Morning Meanderings…

Morning!  😀  Holy smokes was yesterday a long and tiring day.  I had such a  blast at the conference and we had an opportunity to hear John Ortberg talk AND I picked up his new book – the me the way I want to be.  That was exciting.  I have all of his previous books and really enjoy his writing.  Oh – and I did I mention I got it signed?  😀  The conference had an awesome band and when they played this song to show how they do visual effects I actually teared up.  I am sure my little flip video version could not possibly do it justice but I had to try to capture this:

While the conference was fun – I was so tired by the time we rolled back into town.  It wasnt even that late as I whipped into my yard around 7:35 pm, tossed my bags on the counter and flew downstairs to watch the last part of Survivor with Al.  Normally I wouldn’t walk in on a show almost done.  We have TiVo so I would just watch it in its entirety after Al goes to bed – BUT… this is Survivor and I so want to be present when Russell is voted off.  The man drives me nuts.  What is funny (or maybe not…) is that Al thinks his strategy is brilliant.  This has caused many a marital spat at our house in our difference of opinion on Russell.  GAH!  Did I mention the man drives me nuts?  (Russell – not Al…LOL)

Anyway – I fell asleep before the show was over so will have to watch it  tonight…  I was exhausted and went to bed the same time as my hubby for a change, at 8:30 pm.

Today I am optimistic that for the first day in over a week it will not rain and my son and I are going to attempt to rollerblade to Nisswa and back today – 32 miles.  We are going to do lunch there and then browse the local book store.  I have not been on my bike or rollerblades all week due to the weather.

I have a review for House Rules by Jodi Piccoult coming up later today so please stop in for that one…. I think I am going to have to include the spoiler button in that one because I feel a rant coming on…  🙂

  1. Glad you had a good time yesterday. Can’t wait for your House Rules review!! Hope you do get nice weather today and can get outside.

  2. Glad you had a good time. Looking forward to reading your review of House Rules by j.P. Glad you’re using spoiler button.

  3. Rollerblade for 32 miles? I’m not coordinated enough to rollerblade at all. I think my daughter still has a pair, but I’m sure no one in the family will let me near them. I’ll have to check. I used to love to skate, but that was decades (ouch) ago.
Glad your trip was a good one. Did yu get to listen to your book on the drive?

      1. Oops Pat didnt answer your question. I did not listen to the book as I did not drive my friend key did. Although – the 10 minutes to her house and back I did. 🙂

I am still listening to Kite Runner in my car and it is heart breaking!

  4. A rant, huh? Can’t wait 🙂

I read your meanderings not only for the book stuff, but the exercise motivation. Girl, you rock!

    Off to the gym…

  5. We also watch Survivor and I have been waiting for Russell to get booted! I hate that guy! lol…my husband thinks like yours though…that he plays the game good. Whatever, is all I have to say! I haven’t watched last night’s episode but hopefully I will be able to tonight. Sounds like you had a great time at the conference!

  6. You are certainly ambitious, Sheila! It’s great, though. I feel good that I’ve had two workouts at the gym so far this week…I know, not so fabulous, but from nothing (for a few weeks) to two (and today will be three), I’m feeling better.

    But sore…

I’ll watch for your House Rules review. Curious as to your thoughts.

  7. I am siding with your husband! 🙂
Russell is a brillant player, and technically, he should win the million dollars – he has played the best game (and it is a game…); he has my vote.

    1. Rosanne – I know – he is just so evil! LOL. I hate that he thinks he is all that and king of the game…. why they are afraid to vote for him drives me nuts…LOL

  8. I’m anxious to hear the review on Jodi Piccoult’s new book. I haven’t been reading much lately because I’ve been involved in a 10 week Bible study by Beth Moore. It is great, but involves five lessons every week. Only have one left.

    1. LOL Julie H – good rant or bad? 😀 We rode bike instead of blades. Neither of us had gone that far on blades before and Justin was quick to point out that if we stopped at the book store how would we get the books back. My bike has a bike rack with bungee cords so we took the bikes. 🙂

      1. I’m kind of glad to hear you rode bikes! That would be quite a roller blading event, especially if you bought stuff!
Those “twists” she’s so famous for are what make me crazy. I’ve had to take a break, the last one I read was Nineteen Minutes. Sounds like House Rules was well done, at least until the end!

  9. Good to hear you had a great time at the conference, but I’m not at all surprised you went to sleep at 8.30! Almost weekend, hopefully you can sleep in tomorrow!

    1. leeswammes – no go. My girlfriends are coming over at 7 am and we are road tripping. We take turns planning events once a month – it can be anything from coffee, a bike ride, lunch, dinner, movie, dancing, whatever. This month we are road tripping so I will be gone all day. 🙂

    1. Mari – I agree with you on Russell – he makes my skin crawl. The ones that are left are not thrilling. I liked Colby the first season he was on but now he just gives me the impression that he is unhealthy – a week link. Paverti drives me nuts, but sadly is probably the better of who is left. I dont really mind Sandra but am surprised she is still there. Jerri is not really someone who did anything but hide under Russell’s wing so really – I am uncertain. 🙂

      How about you?

  10. Again, I bow to you my friend. Your posts make me tired, lol. But you are definitely encouraging me to be more active. My mom and I are going to start walking in the morning. I live right on the Chesapeake Bay so we have a huge promenade that goes around the bay. We are going to start walking that in the morning:) I am looking forward to it:)

    1. Bobbie that is such a great idea – what a beautiful are you live in! Driving home today I was thinking about where I live and was actually pretty thankful for it.

Yeah I gripe about the weather at times but on days like today that are so sunny and gorgeous I have to smile. I live in a gorgeous area, close to pretty much everything – I cant complain 🙂
