Uhhhhh…… yes. My name is Sheila and I have a book addiction.
I mentioned earlier this week that our Library had its spring sale on Thursday. I went. I waited in line. I saw. I purchased.
At 50 cents a book – seriously how can I resist? You as fellow book lovers must understand the draw…. the craving to be with books, to socialize with bookish people who understand when you lay down a bookish quote…

Oh – but I digress. I am actually here to post what I picked up at the Library sale:
Some of these I already have – Barbara’ Walters Audition I do have here in my home, but would like a copy at our cabin. This is a great pick up and read a little bit book.
Will To Murder is about the Congdon Mansion murders that took place in Duluth Minnesota. I have toured the mansion many times and have read the books surrounding this hideous crime. I have a copy of this at the cabin as I like to keep Minnesota history there – but I do not have a copy here at home.
Mirror Mirror by Gregory Maguire, I have, but like to have copies to give away. Gregory Maguire to me, was the author who started the deeper look into background characters of the stories we grew up with and writing their own stories. I think this was just a brilliant idea.
Ted Deckker’s Boneman’s Daughter I have on the TBR shelf – but for 50 cents I can not pass up an additional copy to give away at some point. Perhaps when I read and review the book…
Of course the Nora Robers Dance Upon The Air and Face The Fire are part of the Three Sisters Trilogy that I am always picking up when I find them. This is a series that I love and hold dear to my heart and grab copies whenever I can find them to pass on to those who have not experienced these books.
The rest are a mix of Minnesota authors to try, a little bit of cover love, author recognition, or just a book I would like to read.

Great collection of books! I don’t know a book lover who would have been able to pass up that sale.
I was born and raised in Duluth Minnesota and have never visited the Congdon Mansion. I keep saying that visiting is a tourist thing to do. I still return to Duluth for each summer but haven’t done any of the tourist things. I would like to read Will to Murder.

I would recommend the tour Kathy. I agree it may seem touristy – a lot of people go for the “what happened there” but my friends and I like to go for the history. The rooms are beautifully decorated with the original antiques…. the library is truly breathtaking…
I think it was two years ago for the first time they started including the third floor as part of the tour and now you can see some of the rooms that were not on the tour originally. They also have a breakfast room that is like a three season porch with beautiful plants and a green tile that I wqould love to have in my own home. 🙂

I would like “Outtakes from a Marriage” by Ann Leary. Actually I would like them all so I picked that one because that was my maiden name – Leary.

I would love to win Ted Deckker’s Boneman’s Daughter. I’ve never read his books but I’ve heard that they are very good. I would love to start with this one!
Dekker has an interesting style – for the most part I have liked his writing.
I love it. I am a book addict too and I would have been fighting to get past you to get the books! What a fabulous collection there and so cheap.
LOL Vivienne…. I know…. actually this is the first time I made it out of the sale with so few….. last fall I spend $34. yes, I left with 72 books.
Walking Minnesota looks like a good one. Can you believe I went to the sale (which I swore I wasn’t going to do!) took a quick 5 minute browse and walked out with absolutely nothing?!? If only I had that much willpower when it came to dieting!

Oh, my! I see several there that look good…And I have some of those books, too. Like “Life’s a Beach,” on my TBR stacks, and I’ve read “The Robber Bride” (great book!) and “Between Sisters.” Don’t remember much about that one, but I always like Kristin Hannah.

I would enjoy reading Barabara Walter’s Audition-I enjoy her and think she would have something good to say.
Good choice Esme – I wanted that book so bad and picked up my original copy last year on a sale and still have not read it. I think her interviews would be just fascinating…. imagine all the people she has talked to and the topics that have been covered!
Between Sisters sounds really good and I love to read books that are centered in my neck of the woods.

I would love to win Mirror, Mirror because I read Wicked a couple summers ago and really enjoyed it. It was so unlike anything I usually read that it was just fun!
Me too Jo Jo. I was so impressed with the idea that the book was a win for me before I had even read it. We read it as a book group and some of the group went to the theater in the cities to see the play of Wicked. I had a wedding I was in and had to give my ticket up so I missed it. Oh well…
I have not read Mirror Mirror yet but my original copy has been on my shelf for about a year…..

Wow–what a great deal! I love books (I think I have a bit of a problem too).
My choice would be The Thief – I’ve heard rave reviews of it, and I put it on my wishlist a few months ago. Just haven’t gotten to get it yet. I’d read it, then I’d donate it to my SIL’s 6th grade class library. She’s always looking for new books to add to her shelves.

I Personally Have Way Too Many Books To Count But Of All The Books I Have Read I Have Never Actually Read Or Heard Of Any Of The Titles That You Just Bought. I Do Know Of Nora Roberts But Have Never Read Any Of Her Books. I Have Read The Count Of Monte Cristo, The Man In The Iron Mask, And Three Musketeers All By Alexandre Dumas. So I Was Intrigued By The Club Dumas By Arturo Perez-Reverte So I Looked It Up And Realized This Is A Book I Have To Read. I Can’t Believe I Have Never Come Across This Book Before. I can totally relate to buying books that you already own!! I do that!! Sometimes you just have to when the price is so cheap!! I have at least 10 titles here that I own multiple copies of!
Hmmmm…..I don’t know if I could narrow it down to one choice. You picked up a few that are on my to be read list! (that I do not own yet!) I guess if I had to choose just one it would be Between Sisters.

I would love to read “When I was Five I Killed Myself” because it’s about a little boy who is placed in a psychiatric residence center, and since I worked in the Psychiatry Department for 15 years at a medical school, this is right up my alley! I’ve seen this book around the blogosphere and have wanted to read it.
Plus, it looks like it’s not a very long book so you’d be able to read it really fast and get it to me quickly! LOL
You are right Lynne…. I was drawn to the book. I actually sat it down at the sale but I returned to it and grabbed it again. I have not seen it around and now you have me curious! 🙂

Marjorie – this is the third book in the series. The first one being Dance Upon The Air. I would highly recommend this series (one of my favorite!)
I am not a big Nora fan myself but these books really found a place in my heart.

I had to purchase a new charger for my camera Hannah so I could take a picture of the sale finds. I must have left my charger somewhere during our traveling in February. 🙂

I would love to read Mirror Mirror. Snow White is one of my favorite tales and I loved reading Wicked. Very interesting take on the story 🙂
I never read any of his work beyond Wicked Raelena, but I am anxious to do so and now have most of his books. I enjoyed Wicked too.

I haven’t thought of the Congdon Mansion in years. Being from Two Harbos, we went and visitited it once or twice when I was a kid. I may have to check it out again next time I go home for a visit.
I’m interested to know what Titanic 2012 is about and I’m a little jealous of the Garrison Keillor book, funny guy.
Ryan – yes make it a point to see the mansion again – they have opened a third floor now. I have been on the tour probably 5 times and see something new every time.
Oh, I guess if I wanted to win one it would be Titantic 12 just because it’s one I”m not familiar with already.

THE ROBBER BRIDE looks interesting. You may think it is a terrible addiction to go to the library sales. It is even worse when you work at the library and are the one to sort the books and set up the sales. I am hope less. I have more books than I will ever live long enough to read. And I still want more. there are so many out there, both serious and fluff, that I want to read.
I lost my job at the library about a month ago and I think my husband is breathing a sigh of relief. Of course, we still stop at thrift stores when we travel, not to mention flea markets, yard sales, and other libraries. At least now I have a little more time to read.
Pat – I inquired this time at our library if the people who set the sale up get first pick. Yes they do. They are called friends of the library and they are volunteers.
I am still debating because I kind of like the thrill of standing in line and chatting with the other bookish people. 🙂
And yes, garage sale season is coming! 🙂

What a great haul! I love library sales. Here in the UK we also have Boot Sales, where you take your car open up the boot (trunk i think it’s called in US) and sell whatever you want. It really fun and I have found sooo many great books that way. Have fun reading them all! 🙂

I love the Brainerd library book sale. I went both on Thursday and Friday. Thursday was very crowded. Friday was better. I do wish they would move the book sale to a larger venue, If all the books were displayed on the tables so I didn’t have to stand on my head and get stepped over, it would be better! Ya never know what treasures lurk in the boxes underneath the tables!

Wow, you got some really good ones! The Club Dumas is a great book. Did you see the movie The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp? That movie is based on The Club Dumas. They are really different though. I got some great ones at my sale Saturday…I’m getting ready to post my Mailbox Monday…late as usual!
