Morning Meanderings…

Hey all – good morning!  😀

Thank you to everyone who left me well wishes and great comments on yesterdays meandering.  I had one of those rare days that kept me so busy I did not make it back on-line until 9:30 pm last night after I had cleaned up my house from a very awesome book club meeting.  Logging on and seeing so many comments really made me smile.  Thank you for that.

I stayed up way too late last night trying to design a new business card for myself and this bloggy thing I do here.  I am still not sure if I love it – love it, but I got it done at around 1 am so we shall see.  Here is what I came up with:

Front Side

I like the creamy orange color and think it will stand out a bit.  I also was trying to stay with recognition and connection to this blog and this is the new coffee cup logo I have been using and am planning to stick with.

Back Side

I like the chocolaty back of this and like that there is information on both sides of the card – almost making it reversible.  I wanted to use a picture with more books but found my lettering then because lost in the picture.

Well it’s a start.  Now I just cant wait to get them and see them.  I had ones for this blog before that I had made myself and I like that one too, but needed to have the correct name on the ones I am taking to BEA with me.  Thoughts on this?  Advice?  Do you have a card for your blog?

I am really getting behind on reviews with my crazy life style as of late so I am putting up the book club one today and possibly even a second one later today.

Have a great day everyone – I am enjoying Coffee cup #3 this morning and listening to House Rules by Jodi Piccoult while I get ready for work.

  1. I love the cards! The colors are rich, it’s easy to read, it conveys your design (coffee cup, etc). Did you use photoshop? Are you getting them printed online? Details, details!

  2. I love the look of your cards!!! Very classy indeed. It matches your blog perfectly, and very easy to read with just the right amount of information.

I did a one-sided card for my blog.

  3. Fabulous card! I love that it’s informative and eye-catching with the recognizable Coffee Cup!

    BEA! What an exciting adventure.

I’ve never made cards for my blog(s)…see the problem??

Maybe for my website…that one has a page with links to all the blogs.

  4. I need to get cards for my blogs. There have been times they would have come in handy. Great idea, and yours are perfect. The font is so cute. Yes, details please 🙂

    1. Lynne I had made my own about a year ago and place them in books that I give out as prizes (you should have got one in the book you won from me).

They also come in handy if you run into an author or publisher. 🙂

I will put details on tomorrows morning post.

  5. I don’t have a card for my blog, but then again–I am way too new at this whole book blogging thing. I like the card you designed!

  6. I love your business card for your Blog. I do not have one as I just blog for the fun of it, anyway I would have no idea where to start to design a card.

    1. LindyLOuMac, I just read other blogs and get ideas and suggestions. I have been reading a lot about blog identity and matching so I was just putzing around with this. 🙂

  7. I do like both sides of your card; its interchangeable front/back with such different designs makes it enticing…great ideas and work!

  8. Like the card. The front side is perfect. Me personally, I’d have less on the back side, but that is conservative me. Both sides look great, get attention. and give the information necessary without verbiage.
Have a great time at BEA.

  9. I have cards for my blog. It’s the picture on my header and blog button. I had 250 made and really love them.

I’m way behind on my reviews again. I used to get really stressed out when I got behind. But I’ve realized that life happens whether you have books to read or reviews to post, and that’s just the way it will always be, so I’ve decided to deal with it. I’ll get them posted when I can.

    1. amymckie, me too – so procrastinated on this one. Now I will be nervous until they arrive as if they are crappy, it will be too late to make new ones. 😀

      1. I hope your experience with this company is better than mine. Ordered with them after reading this post and they delayed the shipping for 4 days (I paid for overnight, shipped to my hotel so it couldn’t , wouldn’t be an issue if I was going to be in the US for longer than a few more days, sigh). Also, their customer service was horrible 😦 Not to make you worried or anything, but I’d track it carefully so you can catch any delays quickly!

      2. Phew, a more positive update, someone else called back and apologized and they are sending the cards to another blogger in the US who will take them to BEA for me. So not ideal, but they at least made an effort!

      3. Oh my gosh Amymckie – same company I used? Now I am nervous!!! I didn’t pay for fast shipping – they say mine will be here by the 20th at the latest. I hope that is true.

      4. Yep, same company. The issue was the fast shipping I think. They said they accidentally printed labels instead 😛 For yours they have a few days so they should get it right!

      5. Oh I hope so Amy….. 🙂 For both of us I hope they are beautiful cards. So you are going to BEA? (Look at me Queen of changing subjects – LOL)

      6. I hope they turn out beautiful for both of us too 🙂 I just used one of their templates.

And YES! I am going to BEA and BBC – so excited! Email me at amy.mckie [at] gmail.com if you want to meet up!

  10. Love the cards! I just won some so did a quick and super simple design but never really looked at in real size. Got 500 cards with my name, blog name and email so tiny that anyone over 40 will need readers for. So disappointing. And stupid on my part!

      1. It’s a great idea, i was actually thinking to do the same a while back.

and Lisa’s right. You got to get them to show you a sample of how they would look in real size and another tip is to make sure the font you use is bold enough and a color that will stand out from the whole design. Just tips from my past experiences :)))

  11. Gorgeous design! I really like that you have designs on both sides. I ordered one-sided cards and am happy with them, but now I sorta wish I had something on the back! Got mine from Vistaprint and they turned out really nice. I was afraid they would be too thin and cheap looking, but they look like real business cards!

Think it would be fun to collect everyone’s business cards at BEA! We could trade them like baseball cards or something. *L*

    1. I am still nervous about the cards Alexia – I am hoping it is a good company and they look nice. It would be fun to get everyones cards too – great idea 🙂

  12. LOVE the cards! I had some printed up last year in anticipation of the Southern Festival of Books here in Nashville…and then, didn’t get to go! But I do have them when I need them. I need to post a pic of mine on my blog…never thought of that!

  13. I loved the design and color in your cards.. my only thought was maybe your blog URL should have been high-lighted more – or was that intended ?
