The Girl She Used To Be by david cristofano- Giveaway!

Thank you so much to Hachette Book Group who have given me three (3!!!!) of these books to give away!

This giveaway is now closed – Thank you πŸ™‚

When Melody Grace McCartney was six years old, she and her parents witnessed an act of violence so brutal that it changed their lives forever. The federal government lured them into the Witness Protection Program with the promise of safety, and they went gratefully. But the program took Melody’s name, her home, her innocence, and, ultimately, her family. She’s been May Adams, Karen Smith, Anne Johnson, and countless others–everyone but the one person she longs to be: herself. So when the feds spirit her off to begin yet another new life in another town, she’s stunned when a man confronts her and calls her by her real name.

Does this sound super fab or what?

  1. Well, if I told you my name and where I’d be located, where’s my protection?!?!? I’m probably good with the upper Midwest, though. And maybe Anja? But Heather’s a better witness protection name.

  2. Somewhere in Italy! πŸ™‚ I’d love to restart my life there.
My name would be Eleanora. It’s Italian for ‘the other or foreigner’

  3. If I could change my name, I would want my name to be Francis. Except that’s my middle name, so it probably wouldn’t be too hard to find me.
I would want to be in London or Paris, another city in another country, so I can see the world from there.
Even if I’m living in fear, at least I’ll be living.

    This book sounds great. :]

  4. Julie H.

I think I’d be named Jane Handel (a nod to a piano playing best friend) and be placed somewhere similar, but a smidge warmer, like Dallas. Looks like a great story, I really like the cover with that long road going off in the distance.

  5. I think I would want to be named something pretty like Lily or Natalie and I would want to live somewhere really warm and tropical…where it wasn’t stifling hot and there was a salty ocean breeze blowing on my hammock all night while I stared at the stars and drifted off to sleep…anyone know where I can find that place? πŸ™‚

  6. Marilu

Interesting question. I have no idea. I think it would be ideal to have a popular name but, I can’t think of any that I really like….lol!
Maybe I would be Leah and live in Italy.

  7. librarypat

I’d want to be in the Rockies – Colorado or Montana.
I’d change my name to Anita Grace – my mother and her mother’s first names.

  8. I like to imagine, for some reason, going to some cold small town, maybe in Alaska (but where lots of vegetables would be available) or Saskatchawan.
And I guess I could be Addy Triphandapalopolous..
Addy, because it’s close to Audrey, and I love it. Triphandapalopolous because it’s the last name of one of my best friends, and most people can’t say it, and I think it sounds cool.

  9. I love this question and I agree Nova Scotia and Italy sound fantastic.

I would go with Chloe or Tasha as names and I would choose Hawaii or Sweden.

  10. RobynL

I would be Zoe Rose Anderson and I’d like to be in
some country side place but have neighbours a few miles away, say Hope, B.C.

  11. I think I would take the name Rory, and … I’d be sent to Scotland, England or Ireland! πŸ™‚

my address is: sistertyme AT yahoo DOT com

  12. madwoman-doing-cartwheels

Probably Anona Y. Mouse would be appropriate for a name.

    rubymoonstone at gmail dot com

  13. Debbie Frank

My name would be Diana – always loved that name. I would like to live in Texas or Montana – or in the mountains of Tennessee.

  14. Shanna

I change my name to Carmen (because it’s androgynous) Hales (it’s the first name I saw). I would move to Sweden because it is a country that has always fascinated me!

  15. Thanks for the great giveaway! I think I would want to be placed somewhere warm and tropical. Maybe somewhere like St Lucia. I think I would need a common name so I wouldn’t stand out. Maybe Sarah Smith:)

  16. Jill Weatherholt

My name would be Alina Romero. I would like to be relocated to Panama. Of course, I would have to take my copy of The Girl She Used to Be. πŸ™‚

  17. kathy

Saw this book when it came out in hardcover, really love this witness protection storyline. My name would be Stephanie Murdoch and I would like to live somewhere on a lakeshore but near a big enough city, maybe Booth Harbor Maine or somewhere in Vermont or even Montana.

  18. I’d pick a very generic American name (since I have such a long one right now) – maybe something like Amy Smith. I’d like to be located somewhere in Vermont – I spent 4 months there back in high school and love how beautiful it is.
