Morning Meanderings…

Happy April 1st!  😀  I had high hopes to be much more organized before today but I have to admit I am not….  I have a challenge in my head for April – but have not taken the time to put it to laptop yet.  I will be working on that today because I am pretty excited about it.

Yesterday evening I biked 10 miles with my friend Jennifer…. (thank you Jennifer!) bringing me to 28 miles for the two days.  I hope to go out again later today, but am watching the weather as there is a chance for rain today.  If all works well, weather wise too – I would like to do the Merrifield run again.

In Bookish News…. while blog hopping yesterday, I read over at Luxury Reading about the newest to the Twilight books….  The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner.  Has everyone else heard about this?  It was news to me!  Here is what Amazon has to say about the book:

Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.

I have to admit… I don’t remember Bree.  It’s bugging me now.  For those of you who have read the Twilight Series, do you remember Bree?  Anyway – I think the idea is brilliant!  Stephanie Meyer should capture the Twilight fans with this one.  I think it will be interesting to see how the book will do.  Any predictions?

Thank you everyone who visited and chatted with me in March.  I will have a recap post of the month up soon with my top commenter winner as well as my Random winners.  I appreciate you all so much!  Have a BEAUTIFUL Day!

  1. I’ve heard of the new Meyer book, but I don’t plan to read it, since I haven’t even read any of the other Twilight books … Looking forward to hearing about this challenge you have planned!

  2. Okay, I guess it’s not an April Fool’s joke, since there’s a book cover and all…LOL.

Seriously, though, that is an intriguing idea, spinning off another book (and possible series) from a minor character in a previous book.

Now, don’t get me wrong…I’m not a fan of the Twilight series, but I still can recognize a good idea! LOL

    1. I really did laugh out loud at your comment here Laurel – no joke, there is a new book!

I never thought I would be into the Twilight books myself but read the first one and kept on going. I did enjoy them.

  3. I definitely don’t plan to read the new Twilight book. After a second read of them, I realized her writing’s horrible and I couldn’t stand to read more!!

Bree is one of the young vampires that Victoria creates in Eclipse. I think she’s the one who gives the Cullens all the information they need to know after the fight. She ends up getting ripped apart, anyway, though.

    1. MIchelle – LOL – I haven’t read them a second time….

Thanks for letting me know who Bree is. This book must be going from her perspective then… interesting. I will probably read it out of curiosity. 🙂

  4. I’m on the fence about whether or not I’m going to read any more of Meyer’s books – I’m with Michelle, I think her story was more engaging than her writing abilities.

That’s great that you’re getting outside for runs/bike rides. You should check out my latest post on newbie running, although you’re most likely well beyond that I think you’d enjoy it.

    Enjoy your day! 🙂

    1. I am surprised Bluestocking how many people are probably going to pass on it. I think Sami words this well (comment above) when she says that the story is more engaging than the writing. I am always a sucker for a unique story line and I will probably read this one out of curiosity to see where she goes with it. I am curious if this will be one book or a series stemmed off of Twilight…. 🙂

    1. I really am curious Zia, and I wonder if Stephanie can make lightning strike twice or if this book will not do as well as there are so many vampire series out there and the whole Twilight Series is not so exciting anymore.

(Wow is that a run on sentence!) 🙂

  5. It was Ceaser Chavez day yesterday meaning the courts were closed. But cold and miserable-as cold and miserable S. Cal can be-of course it is sunny today. So I did not ride.

But the legs needed I rode about 36 miles on the weekend. plus another 6 to lay out on the beach-I was rather impressed I hopped in the ocean-Yahoo already hit the waves in March. I have tan lines going. Now to get rid of my saddle thighs.

    1. Esme – already in the ocean! Wow! I wouldn’t dare hop in any Minnesota waters right now…LOL….. I did that my senior year with a friend of mine and we both were treated for hypothermia…. not so smart on my part 🙂

  6. I am just now starting ECLIPSE. I don’t like to get ahead of the movie. I may just finish up. I’m curious, will have to make sure our library orders this one. They have no one doing children’s ordering now.
Hope you have a great April.

    1. Pat that is sad to think that no one is doing the Children’s ordering at your library.

I still think the book is going to do ok from the Twilight hype…. I think there are still many fans out there that will bring this one to the charts.

  7. Happy April, Sheila – just saying that makes me smile. It was a long winter! I’m inspired to get my bike tuned up and start going for early morning rides. GFY on the 28 miles. : )

    1. I agree Mary – April is a great word! 🙂

I hope to keep up the biking now and really put in the miles this year. I put in 450 last year and hope to beat that this year. 🙂

  8. I am re-reading the Twilight books because I always do before a new movie comes out but I don’t remember Bree either. However, it is a cool idea to take a character that might not have been very significant and show their POV.

    GRATS on the miles–WTG!
