Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova **Audio Giveaway!)

Thank you to Hachette Audio for allowing me to have three copies of this audio cd (17 CD’s)!

Winners Have been selected and announced.  This giveaway is now closed.

Thank you!

Psychiatrist Andrew Marlowe has a perfectly ordered life–solitary, perhaps, but full of devotion to his profession and the painting hobby he loves. This order is destroyed when renowned painter Robert Oliver attacks a canvas in the National Gallery of Art and becomes his patient. In response, Marlowe finds himself going beyond his own legal and ethical boundaries to understand the secret that torments this genius, a journey that will lead him into the lives of the women closest to Robert Oliver and toward a tragedy at the heart of French Impressionism.

Ranging from American museums to the coast of Normandy, from the late nineteenth century to the late twentieth, from young love to last love, THE SWAN THIEVES is a story of obsession, the losses of history, and the power of art to preserve human hope.

  1. I’m not big on knowledge about art.. but I am a big fan of “the arts”.. and with that, I’d say my favorite branch is music!

But if you are talking paintings art.. I’d have to say the impressionists. I love standing and staring at paintings and letting my eyes blur and thinking.

  2. It’s a toss-up between mixed media (like collage) and sculpture. And painting. And block printing. And photography. And performance art. And…and…and…

Ergh…I just love art of all kinds.

  3. I love music because I feel like it can express such depth of feeling and is a really sensory experience… also because I can listen to it while I’m working!

  4. I’m not signing up but I just got the hardcover in the mail today and I’m so excited for this book. I hope whoever wins loves it as much as I’m sure going to.

  5. Picking one form of art is hard. I think It would have to be music. You can let it surround you and enjoy it no matter where you are. There is such a wonderful variety. It will match your mood and make your heart soar.

  7. My favorite form of art is photography! I thought I would be a professional photographer but that is not the route I took. I am currently getting back into the hobby I love…started a photo blog to keep track of my progress.
Anyway, I love stuff by Ansel Adams.

My second favorite form of art is music. I love that I can drown myself into a variety of music styles.

  8. I love museums, but when my hubby and I went to Italy a few years ago I fell in love with the beautiful sculptures. I’d love to win this.
