Oh craziness! I am up, Coffee Cup in hand and blurry eyed. We have two little shih tzu dogs that were up and down all night. I could hear them get off the bed. Our oldest one Elmo is thirteen and he can not get back on the bed by himself any more so he would wine to get back up. I was pretty much up every hour. Of course now as I go to brush my teeth I see they are both sound asleep on the bed.
I am in the office today and then I drive Al at 1 pm to meet up with our other friends who are heading to Minneapolis to catch their flight to Texas tonight. Our son Justin comes in from Mankato so will meet everyone at the airport. Tomorrow morning they will fly from Texas to Honduras and will return on the 28th of this month.
For me that means I am renting some chick flicks and reading my evenings away. 🙂 I told Al that I am not even sure I will leave the house this weekend. Next Friday I am inviting over some of my girl friends to eat yummy chicken fajita and watch movies.

Now all you need is for the dogs to stay in bed and you’ll have an absolutely delightful week and a half. By then you’ll be rested and ready for life to get back to normal.
Exactly Barbara! 🙂
Man, I want to be invited over too! I love chicken fajitas =)
I hope you get some great reading time in
Come on over Lydia – I always make way too much 🙂
That’s my favorite vacation– being alone at home for the weekend, going nowhere. With chick flicks and/or good books to read. Enjoy!
Laura
Me too Laura! I just love to kick back and have full tv rights (yes no Ice Road Truckers!) for the duration. 🙂
Oh, that sounds like a delight…chick flicks and fajitas!
Those dogs have to go, though! LOL
It does sound good Laurel – I hope they can all make it 🙂
That sounds like a perfect weekend to me!
Ahhh … chick flicks and lots of reading. Can I come over?
Come on over Stephanie – you and Lydia are both welcome! 🙂
My dog does that too. Every so often, he seems to keep me up all night. He is worse than the kids.
They usually dont do that Vivienne…. it was a bit annoying 🙂 I felt bad for AL as he was the one who had a plane to catch today.
I love being by myself in a quiet house reading ! Sorry to hear about your lack of sleep. Enjoy your dogs while you have them though. When he goes you’re going to miss having to life him up on that bed :o) We just had to put ours to sleep earlier this week.
Lori, I will have time to catch up on the sleep 🙂
I so dread that day Lori. Elmo has been a big part of our life. he has grown up with our kids and came at just the right time for all us after my mothers accident. He is a good friend.
So sorry for your loss Lori- I can imagine how hard that is.
It’s nice to have some time to yourself, isn’t it? I know you’ll miss them, but I think you will savor your time. I envy you! Enjoy yourself and keep us posted. 🙂
Oh I will Michelle! 🙂 I always try to minimize my computer time when Al is home so I can spend the time with him. Now with no one here…… let the chatting begin! LOL
What we do for our pets. Of course they are sleeping soundly now. I had cat bum in my face this morning-once morning it was cat whiskers in my mouth-as the little one was sitting so close to me.
xo
LOL Esme! With Elmo so old now he pretty much gets what he wants. If I have popcorn I swear even when he is asleep in the bedroom he hears it popping. He will come and stare at me and I think he winds up with about half of it every time. 🙂
There are nights that I want to strangle my dog. (In a very loving way, I assure you)
Oh yeah murphygracehome – been there 🙂
Sounds like a good way to hunker down!
I agree Julie 🙂
Praying for a safe trip there and back from Honduras. It’s such an amazing thing you all do and I wish I was able to volunteer like that.
I’ve always wanted to visit Omoa, it sounds beautiful. Have you ever been there?
Enjoy your quite time and your night with the girls.
Vicki if you ever do have the opportunity to go or want to know more about it just let me know. 🙂 I take a group once a year.
Omoa? Nope havent been there. Where is that?
Our new puppy has been keeping us from sleep, too.
And when my husband travels, my plan is often what you’ve got planned for this one: books, movies, lots of staying in. 🙂
Oh yeah – the new puppy wordlily! I bet you are going through that! 🙂
I am done with work for the day and am going to cuddle with a book, Gilmore Girls, and my laptop for the rest of the day.
What a great combination! Although I don’t usually try to read a book, watch DVD and work on the computer all at once, myself. :p
Ah, the house to yourself. I’m currently having a few days of that myself. So nice to read uninterrupted for a bit. Enjoy!
It is Jody. I will miss him like crazy but this is good for both of us. Plus the one on one time he will have with our youngest son will be priceless. 🙂 I have went twice with Justin now but this will be Al’s first time.
