Morning Meanderings….

The readathon is over!  Thank you blog subscribers who put up with the overload of posts yesterday in their email box.  I have a plan on how to do that better for the Fall 2010 Readathon that will not create all those posts.  My visits to participants yesterday gave me great ideas on how to do this.

So how did I do?

Well, I started yesterday at 5 am CST, two hours too early – but for some reason I had it in my head that was when it started.  I was up, with a lot of coffee and managed to complete 3 books throughout the day and start on a 4th.  I managed to stay up until 11:20 PM, crashed until midnight when I woke up to close out my mini challenge, crashed again until 4:40 am, and then read until 5:30 am to close out my 24 hours.  I actually participated 19 of the hours between reading, mini challenges and cheering.

How do I feel?

Like a scruffy guy who hasn’t shaved in a month.  And yes, I realize I am a woman…. but I seriously feel as though I have grown facial hair overnight….  LOL

Changes to my next Readathon participation?

I do wish I had spent more time reading, but I did really enjoy the cheering too.  I think I need to just pick a better ratio and stick to it.  I seen a few pretty cool ways that people posted their updates all in one NEAT post.  Trust me, I am sooooo doing that next time.  I loved doing a mini challenge as it was so fun to see all the bloggers I have never met stop by.  I am hoping later tonight when life settles down to visit their blogs.

Plan for today?

Well, I am thankful that I did sleep because my day is a fun and full one.  I am going biking with my friend Amy and I hope we do the 18 mile round trip to Merrifield and back.  She and I are in a bike tour in a couple of weeks – her first one and our goal is 65 miles.   Then, my College Son Justin and I are going to Rollerblade in the afternoon and he will probably push me to do at least 14 miles.  Of well, it is good training for me 🙂

We may go to a movie later afternoon, depending on how long we blade, then I will plan supper and tonight Amazing Race!!!  (Which I love!)

I missed out on the “What’s In My Mailbox” post I usually do on Saturday evenings, but think I will add it to my “It’s Monday!  What are you reading?” post that goes live tonight.  This Mondays participants should have interesting posts with all the reading that went on during the readathon.  It would be fun to know a total of books read during the event.

Any way – I need to get moving!  10:07 am and still am in my pj’s! 😀

  1. Way to go Shelia! Your two challenges were great. I did the Once Upon a Time One and forgot to post it! DUH, I was getting tired and crashed at 2am.

  2. Great accomplishments! I think my favorite part was when you showed us pictures of where you’d be reading, and the things on your table to assist you. Way cool.

I didn’t sign up, or anything, but I basically did it. I just did the one post and then wrapped up in my Sunday Salon.

I can tell I missed out on sleep…I’m having to correct typos all over the place!

I just now completed all my reviews, which I’ll link to in tomorrow’s post.

  3. I’m glad you had a fun readathon. I hope to do a minichallenge next time – this year I didn’t plan well. Take it easy today. CHEERS!

  4. Just reading about your plans for the day makes me tired. I am 69 and have COPD, but still . . . How do you do it? Actually you do inspire me to try to get more out of liffe, and I did do a little yard work today. The fresh air felt so good. Congratulations on your read-a-thon success.

    1. Barbara that is exactly what it is. I like to get as much out of life as possible. Sometimes I dont feel like doing it but when I do I feel so much better and usually meet some pretty cool people too 🙂

Thanks for stopping in Barb and I hope you enjoy the day!

  5. Glad you enjoyed the mini-readathon. Hope you don’t overdo today.
Another Amazing Race fan! Love that show. How I wish we could participate. Asked my kids when they did the family race. I thought we had a pretty good team. My daughter said she didn’t want everyone to see how dysfunctional we were. After watching the show, we aren’t dysfunctional at all. We are on the good side of normal.

Enjoy your day with friends and family. You certainly earned it.

    1. Thank you Pat. It was a lovely day here and getting out of the house was exactly what I needed!

AL and I joke all time about going on the amazing race. I imagine we would argue so much we would have to move when we came back home…LOL – He is so laid back and I would be like “COME ON – LETS GO!!!” 🙂

  6. I think you did great but I do like the idea of getting updates into one post. I haven’t really done updates the two times I’ve done the readathon because I didn’t want to scare off my none bloggers!

  7. Yes, I think I will just do one post too instead of a bunch of little ones. I would like to do more reading too. Next time I will send the kids someplace for the day and night!

    1. I seen a good one Cheryl where they just kept updating the same post like a diary entry, every couple hours…. what they were reading, what page they were on… if they ate anything…. and if they did a mini challenge that was there too. I liked that.
