The Bloggiesta – That’s A Wrap!

*Whew*  I made it.  Bloggiesta this weekend was a lot of fun and while I had big commitments I was able to put in time around them and actually make a bigger dent than I thought I would in blog upkeep, repairs, maintenance…

Here’s the drive through version:

  • I worked on and completed all mini challenges (except the picture one – which would have been fun, but I just didnt get there…..  “Doh!”)

  • I painted – (err…. changed) my blog background color.  (If you were with me through the many hours I spent working on that – thank you for your input and support!)

  • I wrote the 10 reviews I had pending and have them drafted and ready to go… a day at a time

  • I wrote two Rainy Day posts – that are really fun (I think) and can’t wait for it to rain!  😀

  • I sent out two author chats and wanted to do more, and will!

  • I gave my side bars some love – and they need a little more yet….

  • I spent several hours making a new header, deleting it, making a new header, deleting it… until finally at about 1:30 am on Sunday morning I managed to create this one and like it.  *Small victory dance!

  • I went visiting new blogs – which I always enjoy and made my way to 33 new blogs to me, and 72 Bloggiesta participant blog visits over all

  • Blogging Buddy was actually a Fall 09 Bloggiesta challenge but I saw that Lydia at The Lost Entwife was looking for one so we completed the secret blogger handshake.

SO… overall I put in 28 hours in the Bloggiesta which is amazing considering I worked 10 hours on Friday and had dinner plans, had a set up commitment on Saturday and more dinner plans, and Sunday set up beds for 16 people in our homeless program, purchased the food needed for the week,  and helped make dinner for the guests as well.

Oh and winner of the Pinanta hitting challenge (using random.org) is:

Samantha (Runner Sami)

Samantha’s comment was:  Great post! I would have to use a lightsaber if I could. If we’re being realistic then I’d use a poker. :)

Samantha – email me your shipping info and I will get the book and chocolates  out to you this week!

CrAzY wEeKeNd – but so much fun.  😀

  1. So glad you got so much done!!

I on the other hand had more interruptions those 3 days than I usually do in 2 weeks so I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked.

  2. You got so much done and I really like the new header and color scheme. It makes me want to delve into my gardening books.

I hit a #bloggiesta wall on Sunday, just couldn’t do one more thing. The cool thing is that now I have a to-do list to work from.

  3. You did a fantastic job! I love the new colors so much (Green is my favorite color) and your new header is gorgeous.

I’m lucky to have a blogger buddy like you!

  4. You forgot to mention commenting on everyone’s posted comments….you are amazing! We need to get you a cape with “Wonder Blogger” on it!

  5. Your blog looks great, and even though I thought it looked fabulous before, it’s always fun to change things around.

I use Picnik now for collages for my Word Press headers, but have only used the “simple” designs, rather than the one requiring upgrades.

I saw in one of your comments that you use CSS to create the boxes around your sidebar images. They look great!

So congratulations, and since you put in a lot of time, you should probably get some kind of medal…or at least a Woo-Hoo!

    1. Laurel – I have no idea how I did the boxes to be quite honest…LOL. Its a total fluke…. I can not take any credit for it… but I like it too 😀

  6. Wow Sheila! You had a busy couple of days! But better busy and having fun and taking care of business than bored with nothing to do. But once in a while that is fun to have as well…:)

    1. bookjunkiemomo9, I never use the “b” word. (bored) Oops just did! 🙂

I have no idea how people get there… I always have something to do! 😀

  7. Wow. Nice new do!

Amazing how much you got done what with all those prior commitments.

Much of my weekend endeavors aren’t visible on my blog yet (other than the three posts) as I decided early on I’m after a new template so there didn’t seem much sense in messing with the current one. I found my template but am too nervous to do the change-over without help which my husband was going to give me Sunday afternoon to make the change my grand finale. But then we had unexpected company. So soon I hope. I’ve been wanting a 3 column template for a long time.

    1. Joy I am a born overachiever and just do not know when to quit. 🙂 I stayed up late and worked on tasks but am thrilled that I did. Once I start taking care of my blog, the passion is rekindled and I just want to keep on going!

  8. 28 hours????!!! Holy cannoli! You got tons done … I’m jealous of your 10 reviews!! I’m so far behind on my reviews that I doubt I’ll ever catch up. I like the new colors though. And I still need to come up with a blog header myself.

    1. Jenners it is so hard to catch up when you get behind! I am usually pretty good at read a book – write a review, but that flew out the door… I hope not to let that happen again. Hope. 🙂

  9. I am beyond impressed! Just the pended book reviews alone would have done me in for the weekend. You accomplished sooo much… (clapping hands in congratulations).

    Now…take a breath…enjoy your labors…then back to work. ha… 😀

  10. Morning Sheila,
I was trying to participate in your book survey this morning but the questions aren’t loading. I was wondering if anyone else was having a problem?
Have a great day and pass it on!

    1. Hi Jill – see my Morning Meandering post…. I didn’t mean to post the survey yet and accidentally did last night. I put it back to draft. It will go up today. 🙂

  11. Congratulations, Samantha.

And congratulations, Sheila. You certainly had a successful Bloggiesta. I like the lighter color of your background. I had trouble reading your site on my netbook because it was too dark. I liked the color, but this works better. Sometimes all we need is an excuse to sit down and force ourselves to take the time to do things we have been meaning or wanting to do.

Now that we are back from a 2 week trip, I’ll have to do a house and yardiesta. I hope I can accomplish as much as you did.

    1. Thanks Pat it was a lot of work – but a lot of fun. I wish I would have had more time. I may need to do a mini Bloggiesta next weekend to finish everything I wanted to get done.

  12. Congratulations!!!
I love the new color on your blog walls. They make it look so much more lively just like the person we know you are. The last one gave the site a slightly dull look I guess (of course we never know till we see something better 🙂 )
