Morning Meanderings… is that bacon?

Hmmmm….. what is that smell this morning?  Is that bacon and pancakes?  Couldn’t be….

But it is!  😀

Normally life is so busy for Al and I we rarely have breakfast.  I may grab a banana on the way out the door or an instant packet of oatmeal to take to work with me but that’s about it.  Breakfasts – real breakfasts only happen when we get away for the weekends like to the cabin.  Even though we didn’t make it there this weekend, I still had purchased items to make the rare breakfasts.  (We pretty much have been eating everything I had packed in the cooler this weekend).

This morning – honestly…. we slept in.  We had a wonderful time at our friends house for dinner last night.  We sat on their deck and grilled chicken and enjoyed a lovely meal, and conversation until 10:30 at night!  This morning neither one of us were in any hurry to get up and I have to say that was kind of nice too.  So breakfast it is!  And I have to say, it does smell gooooooood!

Today I am going to catch up on a few things around the house, I may time a bike ride, spend some time with Chance and basically stay mellow before I hit the ground running tomorrow.

Couple “Blogkeeping” things:

The top commenter each month wins a $20 gift card to Amazon!  Yay to Hannah!  😀

Dont forget that the survey that has been posted on top for the past month ends on July 15th.  If you had not taken a minute to fill out that form I would really appreciate it if you would…. I will post the overall results!

  1. Good morning, Sheila! Okay, now you have me wanting bacon…and there’s none in my house!

I only ever eat turkey bacon these days, but I like it. It’s easy to throw it in the microwave (I know, the lazy woman’s cooking!), and with scrambled eggs, it’s delicious. Or on a BLT.

Okay, now I have to go to the store to get bacon! See what you started???

    Have a great weekend.

  2. Bacon is just lovely. I went vegetarian for seven years, and it was the only item other than pepperoni I missed. Hmm..piggies are good. 😉

  3. Wow! I thought I was seeing things when I saw my name! How exciting! If I’m understanding the Prize Box correctly, I can choose any book that still remains? If so, I would love to read The Girl She Used to Be. I have that on my to be purchased list. Thanks so much Sheila and enjoy your breakfast. You’ll need some fuel for that bike ride. Happy Sunday!

    1. HI Jill – yup its you and yes that’s how it works 🙂 Email me your address and I will ship that your way this week:

      journey through books @gmail.com

and thansk for hanging out here – love the conversations:)

  4. Thank you-bacon yummy-I am emailing you my choice-I am going to choose Daughter of Mine-PS I posted a breakfast recipe this morning you will probably enjoy.

  5. My hubby always gets up before I do. Weekdays and some Saturdays it is because he has to go to work at 5:30 AM. I don’t get to bed until well after midnight, so I sleep a bit later. Sundays his body clock still has him getting up early, if not at 4:30. Most Sundays he has bacon frying and is just waiting for me so we can have eggs, waffles, pancakes, or now because our tomatoes are coming in the garden, a BLT. If we decide to skip the Sunday morning news programs (Meet The Press and Face The Nation), we sit out on the porch and enjoy the peace & quiet and fresh air.

    1. Yummy! Hannah that looks good! I wish Al cooked but he does not…. we joke that if anything ever happens to me he will have to but stock in McDonalds 😀

  6. Someone say turkey bacon!? I absolutely love turkey bacon, the only kind of bacon I eat!
Sheila- I finished The Forgotten Garden, wow what a great book. I posted my review on my blog if you’d like to take a look =)
