It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I love being a part of this and I hope you do too!  As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme.  I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment.  You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.

Last weeks winner (using Random.Org) was:

It doesn’t feel like I have been a week already from BEA.  I am still sleeping more and napping (see what happens when you take the small town girl to the big city of new York?)  I did finish a couple reads and have kept up on the posting this week so here is a recap:

Time Square Video (The start of the BEA/New York posts….)

BEA Recap On A Stick

BEA Slide Show of the New York Pictures

Tea with Adriana Trigiani (Oh wow – I mean… oh wow…..  seriously – wow)

The Opposite of Me by Sarah Pekkenen (review of the book and my story of meeting her in New York!)

The Girls From Ames by Jeffrey Zaslow (review)

The  Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini audio
(if you only have time to look at one post from the last week this is the one.  This audio knocked me for a loop and I RAVE about it!)

The Last Christian by David Gregory

Men and Dogs by Katie Crouch audio giveaway

Bride Collector by Ted Dekker audio giveaway (I reviewed this book and found it very good!)

Ok…. honestly, there are a lot of good posts from last week so I cant pick a fav…..  you are on your own.  😀

What’s Coming Up This Week?

This I am actually excited about!  Last week was so busy that I did not get much reading in and my week in New York was pretty much – forget about picking up a book.  So as I look through the books… what to read… what to read…

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Dreaming of Dior by Charlotte Smith

Clementine, Friend Of The Week

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

That’s the plan.  I have several books I am finishing up and still writing reviews for books I have finished. Oh and please make a note that Wednesday is my one Year Blogoversary and you are all invited to come back and join in on the giveaways and the fun!

I am actually excited to see what you are all reading this week so be sure to use Linky to share your It’s Monday What Are You Reading?

  1. I love the cover of Dreaming of Dior-I told you you are everywhere on the web-I just visited two sites I have never heard of and who was there before me-YOU-Ha Ha-you social butterfly-I am still tired from last week.

    1. I am doing better Esme, I took a lot of naps this week. I have to be energized – I have a long day tomorrow and a drive to Minneapolis and another road trip on Tuesday followed by book club.

  2. I AM NUMBER FOUR looks so good! I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ve requested it through an ARC tour.

I also got BEFORE I FALL, but it was from my book fairy. :”)

    1. Emily – I like the sounds of I Am Number Four too – I hope it is a good one.

Before I Fall I actually purchased this week after Reagan said it made her cry it was so good. 😀

  3. I absolutely loved The Kite Runner. It sounds like you have a delightful and busy time at BEA. The Bride COllector was good, but definitely not his best work. Happy reading this week.

  4. I’m reading Belong to Me by Marisa de los Santos and I am amazed at how good it is! It seems like it has been sitting on my TBR pile forever, so I am so glad I picked it up today!

    1. Hi Cat – if you click on the link for Kite Runner it will take you to my review and spoiler page on the book. I was pretty passionate about the book!

  5. Your week looks fantastic and I’ve been terrible about getting to sites this last week. So, I am so glad you did the recap, I’m definitely going to check out your reviews & interviews! Can’t wait!

    Enjoy your reading this week!

    1. I think you will like them FirstDaughter, I tried to capture what the event was like.

I am still trying to get around to blog visits too. Life is busy busy busy 🙂

  6. I’ve enjoyed seeing your BEA experiences. So glad you shared them. :o)
I was interested in your review of The Last Christian. I have been seeing that around a bit.
I’ll want to read your review of The Bone Collector but that might wait till I read/listen to the audio book.
I’ve seen good things about Before I Fall. I hope you enjoy that and your other reading this week.

  7. Your past week was filled with such madness and fun!!! Hope this week is a bit slower paced for you but still filled with wonderful bookish things!

  8. Happy Monday and Happy Anniversary Week! I’m reading The Wednesday Letters by Jason Wright. Have you read it? It’s been in my TBR pile for almost one year, I’m ashamed to admit. So far, it’s very good.

  9. Sounds like you are going to have a busy week Sheila:) Sorry I have not been commenting as much. Work has been really busy.

I will be really interested to hear your thoughts on Before I Fall. It made my worst list. I just really hated the book. Enjoy your reading week!

    1. Bobbie, I hear you – its been busy here too and I get a bit overwhelmed thinking of all I need to get done.

Wow about your thoughts on Before I Fall! I will read it and then check out your review! 🙂

  10. Heard so much about Before I Fall! Can’t wait to see your thoughts! You do have an amazing week looking ahead! 🙂 Have a good week!!

  11. I really hope you enjoy Before I fall – I loved it when I read it back in February. I am Number Four looks really good as well! I’ll have to keep an eye out for that as it sounds like something I’d really like.
    Have a good week!

  12. Dreaming of Dior looks fabulous! If only I could get through that old box of romances that I found in the basement, I could start on some of my newer reads!

    1. Andrea I think the book looks wonderful. At Simon and Schuster they were telling us about the book and that the dresses were actually the authors grandmothers. How amazing!

  13. I guess I am going to have to give The Kite Runner another chance. Maybe I’ll do the audio this time around. Enjoy Before I Fall.

  14. Call me crazy… Before I Fall: I knew this book was the retelling of one day seven times but it gets old… I would suggest reading one day, maybe two and moving to another book. Then come back and finish it.

I can’t critize the book – I knew what to expect and it’s getting great reviews. Wasn’t a favorite for me though…

Have a great week – I hope you find some time to relax 🙂

  15. I have Before I Fall on my pile of library books – now to just make time to read it. Your other books look great too. It feels good to be back and joining in this meme again!

  16. Darn, my Monday post is ready to go, but Blogger is unavailable so I can’t publish it. Maybe later?

Have a great day with your son, Sheila. You do such a good job of balancing your life – exercising, spending time with your family, working, reading, blogging. You’re my hero 🙂

  17. Reading “Loving Frank,” about Frank Lloyd Wright, one of my favorite architects. I have visited many of his homes in the midwest. He designed several in Oak Park (Chicago) and his studio was there. A very interesting man, though this is a work of fiction, based on his life. I have read a lot of non-fiction about him, and thought this would give me a fun perspective.

  18. Reading “Shadow’s Edge”, by fantasy author Brent Weeks, which is the 2nd of 3 books in a series called The Night Angel Trilogy. The first book (The Way of Shadows) was good, if clichéd. I am quite disappointed by Shadow’s Edge so far (predictable, easy-route writing…bleh), but I’m going to stick it out for a while, based on the universally good feedback I’ve heard/read on the series. The odds that everyone else is wrong are pretty slim. I’ll keep pluggin’ along…

  19. Before I Fall was AWESOME! I read it last week and loved it! Looks like you’ll be having a lot of books to choose from though and I’m sure they’re all great!

  20. Hi! Loved the Kite Runner myself, it was excellent and even made me cry.

I am sorry not to be participating in today’s What am I reading, but I got this really nasty email re my review of Columbine today and it’s thrown me off. I’ll be back next week to play.

  21. am still tired and have an awful cold — I put that on BEA! But had lots of fun with all the bloggers.
I have see BEFORE I FALL everywhere as well. I must put in on my TBR stack.

    1. Oh it took me forever to catch up on sleep Barbara – but I didnt go to New York to sleep 🙂

Thanks for popping in Barbara, I had so much fun meeting you!

  22. Hi Sheila !
‘Dreaming Of Dior’ looks really good and I wish you the very best that life can give you , especially on the 9th of June. I’m been reading so many books after my exams got over that my eyes have swollen up ! BUT I’M LOVING IT…….and whats better……THE RAINS FINALLY CAME THREE DAYS AGO !!!!!!! Thank heavens, I do not think I could have been able to stand the heat much longer.

I have just finished reading some of Washington Irvings short stories ( like for about the hundereth time since 5th grade) and like you, got a lot of books lined up for me.Tonight, I’m going to settle down with a poetry book…Lewis Carroll’s poems – LOVE THEM !

    Do you like poetry ?

  23. Awesome. I won? Will email shortly.

The thing about serious book blogging I’m discovering is trying to strike a balance between reading and blogging about reading. *sigh*. Because i spent so much time either working on posts or visiting other blogs this week I ended up staying up ALL night to finish an overdue library book and watch an overdue DVD that HAD to be in the drop box before 11AM.

So I won’t get to start my visiting until late this evening after dinner and dishes.

    read with joy all

    1. Yes – you won Joy! YAY!!!

You are right – I spent the first few months in awe of all the book blogs out there and read more blogs than books 🙂

It is hard to find a happy medium. I do love to chat with all of you 🙂

  24. I’m in between books… Tonight I’ll be starting ‘Hunted by the Others’ by Jess Haines. I’ve just reviewed ‘Newes from the Dead’ by Mary Hooper.

I Am Number Four looks intreaging, I’d be interested to hear what you think of that one.

Right then, I’m off to see what everyone else has been reading. Take care 🙂

  25. Okay, well, I made it to everyone I think, but for some reason 2 out of them wouldn’t let me comment. Some kind of problem, just sent them an email instead. So, a total of 80! Whew!

Have a fabulous week Shelia, I’m sure I’ll see you around the blogosphere! 🙂

  26. Wow! You always have a great selection of books for the week. I am only working on 1 review at the moment – The Warded Man, reading 1 book for me – Wild Hunt, and 1 for the book discussion on Tuesdays (which I need to get to for tomorrow) – Wolf Hall. Hope you have a great week!

  27. I am jealous of your tea with Adriana Trigiani!

I read The Last Christian also and agree about some of the sci-fi being a bit much for me, but I did like the book over all. I have read Before I Fall and liked it alot – can’t wait to see what you think of it.

  28. I truly loved “The Kite Runner”! And I enjoyed reading your tale of “Tea WIth Adriana Trigiani” – what fun!

I really have to do better at keeping track of how many “What are you Reading” links that I visit, but I guess I’m at about 20 and will be coming back through the week to visit more! I MUST go to bed … as I listen to “Innocent” by Scott Turow, which is really good and keeps me wanting to stay awake!

    Julie @ Knitting and Sundries

  29. You’ve got some good reads lined up for this week. I still wish I could read as fast as some of you all! And your blogoversary is Wednesday…yay for you! I will definitely stop by. 🙂

I commented on 11 other blogs (including yours)!

  30. I wouldn’t mind reading Before I Fall and I Am Number Four. The covers alone are inviting, just asking you to open them and dive in.

BTW: This is my first It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?. I’ve been around to 8 new blogs already!

    Thanks 🙂

  31. I’m a little late this week, Sheila, but with good reason.

I’ve been away for a few days, so I’m behind on your posts but am looking forward to your upcoming reviews.

    Sue
