Morning Meanderings

Yesterday Al and I were looking at the Yoder Frey auction most of the afternoon.  For a special dinner last night we went with my cousins and my aunt to Texas De Brazil.  A totally new experience for us but one I hope to repeat.  We really enjoyed the amazing salad bar and the meets were delicious.  I didn’t get to try a lot of the meats because I did exactly what my cousin told me not to do – I filled up on the salad.

Tomorrow I am excited to be taking on the hosting of J Kaye’s It’s Monday! What Are You Reading meme.  I am honored to do so.  I hope if you have participated in this in the past that you will continue to do so, and if this meme is one you have not participated in, I urge you to give it a try.  I like it because it causes me to plan out some of my reads for the week.  Plus – I really love seeing what everybody else is reading around the world for the week.

Have a great day – hubby and I are visiting the Richie Brothers Auction today in Orlando.  We will not be here the actual auction so Al likes to look things over if he wants to bid on line.  It’s all a little over my head but he likes to tell me about the equipment and I don’t mind going along for the ride.  I am hoping to treat him today to his first Cracker Barrel experience!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

  1. I too came late to Cracker Barrel…everyone should do it at least once in their lives. They stopped making my favorite sandwich so we do not go there often anymore

    1. I have only eaten at one once Deanna – I remember they had these amazing pancakes. My hubby loves a good breakfast so I thought this would be a real treat for him.

  2. We go to Texas de Brazil when we are in Aruba–a meat lovers paradise indeed. For me, it’s not worth the cost as I don’t eat much meat (I do the salad bar), but it is a fun experience.

  3. Wow! I hadn’t heard of Cracker Barrel until a friend and I were vacationing in Arizona a couple of years ago. We were leaving Flagstaff and heading back to Sedona, where we were saying, and she literally went into spasms, calling out “There’s a Cracker Barrel!” So then she had to tell me about this restaurant she loved…and the next day, we went back for the experience!

Kind of like a “down-home” Marie Callender’s. It was great!

BTW, about you hosting the meme…I was just thinking about that last night, and wondering if you were starting tomorrow. So thanks for the heads-up!

    1. They have great breakfasts Laurel – I had been there before but not Al so I wanted to treat him. The one time I went was after a girls weekend and it was wonderful!

  4. Ooh, is Texas de Brazil a Brazilian barbecue? I LOVE THOSE!!! So awesome, especially when you can go with a group of friends.

My biggest beef with Cracker Barrel: they serve only sweet pickles, ick.

    1. wordlily it is the Brazilian barbecue! 🙂 YUM! I already looked on the map and there are two in Illinois – my sons graduation from Navy Boot Camp is this coming Friday so we are going there to spend the weekend with him before he moves on. I am hoping we can take him to one of those restaurants if it is not too far.

      1. Sounds like a great plan! The ones we’ve been to were Brioso Brazil (The BEST) and Boi de Oro (I think I’ve got that spelled right), which wasn’t as good as Brioso Brazil, but it worked in a pinch.

  5. Our front porch rocking chairs came from Cracker Barrel. They’re very well made and are holding up beautifully; although to be safe I bring them inside for the winter. Breakfast is definitely the best meal at Cracker Barrel.

  6. Hope Al enjoys Cracker Barrel! We don’t have any up here, but try to go whenever we see one on vacation. It’s a fun restaurant with large servings, and I love their little general store. 🙂

So great that you’re going with Al to the auction and able to spend that time together, as I know your normal schedules are pretty hectic. Enjoy!
