Morning Meanderings…

Que the Rocky Theme.  Can you hear it?  If not, mosey on down to the bottom of this post and hit play on the video so you can have the music to go along with the theme of this post.

I’ll wait…………………………………………………………………………..

Picture it… I have been working hard  to get caught up on the reviews for the books that I have finished and wait for me in a pile.  I read and read and add them to a pile.  “Review me!  Review me!” their little voices cry, but I have procrastinated and busied myself with other things…. and the pile grew and grew….

And now…  I am Review Conqueror Girl (picture blue tights, a red cape, and a large coffee cup).  I am able to review tall piles of books in a single swipe of my keyboard!   Ok…. maybe not a single swipe of the keyboard, but you get the picture.  I am moving forward.

Today I will be posting my review of The Opposite of Me as well as my wonderful meeting with author Sarah Pekkanen.  I will also be posting my review for The Girls From Ames by Jeffrey Zaslow.

Have an awesome and productive day – I hit the gym tread mill this morning and this afternoon I am rollerblading with my friend Wendy!

  1. I’m laughing here as I picture you in the cape and tights…better you than me, though!

I don’t know how you do that…review books after they’ve been in a pile for awhile. I have to review them right afterwards, or I might forget what I was going to write! Maybe you take good notes…

Anyway, have fun rollerblading or whatever!

    1. Laurel I usually do that – what I do is I save a draft post when I start the book and as I go I put things in the draft like:
page numbers of things I found interesting.
      quotes
thoughts I am having as I read

and I also use post it notes in my books to jot things down when I am unable to put stuff in the draft. I need to capture my feelings at the moment. I think that makes a more powerful review.

When I write the review – I use that same draft post that has been storing all my thoughts and then I put them in review formation. Some things may no longer be relevant – or maybe even more so as I finish the book.

As I am typing this I am thinking… hmmmm… this is a pondering moment discussion for sure 🙂

  2. I try my best to review my books as soon as I finish them or I never get them done. However I feel you. I do music reviews for indie bands for a website and I’m backed up right now. Its just been too hot to sit around and analyze music. I hae one review of a jazz/pop CD that I loved but the words just aren’t coming and there’s been so much crazy stuff on the home front that I haven’t had the time to write.

    1. Andrea I am hoping life will slow down a bit now. There are actually a couple events coming up that I am going to say no to, because I have succeeded once again to overbook myself. Part of my big desire to go to BEA is that I want to write and I was hoping by being among book lovers and publishers and authors the writers block I have carried with me for so long would break free.

Honestly – I think it has. I had an idea while I was there and now I just need to form that into ….. something 🙂 Another reason why I need to take time to do just that!

  3. Well aren’t you just making the rest of us feel unproductive! 🙂 Congrats on making some headway with the review pile. Why don’t you rollerblade on over to Chicago and I’ll meet you? It shouldn’t take you too long to get here…..

    1. LOL Trisha – ahhhh, I needed to get motivated. I am going to get caught up Trisha!

AND – I would love to rollerblade to Chicago, when do you want to connect – maybe give me a week or ten to get there? We could go out for coffee…. and then maybe take me to the emergency room…. ha ha 😀

  4. Go get em Girl Conquerer.-If I did not receive enough books from BEA-I won one yesterday. Just what I need more books in the house.

    1. I have more to do Reagan but I will work on it again tonight and tomorrow I have off work so then as well. I want to be 100% caught up by Monday.

  5. Have missed getting my internet time. None of our hotels have had free internet and their public computers have 15 minute sessions, then just shut off. You are certainly reading and reviewing more than I could – with or without the blue tights and Rocky theme.
