were. So for about 2 weeks I would pretend I was in the movie and just fall down from whatever I was doing. Even if it was riding my bike or swining on the swingset. I would be all having fun, then kaput, fall on the ground.

  60. Sheila, You are so awesome for always wanting to get to know us! Thank you!

  62. Little known fact: A couple years after we graduated from college, my friend and I drove (well, mostly she drove, it was her little Honda with a stick shift) from the Twin Cities to Anchorage. I can still remember one night we stayed in a rundown hotel in the middle of nowhere with a shower that you had to turn on with a wrench! It was a great trip!

  63. Hmmm… a little known fact about me is that I can pick up things with my toes. Slightly strange, but it comes in handy sometimes!

  64. I have two lfacts about myself 🙂

    1. I am the book club president for my school 🙂 It’s a group of 35 girls that go to my highschool. We decided that we needed to have a president so that we could have some one specific to organize events that we do and stuff. Now every book we read for book club is bought for every girl. Before we use to get them from other librarys, now we own them all ! 😀

    2. I spelled the word dream wrong on the 5th grade spelling bee 🙂

  65. I have four Chihuahuas and they mean everything to me. Please include me in your giveaway.

  68. Hmm…a little known fact about me… I am a New Kids On The Block fan. Heehee. I even recently went to their concert and it was the best I’ve ever been to.

  69. You are offering some excellent books.

Little known fact. I have eaten dog. It is really rather good. Can’t eat dogs I know and like. Have a hard time raising creatures like cows and pigs for food. Chickens are a bit easier if you don’t have just one or two and know them personally.

Thanks for the participation in this giveaway.
    Have a great weekend.

  70. I keep telling myself I won’t enter these, but…sigh…they look too good here! Ah well. I give in. Little known fact about me: In elementary school, I was taught several basic phrases in Indonesian AND how to play the ukelele. 😀

  71. A little known fact about me: I played the flute in 7th grade. I still have one but don’t really remember how to play.

  72. Well know fact among my friends and family, I have a huge collection of (4000 or more) cookbooks I’ve collected since the age of 15. Many moons ago!

Biggest fear is lightning…I will not go outside if its lightning, or even get out of a car if it is storming. I love to watch them (storms) though . Weird I know!

  73. Hmm.. little fact about me is that I play the guitar and the piano, and taught myself. My mom was a musician when she was in her 20’s, and that has always inspired me.

  74. Fact about myself — When I was young I fell off my bike and broke my leg just before my big ballet recital. My dance instructor was so impressed when she saw me dancing around the studio when we went in for class photos before the recital, that she allowed me to dance in the recital — cast and all.

  75. I used to make a lot of craft items when I was younger. I don’t think my daughters even know that.

    seriousreader at live dot com

  76. Something about me, lets see…
I owe 359 pair of shoes and the only other thing that I have more of than shoes is books. Number of books is in thousands. My friends adn family refer to me as shoe/book store.

  77. I used to collect “rocks” when I was little. Which essentially meant I’d walk up to the main road that I live off of, squat down with a shoe box, and gather pieces of pavement that were breaking off. I almost got hit by a car like six times, but I kept doing it. My mom doesn’t want to me to take a geology class now in college because she fears I’ll start doing it again and not escape the seventh car.

    melodiousrevelry (at) gmail (dot) com

  78. I have no problem with heights, as long as I’m secured. If I’m even a few feet up but I’m not stuck in place, I freak. So, last week when I was on the 6 and a half feet rock climbing wall (for little kids!) I nearly had a heart attack.

    rivkarno1(at)hotmail(dot)com

  79. I recently adopted a female puppy from the animal shelter. They euthanized her brothers and sisters for being too vicious since the previous owner abused them. I saved her from the same fate.

I really LOVE how it taste with vanilla though.
