Morning Meanderings…

Home Show Edition:  Day Two

This morning Coffee Cup and I are actually having Tea.  Why?  I ran out of coffee filters yesterday and keep forgetting to pick them up.  I know, who does that right?  I mean coffee filters come in a bag of 200…. this is like a twice a year purchase at best.  Yet again, I hauled my tired self to the coffee pot to realize that I have yet to remember this important part of the coffee-making process.

Day one of the home show seemed a bit slow to me.  I have yet to compare my last years first day concession sales to this years.  Today should hopefully be busier….it is still a bit cool here in Minnesota  (39 degrees) so people should be coming to the show.  When the weather is too nice, people are in there yards and my sales are not as good.

Before I fly out the door I wanted to ask you if you have heard of the Weekend Cooking meme that BethFish Reads puts on each weekend.  It is a cool idea where you can link up your posts today on cooking themes even books with cooking  titles, movies, gadgets, etc….  go and check this fun meme out today.  I wish I had time to participate.  🙂

Have a super day – I have a fun review coming up in a few hours on the theme of friendships 🙂

  1. Hey Sheila, wish I could hand you a cup of coffee through the computer. I’ve got some going that is quite delicious. Have a good day!

    1. I can Hannah, I make coffee at home before I leave because the Home Show pots are the big ones that take about 45 minutes to brew. That’s what I did this morning though 🙂

  2. Yes, Sheila, I’ve used paper towels! A friend and I were vacationing in Sedona one year, and for some reason, there were no coffee filters in the condo! We used paper towels.

What is that saying? “Necessity is the mother of invention…”

I almost said “desperation,” but at any rate, there’s your back-up plan! Speaking of which, isn’t there a movie coming out soon called that?

I was thinking of you yesterday when I was doing the Friday 56 meme, in which we pick up a book close by and excerpt the fifth sentence on page 56. Well, the book is set in a small village in Minnesota…thought you may have heard of the author, Lorna Landvik.

    Have a great day!

    1. Laurel, a girl at the show today told me that suggestion as well. I hadn’t thought of that 🙂

Oh I have seen Lorna Landvik at a book signing in Little Falls. We had an authors tea with her – it was really fun 🙂

  3. I’ve used paper towels too! When your desperate you’ll use anything. Did you ever watch Mad About You? She rinsed an old one and reused it!!!!!!!! Hahahaha
Have fun at the Home Show, hope its successful for you.
    Natalie :0)

    1. Oh my gosh Natalie that is so funny! I loved Mad About You but must have missed that episode!

I am at the show currently and today is more steady so that is nice. I have good volunteers so that makes it fun too!

    1. Hannah – I see that and that is weird. I was looking to see if you were commenting from somewhere different that makes it look like you are a new commenter but that does not appear to be the case. No idea why they are going to moderation. I have approved them so hopefully that will not happen anymore.

  4. I love Lorna Landvik. I’ve read Oh My Stars! Greatbook.
Patty Jane’s House of Curl, loved it. And something about Mysterious. Great too.

I would love to meet her. What a great thing.

    1. Tea – in Little Falls (about 30 miles from my home) they have authors tea’s with local authors. I havent been to them in the last year and I am not sure if they still do it but suddenly I have an interest in knowing if they do 🙂 This whole Lorna Landvik conversation has me inspired!

  5. I just hate it when little things like that happen, like your coffee filter situation. Sometimes, when I am under a lot of stress, little things like that are able to just infuriate me! 🙂

Do you know Shania Twain’s song “Up”? It’s this kind of thing-

    “Even something as simple as
forgetting to fill up on gas,
    there ain’t no explanation why,
things like that can make you cry,
just gotta learn and have a laugh…”

  6. I am going to resist the temptation, for now. I am a cookbook and recipe addict and don’t need to add to the problem (600 cookbooks and counting). Maybe when I get our house straightened and can start cooking seriously again, I’ll check it out.
