Morning Meanderings….

Happy Wednesday!  This morning I am meeting our new office person in the office to get her started and then off to do my job at the church.

As I sit here drinking in my coffee this morning and trying to think of what is new and exciting over here – I was reminded that I really haven’t talked about the April 10th Readathon.  That’s right, mark your calendars, grab your books, shut off your phones, and lock your doors!

I have experienced the last two readathons and really found them to be fun.  If you have time stop over at the Dewey’s readathon site and nose around.  You will see last falls challenges and get a good taste of what happens during the 24 hours.

Is it all reading?  No- there are Mini Challenges throughout the day.

Whats a Mini Challenges?  It is a small task that you pop over to a designated blog and perform if you want to.

The mini challenges could be a book trivia game, or name that cover, or tasking you to write a post on a book that really meant a lot to you and why, etc…

You choose the ones you wish to do, pass on those you do not.  Every challenge has a winner!  Woo hoo!  Last year I won the new (at the time) Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.

Currently we are looking for challenge hosts.  Stop over to the Dewey’s Readathon and see what we are looking for.  If you have an idea, be sure to fill out the form.

Ok I am off to do what I do!  Have a super great day!  I would love to hear if yo have participated in a readathon before or are planning to do this one.  If so – do you have any books in mind for the event?

  1. Unfortunately, I won’t be participating in this readathon, that’s a first in years for me. But, since I’m moving that weekend, it’s a pretty easy call.

  2. Thanks for telling and reminding us. I’ve been too scarey to try it. You make it sound like so much fun. I might pop over to Dewey.

    1. Good morning Kathy 🙂 I am somehow going to make it work…. I may need to just go disappear for the day. I am even considering heading up to our cabin.

  3. Hmmm….I’ve not participated in a readathon before. I’ll think about it. I do already had a baby shower to attend that day. We’ll see. I do enjoy reading about what others have read and how they are doing. Does that make sense? 🙂

  4. I enjoyed being a cheerleader last time for the read-a-thon but unfortunately this time it is smack in the middle of my kids’ spring break and I won’t have consistent enough computer access to read or cheer. ::sigh:: Maybe this fall!

    1. I have it when life gets in the way….LOL 🙂

I am trying to think how I can have an undisturbed day.. I could go to our cabin but I hate to leave Al and out cabin is 3 1/2 hours away from home.

  5. Oh yeah, the readathon. I completely forgot. Thanks for reminding me. Even though my little one will be 2 and a half months old, I am still hoping to participate, if only a little bit.

  6. I read about the last couple readathons on people’s blogs but didn’t participate. They seem like a lot of fun, I’m just worried that I won’t have a 24 hour chunk of time in between homework and work. But i’ll look into it and hopefully be able to give it a try.

  7. I did my first read-a-thon last fall. I loved it, although I didn’t get much reading done. My kids were disruptive and my husband was no help. I said last time that I was going to get a hotel room the next time and I still might do it! Either that or find a 24 hour Starbucks…LOL! I could go to my mom’s, but I can’t get internet at her house. 😦 We’ll see what happens, but I’m definitely participating. I have a whole slew of books to read. I will have to duck out for a couple of hours though because I can’t miss my monthly book sale! 🙂

  8. Michelle – A hotel room! LOL I laugh but I am relaly thinking, “What a good idea!” 🙂

That’s kind of my dilemma too – I am trying to think where I can go that I can just be left alone to do my thing 🙂

  9. Clear weather, how nice. We have had a lot of rain. Even if it is cooler, sunny skies would be nice.
