It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Sorry for the lateness of this post.  This week is our quarterly serving week with the homeless in our community and tonight I am staying overnight with them.  I just now had time to get this post up and going.  Tomorrow I will be able to catch up and visit all of you who link to this meme!  🙂

My week had started out strong but as I got to the end of it life took over with appointments and “must do’s” and those procrastination things that waited and waited until finally I gave in and did them.

First things first – thanks you to those who came back and let me know that you commented on 10 or more Monday, What Are You Reading posts.  I love the community part of this meme!  :) Remember – for every 10 you comment on and then tell me in the comment area below, I put you in for our weekly drawing out of the prize box!  (10 comments = 1 entry, 20 = 2 entries, etc…)

It is time to announce  last weeks winner (using random.org):

AMY

Congratulations!  You get to choose an item out of the Prize Box !  Let me know your pick here as well as email me at journeythroughbooks (at) gmail (dot) com with your mailing address!

Here is what happened here at OPJTAWOB last week:

The round table discussion of Wounded by Claudia Mair Burney (I had so much fun being a part of this!)

Author Chat with Jay Asher (Thirteen Reasons Why) (Can I just get a squeal up in here?  This was a fun interview!)

I Confess ( a fun little book confession meme where I *cough cough* share an embarrassing book related story)

Hooray for BEA! (A giddy little post on this upcoming event that has me seriously doing cartwheels!)

Penguin Luck by Kay Mupetson (hmmmm….. an unusual book but a good one)

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane (flashback review to a book I LOVE LOVE LOVED)

Merlins Harp by Anne Eliot Crompton (Review of this fantasy read)

Undress Me In The Temple Of Heaven by Susan Jane Gillman (a review of real like happenings!)

Always My Brother by Jean Reagan (a breathtaking read for young children about loss of a sibling)

This week I have a busy week of serving with the homeless in our area.  I am a coordinator for this week so I will be assisting in some way shape or form almost every day so this will cut a bit onto my time.  Also – Al is back home as of the wee hours of this Monday morning (can I get a hollar?).  That being said here is my hopefully doable plan:

I am in this book currently….. and all I can say right now is….. whoa….

Up next….

and this is the third… but not the end…. there are three more books to follow and I am fascinated!

And this is one is up for tour this Thursday

I cant wait to see what you are reading this week!  Be sure to link up below so we can all check out your reads – and stop back with your comment counts to be entered in the weekly comment giveaway (10 = 1 entry, 2 = 20, etc…)

  1. The first three books you listed there really got me intrigue. Will be googling about them right after this. They certainly have fantastic covers as well! Hope you enjoy your reads for today. Have a pleasant week 🙂

  2. Sounds like you have the usual busy week ahead! I hope you get the books read you want to – usually when I have a lot to do I can’t concentrate even when I do get time to read!

  3. I didn’t get back to comment last week even though I visited many blogs. So I know what you mean about life being busy.

I do all my commenting on Monday nights while I watch Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters. I love to multitask LOL.

Hope you have a lovely week doing something you are obviously passionate about!

  4. Looks like your going to have a great read week! Thanks for the link to the Michael Sullivan’s site all three look good.

  5. A very busy week for you! I haven’t read these books. I will have to check them out. My life has been a little crazy lately as well. Hope you have a fabulous week.

  6. I know how a busy life can get in the way of reading and blogging–it is a frequent lament of mine!

I just wanted to let you know I have commented on 10 blogs!

  7. How kind of your family to help! I cannot even begin to understand what it must be like to be homeless. It is so important to stop and think about how lucky we really are and that there are so many people out there in this world that have so little.

I haven’t read all that much this previous week, I’m all wound up for a meeting I’m attending tomorrow. But I did manage to finish a audiobook.

  8. Looks like a lot of reading!! It amazes me how experienced book bloggers can read so many books in a week along with the tasks of every day life. Would love some tips.

  9. I loved Shutter Island too! Now I just need to see the movie.

I’ve had some time this morning, and I haven’t kept count, but I’ve commented on most of the blogs who have linked. Let’s say 40. Thanks!

  10. You have an interesting selection of books, as usual, and most of them are unfamiliar to me!

Except, of course, The Crown Conspiracy. The cover on Beautiful Dead is so captivating!

    I’ve visited 20+ blogs so far…more later.

  11. I love this meme! Thanks for hosting it Sheila.

I left comments on 50(!!!!) blogs this morning. Some great books out there (and I beefed up my TBR list even more lol)

  12. I have Merlin’s Harp and Beautiful Dead that I’ll be working on over the next week or 2, also. I’ll pop back to read your reviews when I finish 🙂

  13. I just realised I didn’t put up my Mclinky 🙂

BTW I have commented on 20+ so far. I love the networking part but forget to come back and say.

  14. It was a busy week for me as well last week. My youngest was home sick all week, so I was able to catch up on my reading! Love your blog!
    Happy Reading!
    ~Laura

  15. Oh my gosh I can’t believe I won! If I didn’t already have 2 copies of Reading Lolita in Tehran, I would totally pick that one. 🙂 Seeing as how I do, though, I would love Water for Elephants. That book has been on my TBR list for I don’t know how long!

BTW, could those Michael Sullivan books have more beautiful covers?

  16. I’m late to the party but did add my mr linky this morning… I will be site hopping this evening. I’m reading Alice I have been – have you read this already? It’s the story of Alice (in wonderland), she’s in her 80’s and remembering the day.

Good timing with the movie release this weekend (in 3D!). I don’t like J Depp but my husband is willing to go so I MUST take advantage!

  17. The Beautiful Dead looks really intriguing; I have not heard of that book before. And I’ve got the first Michael Sullivan book on order at the bookstore. I can’t wait.

I’ve visited 10+ blogs so far. Have a great reading week!

  18. Beautiful Dead has a wonderful cover. I am curious to hear what that book is about. I hope you are enjoying Michael Sullivians books. I look forward to reading your reviews on them.

Oh, I am going to have to remember the 10 Monday responses thing.

    Have a great week!

  19. Hi Sheila, I commented on 10 blogs this week. Just got around to doing it today! Better late than never. Yesterday was crazy for me. I probably could have read an entire book in the car I was driving so much. Too bad I already finished the audiobook I won from you. I’ll have to get another for times like that.

I’m so disappointed I had to return Shutter Island to the library yesterday without reading it! Ugh!

You’re the only person I know who has read A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. I just loved it.

Have a great week, Sheila! And take lots of vitamins, girl. That or lots of caffeine. Not sure how you do all that you do. Guess it’s called Time Management 🙂

    1. I had a crazy day too Lynne – I put the post up Sunday night and was even late at doing that! Then I hardly had any time to come and hang out with all of you which is my favorite thing to do on Mondays!

I am going to take vitamins – good idea! 🙂

  20. My mother-in-law LOVED The Crown Conspiracy! She’ll be happy to hear I’ve found someone else who shares her enthusiasm.

As for me this week just 10 blogs…my week and next week for that matter is looking to be quite challenging.

Hope you have a fabulous week! Enjoy the rest of that series!

  21. Hi Sheila – you always have interesting books! Someday we might have read some the other has read!
I have commented at 11 blogs so far – this makes 12. 🙂

    1. My reading is suffering this week Kristen. I have been pretty tired, but today I am going to finish Lightning Thief so I can review it and the movie. 🙂

I also have a few reviews to write from past books read so i usually have something to post. Otherwise I just talk books with all of you 🙂

  22. Hi, Sheila! I have to say the Riyria Revelations series sound amazing & like my cup of tea 😉 I’ve never heard of them and this is why I love this meme 🙂 Now they’ll go on the top of my wishlist 😀
Also, I’ve commented on at least 10 posts 😉
