Morning Meanderings…

Good Morning all!  🙂  Day 6 in Florida.  We have had a lot of rain (even now it is raining) and the weather has been a bit cool but coming from Minnesota I am not complaining.  🙂  Al is at the auctions for the day in Orlando and I have a few things I want to do around my cousins home as he should be joining us late Thursday or early Friday morning.  Other than that, the book Home Is Where The Wine Is, happens to be calling my name and that is my afternoon plan.

One bit of exciting news – on a few different occasions I have shared my favorite all time books.  There are an armful of books that I just love the storyline so much I could read again and again.  One such book is not a book, but three books.  It is the Nora Roberts Three Sisters Trilogy that starts with the first book being Dance Upon The Air.  Now before you are in shock that a few of my favorite all time books are written by Nora Roberts – this is not typical Roberts.  These books I found to be different and I recommend them to everyone.

So – on to the news… In December I took part in the Bookworm Carnival where we were asked to share what we consider to be our comfort reads.  This was a perfect opportunity for me to gush about The Three Sisters Trilogy.  Here is what I had said:

“These three books are favorites of mine and are always a “go to” series if I need to just sink into characters that are like old friends to me. Even talking about them now makes me want to go visit them between the pages of these books.”

Yesterday I seen over at Ms. Bookish, due to my gushing about these books, she is making her way through Dance Upon The Air and has called her post, Reading My First Nora Roberts.  What I love, love, LOVE, about this is that this is exactly what I enjoy about blogging.  Sharing books and learning about books and then – picking up a book you never dreamed you would – and falling in love with it.  It has happened to me, I hope it happens for all of you!

Here is my Blast From The Past Post about these books.

Do you have any such books?  Any book that was recommended through another blog or by a friend and due to that recommendation you read the book and LOVED it?

  1. I am surprised that a Nora Roberts book would be your favorite– You’re right– blogging has really opened my eyes to new authors that I otherwise would have never considered before. Now I’ll have to give Nora Roberts another look!

    1. Me too Laura… I have a few others that hit the list too. Dance Upon The Air was the first book my book club read in Aug of 2001. That probably adds to the love of this book as we are still going strong 9 years later…. but seriously, I love these three books.

  2. I think I have said this before-I would never have picked up a N. Roberts book but you have sparked my interest. I love finding books/authors on other peoples websites that I would never have considered.

I must admit I am the person that is always peeking at what someone else is reading and will ask them about the book if it looks good to me-I discovered Ann Rice that way 20 years ago riding subway in Toronto. really besides knitting and sleeping what else is there to do on the subway ride?

    1. Esme you must have a lot of reading time on the Subway. Ann Rice I tried and couldnt get into her. I have a girl in my bookclub who loves her and has read everything she has written.

  3. I went through a huge Nora Roberts phase a few years ago, and that series is one my mom had me read and I loved it. It’s the only series of hers I own now!

  4. Hey!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am so glad I inspired you to pick up P&P and finish reading it! You will not be disappointed! :o) Ahhh… just thinking about it makes me happy! hahaha!
I have not read anything by Nora Roberts, but I might have to pick one up now and try it!
I hope you have a great day!

  5. Never read a Nora Roberts book but have some on my shelf. I’ll have to find Dance Upon the Air, sounds wonderful.
Hope you have a wonderful day :0)

  6. I have read some Nora Roberts books in the past…it’s been awhile! Even some J. D. Robb books.

I always enjoy them, but lately, none of the titles have caught my attention. But this trilogy does sound intriguing…

Recently, I decided to try Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books…reading one that was a bit later in the series. I loved it! So now I’m going to read more of them.

I wouldn’t say it was my favorite, but I enjoyed the book.

Lately, I’ve been writing down authors and titles in a notebook, so that I can request books from the library that I find in other blogs…It’s a more affordable way to do things than clicking over to Amazon!

    1. I remember you saying you had dove into the Evanovich series Laurel. I think you would really like the Three Sisters Trilogy from what I know of your reading style. 🙂

AND – love that you are using your library 🙂

  7. I am SO glad you blogged about this – once I go through this trilogy I’m going to read the Key trilogy. If it hadn’t been for your recommendation, I wouldn’t have discovered that Nora Roberts is such a masterful storyteller. I’d thought her books were all straight romance, which isn’t really to my taste, but these magic ones are so lovely. And I would love to live on Three Sisters Island!

    1. Hi Belle! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! I dont like romance either… but these books – well, now you know! I would love to live there too and work in Mia;s book store. 🙂

Oh and The Key Trilogy is also magical…. more warlock like, but good characters and a great story line. Enjoy!

  8. That’s one of the things I love about blogging as well! Have found so many new authors that I might never have discovered if it weren’t for bloggers. 🙂

Hope you’re finally able to take advantage of that pool before you come home! And while rain sounds so much better than snow, hope the sun comes out for you. Have fun!

  9. That is so great! You have also inspired me to actively look for the 2nd and 3rd books (I have the first) and read the series. I bought a Nora Roberts at a used book sale a couple of weeks ago. It was Three Fates. It didn’t have a jacket so I thought it was one of the Three Sisters books (dumby me left my list with the titles at home). I got it home and found out it wasn’t. Oh, well…it still sounds like a good read. It is great when we can inspire people to read our favorites, especially if they end up loving them as much as we do.

    1. Oh good Michelle – you have to read all three to put the entire story together! 🙂

I read Three Fates for book club a few years back. I dont recall enjoying it and cant really remember the story line. Have you read it yet?

  10. OK, you have finally got me to add these books to my wishlist! 🙂

I actually got into many of the books I love through friends recommendations. Harry Potter was loaned to me by a friend who insisted I read the books. She gave me three, I read the 1st one and gave them back and bought my own.

Stephanie Plum and Fablehaven were both recommended to me by my blogging partner Rae. 21 books later I’m still a huge fan!

    1. Oh good Jodi! I have read and love all the Harry Potter books. Sadly, I have yet to get to Fablehaven although it sits at home next to my reading chair waiting on me.

  11. One book recently a friend talked me into and I am so glad she did was Hunger Games. I really enjoyed that book. I keep all my books, currently anyway, in hopes of reading them again in the future or even looking back through them to remember. But at the current time I have so many books to read and on my list that I really want to get and read that I don’t get to go back and reread anything. I am loving thought!

    1. Melissa I really enjoyed Hunger Games too. That is a book that I would have never picked if not for the raving going on throughout the blogs of how fantastic it was!

  12. For a comfort read, I go back to my Julie Garwood historicals. She was the first romance writer I read and I love her stories. Since I’ve read them several times, I can relax and enjy them.
