Morning Meanderings…

Woo!  Busy Monday and I feel like I have come through in flying colors…. coffee cup in hand and Rocky Theme clearly my current theme song.  🙂

Yesterday besides work, interviews, and meetings, I spent my time visiting the Monday What Are You Reading blogs.  I have so much fun with that and if you do not currently do this meme, I would suggest yo give it a try!  we have so much fun!

Also, the wonderful Book Chick City featured my review of Cold Streak by Lewis Aleman.  Stop over there and check out the post.  It was a different genre for me but I enjoyed the read.

Today I have a review coming up and yet tonight I hope to put up a few giveaways that have come my way.  This evening the Bookies meet for the monthly book club and tonights discussion is The Next Thing On My List.   Should be a fun review!  🙂

So tell me – as you are reading this, other than your computer, what is the closest thing(s) to you right now and what time is it where you are at?

Here’s mine:

I am in Minnesota and it is 8:07 am

Closest things to me are:  My Coffee Cup, today’s book for review, and my agenda (which has my library card sitting on top of it.  😉

  1. This is kind of quirky but I like it!

I’m in Vero Beach, FL and it’s almost 9:20am EST.

The closest things to me: My TV remote (Kelly Ripa is on), my cell phone (only phone), my notebook that I keep notes in for my job (PDgo.com), a broken mouse that my 4 yr-old likes to play with, and my current read: Angel & Apostle.

Oh, and lastly, on the couch that’s next to my chair, my pitiful cat who is wearing the “Cone of Shame” after her operation Sunday night.

    Poor kitty.

  2. I am enjoying my prep period and listening to Macbeth.
    8:24am in Minnesota
Closest things to me are my water bottle, black marker, Macbeth cheat sheet notes, kleenex, and all of my school stuff. Need to get prepared! 🙂

    Happy Tuesday Sheila!

  3. OK, I’ll play. I’m in Austin, TX and it is 8:32 a.m.

The closest thing to me is my coffee cup with about 4 sips left (gotta go get more). Also The Poisoned Pen Collector’s Corner Newsletter I got in the mail yesterday with various books highlighted. And…my notepad and pen because I always need to make notes on what I’m reading on the blogs.

    Have a good day!

      1. Well, the one by my chair (same one still) is Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather. I’ve got quite a few awaiting reviews, though. :p And it’s likely at least one other will be posted before this one.

  4. Oh, I love these little games!

    I am in California and it’s 7:15 a.m.

My coffee cup is to my right (and it’s empty!); there’s a notebook in which I jot down book titles as I surf; my agenda is on top of my scanner, with lots of post-its; and my little miniature hippie bug (paperweight) is holding down a stack of bills!

I just posted my review of “The Imposter?” over at my Reflections blog.

    1. Laurel – what is with all the empty and near empty coffee cups this morning? Are we all too busy reading? LOL

I will have to read your review of The Imposter – mine should go up this week too – just have to finish writing it.

  5. Something slightly different, I like this idea.

I’m in Newcastle in the North East of England where the time is 3.37 pm.

Nearest to me are a pen, a note pad and a hospital appointment card which is under a paper weight from Winchester cathedral.

  6. I wanna play too! I am in New Jersey, the family room, next to me is my cup of coffee, the stack of books I need to get caught up on today, and Oscar-my wanna be Garfield-cat. The time is 11:08 am

    1. Deb you have the ever lasting stack of book too huh? My stack follows me from room to room…. I will haul it downstairs when I think tonight I will write these reviews on these books I finished. Then back upstairs when I admit defeat and have not written them…. oh and back downstairs the next day because I am forever optimistic 🙂

      LOL

  7. I’m in Wisconsin enjoying a quiet morning before heading to a few doctor appts. this afternoon. It’s 10:47 am and I’m listening to the Habenera and the closest thing to me is my BlackBerry.

  8. Waving Hi!!

The closest thing to me is a stack of St. Patrick’s Day cards I need to get in the mail and it is 11:08 a.m. Central Time in Texas!

  9. I am in Atlanta, GA, it is 12:34 PM Eastern Time. My desk is by my bookshelf, so the closest things to me are my books and my Barnes and Noble mug…it has all these writers on it…I love my mug…

    1. LOL Sharazad…. when you said you had a Barnes and Noble mug I kind of glazed over with “cup envy” for a minute. Then I finished reading and had to laugh when you said you loved your mug. 🙂

  10. I am in Utah and it’s 10:48 am MST. My closest things are my water bottle and two book packages I’m sending off today for Goodreads Book Swap.

  11. Wow, you’ve hit both coasts already! And another country!
It’s noon here in Minnesota. I just popped open a Diet Coke and have our tax info piled up next to me. Guess what I’m going to do today?

    1. Oh Julie! Taxes? Good luck my friend. I tell my husband constantly that I am a word girl…. numbers overwhelm me…

You may need a second diet coke. 🙂

  12. I’m in Oregon and it’s 10:50. The closest things to me are… too numerous to list (so much junk on my computer desk). I’ll go with those closest to the keyboard: gumwrapper (from the watermelon gum I’m chewing), notepad and pen, two tape measures, mp3 player, camera, cell phone, lego wheel and packing tape. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I can definitely see it’s time to clean. 🙂

    1. Alyce I get the gum and the notepad and pen… the mp3 player, camera, cell phone, and packing tape. I even think I get the lego wheel.

But I am dieing to know – whats with the two tape measures? Are you building or sewing? 🙂

      1. I wish it was just building or sewing. Really it’s just a case of clutter. My desk becomes the dumping ground for things that no one knows what to do with, so a lot of times I end up with a collection of tools (screwdrivers, vice grips, etc.) on the desk. Today it just happens to be tape measures. 🙂 Which have most recently been used to measure how tall the boys have grown, and our windows because we need to replace the blinds. Our cats seem to think the blinds should have holes for them to crawl through (so they’ve done their best to create them).

  13. I’m in California, it’s 11am and the closest thing is my list of things to accomplish today (staring me in the face while I cruise through my Google Reader)

    1. Helen…. those lists bug me and haunt me. LOL

I usually have one of those too. I learned a long time ago that thinking I will remember is usually not true…. 🙂

  14. It is 6:38PM and I’m in NE TN, the foothills of the Smokies. My tea cup is near the computer and my son’s year old pit bull puppy is chasing her tail and bumping into me. Unfortunately, her favorite place to chase her tail is under any table or desk where I’m sitting. I’m trying to get an early start on my web visits tonight so I can get to bed before 3 AM.
The TV is on and my husband and I are watching the national news. The computer is in the family room, so I can watch TV and keep track of things while I am online.

  15. Hmmmm…I’m in NJ and it is 8:45 PM (on Tuesday) and the closest thing to me is a book that I should be writing a review for but instead I’m typing this comment!

  16. It’s 7:48 PM here in Wichita, KS and we just finished eating ribs, corn on the cob, corn bread dressing, and mashed potatos and gravy. Aidan is now finishing his home work.

The closet thing to me is my copy of Raven Stole The Moon by Garth Stein, a pen, my notebook and for some reason my W-2.

  17. Sounds like a nice day for you. i’ve been meaning to join the It’s Monday, What are you reading? meme, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I have more incentive to jump on the bandwagon hearing about how much you enjoy it.

Right now it’s 12:46 AM and I have just finished writing a poli sci paper so the closes things next to are my poli sci books/notes, a can of cherry coke zero, a cup of water, some candy, pens and my iphone.

    1. Early early morning for you Jennifer – or late night I suppose 🙂

Yes – join the Monday meme. It really is a lot of fun and many of the bloggers love to go explore the other Monday Meme’s.

Hmmmm... what do you think?
