Book Blogger Convention (Maybe)

Ok…. so I am so new to all of this.  I am now signed up to go BEA and so excited!  This will be my first time attending and my heart is spilling over with excitement!  To think a year ago I knew nothing of this world…. this is like my utopia!   🙂

The Book Blogger Convention is actually the day after BEA, on Friday May 28th.   The Book Blogger convention is a one day event intended to provide support, instruction, and social time for people who blog about books.

I would absolutely love to do this – but I need a roomy.  I am going to BEA with Reagan (Miss Remmer’s Reviews) and she has to return to Minnesota on Thursday.  I don’t want to stay alone so I am currently planning on returning to Minnesota with her, unless someone needs a roommate for Thursday and Friday night – and in that case I will see what the cost is to add a couple more days on to my plane ticket.

In the event that I have a blogging buddy out there who is also considering doing this and is in the same boat as me, or you are planning on attending but wouldn’t mind splitting room cost, please email me at journeythroughbooks@gmail.com.

Either way, if I go or not – I still think this is a wonderfully exciting event that I am happy to help promote. 🙂  Be sure to go to the Book Blogger Convention Blog for all the details!

  1. I had seen this and thought it would be really neat to do. But I don’t think I can get there.

I hope you find someone to room with and are able to go. If you do, hope you have a great time. Then you will have to share all the great things with us here. 🙂

  2. There’s always the hostel option. I’d offer to room with you but I’m going to be in NYC for 7 nights and I need my room to be less than $50 per night, so I’m staying in a really nice hostel. (If you’re interested in the hostel details, I have them up on my blog right now.)

    1. Thanks Amanda for that information. I heard about the Hostel’s. I may take a look at that. I get nervous about getting back to the airport too. I have never been to New York before. 🙂

      1. I know how you feel. I was really nervous my first and second time there and I know I’ll be nervous this time too. There are maps of the subway system online that you can get which really helps, plus they’ll have physical copies in the airport. I still hate getting a taxi for anything. :/

  3. I’m going to be so jealous reading all about BEA and Book Blogger Convention but my middle kid is graduating that weekend so it’s definitely a no-go for me.

  4. I hope everything works out for you so that you can stay the few extra days!

Wish I could go too, it’s been quite a few years since I’ve been to N.Y.

I look forward to hearing all about it and seeing your photos!

  5. Sheila-do not worry about NY-I have only been once but it is relatively safe-you can just catch a cab back to the airport-but have your hotel set it up as the rate will be pre-set.

I know I need to get going on this and decide if I am going-do you know anyone looking for a roommate?

  6. Oh, how I wish I could go! I absolutely love New York, and going to the Book Blogger convention would be just heaven. Maybe another year. Having a blogger roomie would be so fun, too! Have a great time!

  7. I so wish I could go, but I’m afraid that after spending a bunch of cash on my family vacation I just won’t be able to afford it. I might plan for it next year though…a little getaway for my hubby and I would be fun, and I’ve never been to New York either!

  8. Planning on going to BEA, but not sure if I’ll be able to afford the Book Blogger convention as well. I’m excited for BEA as it sounded like so much fun last year! Wish I could do both, but maybe next year…

Good luck finding a roomie for the last two nights!

  9. I’m so excited! Maybe we could have a get together one night before BBC at a restaurant or something. Just to hang out for a bit. I so wish I could stay, but I’m just lucky the Bride ‘let’ me go in the first place!

  10. I am SO jealous of everyone who gets to go to BEA and the blogger convention! I just can’t justify all those days off work during the second to last week of school. Is the event ever on the west coast or always NYC?

I love NYC and you will have a safe and fun time. Enjoy!

  11. I wish I could go, but it’s just not going to happen this year for me. Fortunately my hubby is a librarian, so I’ll get to go to the ALA summer conference for a day or two this year (but don’t know if I’ll have time to meet up with any bloggers – I’ll just have to wait and see). Hope you have fun at the convention!

  12. What a great sounding event. Would be fun, but not an option this year. Wouldn’t it be fun to spend a year attending every book related conference and convention available. All we’d need would be time and money (lots of it).
    Enjoy the the conventions.
