Morning Meanderings

Mornin’…..

Yup – off and running again today so couldn’t even finish the word morning!  😀  I have a group of friends that I used to work with “back in the day” when I worked for Wal-Mart.  I left that job in the fall of 2005 when our business was really taking off, but still hung on to this group of close friends I had made during my 14 (yes that’s right) 14 years there.

We try to get together once a month and we are each responsible for different months.  It can be what ever the person chosing wants to do and we have done small things like:

  • getting together for lunch
  • dinner and a movie
  • out dancing
  • campfires
  • board game night
  • spa events
  • shopping

To larger events:

  • murder mystery parties
  • exploring Minnesota
  • weekend cabin retreats
  • festivals
  • cooking and self-defense classes
  • Wisconsin Dells weekend

Etc…

Today we are meeting at my house at 7 am and road tripping.  I think we are going to Cambridge for the day for hanging out, some shopping, for sure some eating, and who knows.   As tired as I am of running – it is always a good time to get together with the girls.

On a bookish note – if any of you are going to BEA and want to connect that would be sooooo cool!  Email me at journeythroughbooks@gmail.com and let me know!  😀

  1. I also worked for Wal-Mart In Oxford, NC for eleven years before retiring. I worked in the pharmacy as a pharmacy tech until 2008 and have kept in touch with a group of close friends I had made working there. We go out for dinner occasionally and used to play softball together on day trips to Kerr Lake In Henderson, NC for a cookout. I enjoy getting together with the girls. Small world, isn’t it. Have a great weekend together, Sheila.
    God Bless!

    1. Wow it is a small world Rebecca! I managed Housewares and promotions. We had (have) a great store here in Brainerd and I loved working there 🙂

  2. Sound like a great day. Nothing much better than having a fun day with friends. Enjoy BEA. Sounds like fun.

  3. How wonderful that you’ve been able to maintain these friendships! Usually, once a person leaves a job, the friendships gradually fade away. Have fun!

  4. That sounds like so much fun! I always have a tough time getting my friends together. We’re kind of strung out all over the place.

Oooh, a murder mystery party. I’ve always wanted to go to one..

  5. Oh that sounded like fun! I am sure you thoroughly enjoyed yourself:) I love getting girlfriends together and hang out. I think some of the best times I had was in school in Texas. We used to have Wine and Cheese parties. I felt so grown up, lol! Of course now I know that was a far cry from being a grown up but we had so much fun. Now I hang out and talk about books.
