Morning Meanderings…

Good morning!  I think I will have Coffee Cup do the talking this morning because my head is pressed into the keyboard.  Ok, not really…. but I am tired.

Yesterday morning I participated in my Group Power Class for the first time in two weeks.  Today, I feel like I was ran over by a truck.  (Since I have a business conference today I can only be hopeful that I do not look like I was hit by a truck as well…)  After class, Justin (my 20 year old) and I road tripped to MPLS. for the day to go to IKEA to look for ideas for his apartment he will have when he goes back to college this fall.

We had a great day of hanging out together and … of course I did stop at The Mother Ship (B & N) and picked up…. The Short Second Life of bree tanner.

Ok I admit it.  I am a closet Twilighter.   For the most part I liked the books and do plan on seeing all the movies.  There.  It’s out there.  What a weight off my shoulders.  (*as I cross my arms across my chest to cover up the Team Edward T-Shirt).

Funniest thing… on the book cover there is a sticker that says one dollar from each book sold will be donated to The American Red Cross.  That – is just plain brilliant.  Hey, it had to be said.  Think about it.  That’s just great marketing.

Ok…. but enough about my super fun but lllloooonnnngggg day.  I do not have a bunch of time today as I leave here in an hour and a half, hopefully showered and fresh-faced (hoping I have dri-cleaned my spare fresh face because the one I have on I think looks tired).  Tomorrow…. is my Blogoversary.   YES!  I am planning a party here like its 1999.  Mmmmm hmmmm…. and you are going to want to attend because there will be a 48 hour giveaway and if you seen last years Blogoversary, it was a lot of fun.  It’s going to look a lot like that.  😀

As for today – The BEA Swag Bag Giveaway will start a bit later so watch for that.  You are going to want to be a part of this.

Leaving you with a little Kool and The Gang, Celebration.  (ahhhhh…the 80’s…… we really had good dance moves didn’t we?  ;D  )

  1. You made me laugh when you said you’re a closet Twilighter! Happy Blogiversary a day early – mine’s Saturday and I can’t decide if I’m going to do something or not.

  2. You are not alone! There are others of us out there that are closet Twilight fans and yes I purchased The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner too this week. I hang my head in shame, but smile gleefully to myself at having another Stephanie Meyer book in my possession.

  3. It sounds like you had a great day. I have heard of IKEA but have never ventured inside. Usually I am just passing through the Cities and don’t take the time to shop there.

I purchased The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner too. It should be arriving soon. I have read the books and seen the movies but don’t really consider myself a fan. I really liked the Twilight the Graphic Novel book I got because of the lovely art. I like the looks of the graphic novel Edward and Jacob better than the movie versions.

    Happy blogoversary!

    1. Kathy IKEA is filled with great things for small spaces. Perfect for apartments, dorms… we had a lot of fun!

YAY to the Twilighters – LOL! 😀 I am not sure I am a fan, but certainly have to give Stephanie Meyer credit for opening the doors to a whole lot of YA books that followed in her footsteps!

  4. First of all let me say, Happy Blogoversary:) Can’t wait for all the fun:) Secondly I am a closet Twilighter also, lol. I don’t make it public in every day life. It has been good though because my oldest daughter loves Twilight so it has been a way for us to bond. Besides who can resist a hunky, sparkly vampire and a ripped, hot werewolf;)
    Have a great day today:)

  5. A good idea – the donation to the American Red Cross. Is there any fine print? When you go to the website to register your buy does it say that they are only giving so much and that total had been reached? This happened with Dawn dish detergent and people who bought the Dawn thinking they were helping the birds, etc. of the Gulf Coast felt cheated.

    1. Hannah – yes it went fairly well. Justin found a couple shelves, some kitchen items, DVD cases, and we looked at beds too but did not make a decision yet. You have to love IKEA for great space saving items 🙂

      1. I wish I lived within (reasonable) driving distance of an Ikea. We’ve shopped there some, but the prices aren’t so reasonable when you add in super-spendy shipping!

  6. I love IKEA, but I’ve only gone once (in LA) and couldn’t buy, because I was visiting (and budgeting!).

But I could go crazy buying furniture. Almost as much of an obsession as books…ALMOST.

I decided that creating and designing new blogs (which I do a lot!) is a cheaper thrill that appeals to the “decorator” in me! What do you think?

I must admit that I am NOT a closet or any kind of Twilight fan, although I saw one of the movies with my teenage grandson (one of them).

    So…do Twilighters hate non-Twilighters? lol

    1. LOL Laurel – no hating here. 🙂 I know Twilight isnt a wonderfully deep read, I think for me it was just that an author took a Vampire character that has always been creepy and made them – appealing.

  7. Happy, happy, Sheila! I’ll be by tomorrow to join in the fun. Take care of yourself, girl, and don’t push too hard. We’ve gotta have you around and in good shape! LOL

And…another Twilight fan here and I’m so out of the closet about it. I was constantly talking about it at the library and encouraging moms to read it with their daughters. The movies are pretty good, but not exactly what I was expecting. Good enough though.

  8. I’ve already read Bree Tanner and enjoyed it. I am not a Twilight freak (go team Jacob), but liked reading the books!

And Celebrate by Cool and the Gang?! It just doesn’t get much better 🙂 Someone gave my daughter a doll when she was 2. It shimmied and sang Celebrate!

  9. You are so funny! Stopped by the Mother Ship – I love it!! I love B&N, and when we go to Fort Worth, it’s always a “must stop” for me! My husband shakes his head and says “don’t you have enough books to read?” GASP!!!! Why no, there’s always something new with nice fresh pages to look at and pet at the book store!!!!

  10. Okay closet bookaholic-do you not have enough books to read already-what is with book lovers-I do not think I have any other habit where I colllect and collect without using everything first. Hope you had fun with Justin.

  11. Though familiar with Celebrate, this is the first time I’ve ever seen this bit of film, many thanks for sharing it.

I’m glad I’m not the only one to think that money going to a charity in this way is a great marketing ploy – a win-win situation you might say.

  12. I never felt the Twilight series nudge me to read then. Same with the movies.

I do love me some IKEA, they have the most amazing bookshelves!!

My favorite bookstore is and will always be Books A Million. But…thanks to you I now want to move to NYC and live in Strand’s.

    1. Vicki I read the first one because a friend told me how good it was. I thought no way but read it and thought it was good. Then I read the rest too 🙂

Come to New York next year Vicki!

  13. i always start my day with a diet coke (no coffee for me!) and your morning meanderings…….
i am definitly a team edward…when i watched the second twilight movie i thought jacob was cute but to go further than that made me feel a tad icky……

  14. I’m also a closet Twilight fan. I thought they were for kids when a friend suggested I read it. Little did I know I would get hooked. “The Mother Ship”….too funny! Thanks for taking me back with Kool and the Gang…I did have some good moves back in the day. Well, at least I thought I did. 🙂 Happy Anniversary Eve!

  15. Interesting tie in with Bree Tanner and the Red Cross–someone was really thinking there.

    Team Jacob over here!

  16. Team Jacob here. Don’t cover your shirt. There are many “mature” (NEVER OLDER) people who are Twilight fans. I am looking forward to the next movie, and I have just the teens to take as an excuse since I’m not doing the libraryparties any more. I nee to get the new book or check to see if the library has it.
Wish we had an IKEA closer than 100 miles. We don’t need more furniture, but they are fun stores.

  17. Happy bloggiversary! I am so sad because my “Edward Cullen Fan Club” shirt is missing. It’s time to come out of the closet, girl, and join the ranks of full-fledged Twilight fans!! 😉

  18. Who isn’t a fan of the Twilight series.. I’ll admit I am too, even though I prefer Harry Potter. Of course though every time a new movie comes out I tend to reread that book if not all the ones before lol. HAPPY MONDAY!
