Morning Meanderings…

Riddle me this… why is that when I go to buy my dogs these little dog foods I find myself studying the flavors as though I was going to eat it myself?

Seriously, I am in that dog food aisle for about ten minutes trying to choose if I want to get the smoked bacon and egg, grilled steak and ham, salmon, or the chicken and liver.   When the trance lifts, I almost always have more of the salmon in my cart because that just sounds good.

Sounds good?

My dogs have never showed a preference.   They happily accept whatever I serve and yet even picking it out of the cupboard I am doing it again…. “Let’s see… last night they had chicken….

OK then…. 😉

Today I have a workout schedule in mind and hopefully get all my planning set for next weekend when I go to Pensacola Florida to see Navy son.  I have my flight taken care of but have been so busy I have not booked the hotel yet.  Yipes!  I will bet here Thursday – Sun… hoping to get in some great weather and wonderful times with both of my sons!  (Yes!  College son will be flying with me to hang out with his brother!)

Now I did promise to have the video up for my “Payback” that I gave to Brett for “foiling” my office last week for April Fools Day.  Here is that payback:

**For some reason I can not get the video to work… will try another day 🙂

I hope many of you are going to bed early tonight and joining me and many other bloggers tomorrow for the Readathon.  🙂

  1. Good luck to all who will take part in the Readathon. Also, I want to give a peppy feeling to the cheerleaders. Rah, rah, rah!

You have to read about the pet food. Our pets are part of the family.

  2. Good morning! What a cute story about your doggie shopping! I can see it all now…

Good luck on the Read-a-Thon…I should participate…I’m still considering it. I guess the thing to do is click on one of those links and read up on it!

    1. Gram it took me a few minutes to realize what you were talking about – my video did not work! Thanks for pointing that out to me….. I may have never noticed it on my own as crazy as life is right now. 🙂

I will try posting it another day 🙂

  3. Good luck tomorrow on the read-a-thon! I know it will be tons of fun 🙂

I do the same with my dogs when they really would just be like “Look, I appreciate the effort but if it isn’t a T-Bone it could be anything else really”. (Yes, I think I know what my dogs aka the furry humans think)!

  4. It’s funny that you wrote about spending time on deciding what flavor to buy for your dogs because I was just thinking that about my cats. However, they actually do have a preference and if I buy something they don’t like, I might just throw it out because they won’t touch it.

    1. That is funny Lilly! The dogs eat dry dog food mostly but during supper for some reason since Al and I are having dinner, I have started buying them these little “dinners” too…..

And now they really know when it is time to because they wait in the kitchen by the cupboard I keep the food in. 🙂

  5. I buy a big bag of dry food for my dog (who turns 2 today!) and every three trips I end up buying a different flavor to “switch it up” for her. I’ve noticed that whenever she gets a new flavor, she seems more interested in her food and eats more of it for a few days. I think they can tell when it’s different!

    Good luck with the readathon!

    1. Thats a good idea Amy. All I look for in the dry dog food is I have heard it should have at least 26% protein otherwise it is just filler. So much like when I buy myself new foods, I am checking the “whats in it” section on the package..

      Thanks for the readathon wishes!

      1. I always check the nutrition facts, too. My dog actually eats better than I do; I buy her Eagle Pack dog food: http://www.eaglepack.com/. Not only does she love it, but her coat is ridiculously shiny. It even helped with her late-summer skin allergies. It’s expensive, but I feel better giving her that when I know it’s healthy for her.

  6. Have fun in the Readathon-I will be lucky to have the energy to read the morning newspaper. I have been out every day with the visitors and have more visitors coming this weekend.

    1. Thats right Esme but you are having fun too I bet! I get a weekend like that in July when my girlfriends and I spend a weekend at the cabin. GOOD TIMES! 😀

  7. The pet industry is huge now! Because we DO see our pets as part of our family.

For people with two or more dogs, if one of your dogs scrambles to a dropped piece of fruit (or whatever) first, do you feel bad for the other one and give him/her a piece too? I do!! And I laugh at myself when I do it.

    1. I do that Lynne! If I give something to one, the other must have it too. Al likes to feed them scraps and I will tell him that he cant give to one without the other. Its just not right… 🙂

      1. I have my husband trained now too. He knows the rules 🙂 I gave him the guilt trip about it once and that was all it took.

  8. My mom does the same with canned cat food…go figure!

I’m all ready to go for the read-a-thon! I’m going to try to be in bed by 12:00am…try being the key word! I plan on starting at 7am CT. I’ve got you on my list of participants that I follow and interact with frequently so I’ll be stopping by to say hi periodically. Let the reading begin!

    1. Oh yay Michelle 🙂 I am really excited for it. Now if I can just get my family to leave me alone for the day – LOL

I will be talking to them at dinner tonight…. they will probably think I am insane…. 🙂

  9. I was wondering where the cup of coffee was this morning! I was thinking you were having a strange breakfast!

My mom does the same thing with her dog and those little dinners. One of our dogs has a food allergy so dog food here is boring. Same old thing twice a day! They are so deprived! If it weren’t for that I would be doing the same thing.

I am doing the Readathon tomorrow and am looking forward to it. Good luck to you!

  10. I started buying my dog that brand when I noticed her gaining weight, because the are smaller. I always get one of each so I don’t give her two of the same in a row, not that she would notice or care.

Hope we have great weather for you visit, it’s beautiful here today, and was yesterday too until late last night when we got some rain. Luckily it was after midnight and didn’t ruin the great day.

  11. Your post made me laugh. My dogs are definitely not choosy , they will eat anything I put in front of them and they eat like I starve them to death!! LOL!
Good luck with the read a thon. I don’t think I’ll be doing it since this weekend is supposed to be half way decent.
I’ll be rooting for you tho!
    Natalie :0)

  12. I should introduce your dogs to my cat. She is very picky and will only eat certain flavors. I have a funny feeling if we took her grocery shopping with us she’d be hours in the cat food aisle, checking out all the labels!

  13. I do that too! Study the flavors, trying to pick out the best ones for my animals. And I like to make sure I get a variety so they don’t get too bored (although I think that’s more my issue than theirs). While the cats do show a preference now and then, they aren’t terribly picky. And my dog will eat anything and everything.

I hope you have a nice time visiting with your sons next weekend. And good luck with the read-a-thon tomorrow!

  14. Enjoy your sons in Florida.

It is funny how we worry so much about our pets’ food. As you said, they really don’t care as long as it is food. Having said that, we have had some picky eaters. It has been more the brand rather than the flavors. Our cats had been eating the Sams brand of dry cat food. We bought a bag of Meow Mix once just for a change. When we went back to the other, they wouldn’t touch it. After 4 or 5 days, we gave up and it has been Meow Mix ever since. Luckily my daughter’s cats aren’t so picky. They’ll eat whatever you put out for them.
