It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

Thank you to J Kaye’s Blog for this great meme that I use weekly to check off the books that are on my radar for the week.  This is not an exact science….  books I plan on reading, sometimes I do not get too.  Books that were not on my list to read that week, some how wind up in my hand and read.  *sigh*

This Last week I reviewed:

Collision Of Evil

American Rust (w/giveaway!)

Rene Has Two Last Names

Mother Daughter Book Club Book

Denise’s Daily Dozen

I tossed around the idea of:

Book Blogger Convention (Maybe)

This week – is all about The Library.  With us leaving this Thursday for Florida, I have a few library books that are all started – and I need to finish them up and return them on Wednesday.  Those books consist of:

I am in the last quarter of this book and find this a powerful read.  I thought I would have it done this past weekend but had an incredibly busy weekend that left little time for reading.  This true story of Emmanuel Jal is a real eye opener that I am anxious to share in my review.

This one I have about 100 pages to go but it is a quick read and a fun read.  This book is one of the 2009 Christy Award Winners and I am enjoying this light read!

Fascinating book I am still working my way through.  I have about half way to go in this one so need to kick it down over the next couple of evenings.

Alas, Ballad will be returned to the Library unread.  When I checked this out I had forgotten that this was a 2nd book in the series and I have not read Lament yet.  I reserved Lament but as of yet it has not come in so this will have to wait for another time.

So that is my week of reading.  Later this week I will post about the books that are going to Florida with me….. now that should be interesting…LOL

What are you reading this week?

  1. hi Sheila,

This is my 1st time dropping by at your blog (and i think its awesome)..

Honestly, i’m not familiar with all the books you enjoyed last week.. but they look interesting read.

but ballad is in my to be read list. hoping to peek on your review later!

    • Lydia the best word I have for this book is powerful. I am going to try to review it in the next couple of days here

  2. I’m currently reading The Warrior heir by Cinda Williams Chima. Very good so far.

I’ve already loaded up my Reader for my trip to Florida on Thursday!

  3. I have been really bad about finishing my library books lately. It bums me out when I have to send them back unred.

    • Alyce this is my first round of library books in about 20 years… I am going to try really hard to do “late fee free”….. LOL

  4. That should be “unread” not “unred.” I hit submit right as I noticed it. I was typing a wee bit too fast. 🙂

  5. Looks like you had a great week.

I think I’ve seen War Child around, but I also think I’m mixing it up with another book, so I don’t know if I heard good things or bad… Looking forward to your review.

I’ve got Ballad on my list of TBR soon books. I hope you do get to read Lament… and I hope you enjoy it.

    • I recommend War Child and I think if this is the book you have heard about Jo I cant imagine a bad review on it.

I do want to read Lament!

  6. So sad when a book goes back to the library unread, but I’ve done it more times than I care to remember. Sometimes it simply can’t be helped.

Hope you’ve been able to check everything off your to-do list today!

    • Alexia – now that we are part way through the day things are looking better. I think I may have eliminated a couple timely projects and made the decision to not push myself with the extras this week. The funeral zapped my energy but all things considered, I think I will now have time to relax a bit with a book before I hit it again. 🙂

  7. Love the cover of The Mercy Seller – will have to check out my library for that one!

    Happy reading!

  8. I love that you used your library card!!! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on these…especially the first one. And I’m really looking forward to the HUGE list I’m sure that will be coming for your books that are traveling to Florida!

  9. I use the library a lot, and I had to turn in a couple unread last year when I went on vacation too! This week, I just started Alice I Have Been. I’ve been looking forward to it, has an interesting premise, being about the real Alice in Wonderland.

  10. You had a good week last week! Lament and Ballad are on my wishlist since I loved Shiver so much. Have a great week reading & travelling 🙂

  11. This is my first time at your blog. I’ve enjoyed by visit. I haven’t read anything on your list but it all looks enjoyable. Have a great reading week.

  12. I am curious on Ballad to see what you think. It does sound really good and the series as well.

Hope you have a great reading week and get through all your books.

    Happy Reading!

    • Hi Melissa – well it will have to wait as Ballad goes back to the Library unread. 😦 It is due the end of the week and I havent opened it. We will try again at a later date.

  13. Ugh! That’s happened to me more than I care to remember. I’ve even purchased books, not knowing those were part of a series. I wish they would clearly mark these books as series books. It would help save me time. 😉

  14. I’m working on ECLIPSE by Meyer, LIGHTENING THIEF by Riordon, listening to ELDEST by Paolini, and THE ANGEL by Carla Neggers. I really need to read faster. There are so many good books out there that my work reading is keeping me from my personal reading.

    • Those all sound wonderful Pat! I keep picking up Lightening Thief and putting it down. I had it in my hand twice today at a book store but with everything I have to read I just didnt know if I should purchase.
