Morning Meanderings…

Good morning!  Another week is upon us … (I will pause here with my Coffee Cup to hear the universal groan of a Monday throughout the blogesphere)…. and the few optimists that are saying “yippy”!   Hello friends  🙂

This weekend I had the opportunity to see two movies at the theater.  Yes.  Two.  What an over achiever am I…LOL.  It was Friday afternoon when my hubby decided we should go and see Avatar.  I wasn’t sure it was a movie I wanted to see… the length was a down point for me, but Al is always so busy a chance to spend time together is very rarely turned down… so off we went.  Turns out – I really enjoyed the movie.  It was not at all “alienish” like I thought it was going to be… in fact I was really impressed with where the story went and it didn’t seen long at all.  (Sherlock Holmes on the other hand from Christmas Day seemed loooooonnnnnggggg…. but that’s a different story).

On Saturday afternoon my friend Wendy and I went to see Blind Side and this movie was beyond even my hopes.  It was fantastic.  I will probably go to it again if I can rope someone to go with me.  I will definitely own this one.   If you haven’t seen it I recommend that you take time to do so.  I cried no less than three times…. I think the first time was about 15 minutes into the movie.  SO GOOD.  Highly recommended.  I would say best movie I have seen this year (which is true) but since this is only January 4 that probably doesn’t hold much water.  😉

Seen any good movies lately or planning to see any of them that are coming out soon?

  1. OMG, I LOVED “Blind Side.” I, too, saw it these weekend. I had the two teen grandkids (well, Fiona is ALMOST thirteen), and they wanted to see it. We all loved it.

    I was crying, too!

As for Avatar, I’ve been hesitating, but now I’ve heard from two friends that it’s really good, so I just might have to do it!

In our local theater, it’s in 3-D.

    The length, though…GROAN.

    1. Laurel – the length threw me off too but it really was good. i dont know how to describe it other than it was so different than I thought it would be. See it.

  2. I’ve been wanting to see Blind Side!! Your review makes me want to see it more than ever.

As for Avatar, I’d never even consider seeing it if I hadn’t read your review, now I am!!

    1. Vicki – yes see Blind Side – you will love it. I think you will be surprised by Avatar. I would never have went if AL hadnt wanted to – now I am glad I did.

  3. I’m going to see Avatar on Thursday, a date night for me and the hubby. He wants to see it in 3D, which I can do without. I like the effect, but I’ve never had a decent pair of glasses, and they don’t include every inch of my range of view of the screen. I need to get wrap-around-grandma glasses!

I’d also like to see Sherlock Holmes, but no one in my immediate circle wants to go. I might just have to take myself!

A friend of mine works in the media and met Sandra Bullock at a screening of The Blind Side. Actually, he was just riding in her elevator. He’s a Christian, and he thanked her for her fair and touching portrayal of a committed Christian. She said that the faith of the people in this real-life story really had an effect on her. They were really genuine people who were a joy to be around. Kind of a neat story!

  4. I saw Sherlock Holmes and Up in the Air yesterday and Sherlock was definitely the more interesting of the two.

Saw Avatar twice last week and the Blind Side about a month ago and out of them all I think Avatar was my favorite followed closely by The Blind Side. That movie made me cry so much!

  5. My husband and I both loved The Blind Side – a major miracle since he doesn’t usually like my choices. We aren’t even tempted to see Avatar – not our thing – and my friend didn’t like Sherlock Holmes, said it was long and boring. Has anyone seen Invictus? That’s one I want to see.

  6. I haven’t been to a movie for quite some time, but there are definitely some good ones out there right now. The Blind Side and Sherlock Holmes are definitely a couple I would love to see.

  7. Did you like Sherlock Holmes-I did not and we left and fortunately It’s Complicated was just finishing its previews.

I also saw IN the Air -which we also liked.

  8. I’ve seen Blind Side twice. And it’s rare that I see movies more than once. I absolutely LOVED it. Do go see it again, because it’s even better the second time around.

My husband is dying to see Avatar. Normally I can’t stand movies like that, but I’ve heard so many good things about it that it sounds like one of those that shouldn’t be missed, if only for the amazing special effects.

    1. Lynne I am so going again! 🙂 See Avatar I think you may be surprised – the story line is way different then I thought it would be…. it is not as much of a guy flick as I thought!

  9. I can’t wait to see Sherlock Holmes! Love Robert Downey, Jr. Looks like a great movie. Husband wants to see Avatar. Doesn’t look like something I would like but , eh you never know!

    1. Alexa I want to see Lovely Bones too. I listened to the audio and didnt like the reading (which is sad because it is read by the author). I am curious about the movie though.

  10. Oh, I have not been able to get to the theater to see Avatar. I want to go see it. The kids even want to see it too. Now we just have to find the money and time with everything else going on. I WILL GET THERE! Well, I can keep telling myself this any how…

I do have to say I will go with you to see Blind Side again! We went to see it already as well. We all loved it. I was definitely a movie to satisfy all of us, kid of 10 included as he loves football and plays football. We will definitely own this one as well. I do have to say this movie was done very well. Very touching and yet there was great humor to give you the chuckle when you needed it. I loved the love in the movie.

Glad you got to see both of these movies and great sharing!

  11. I’ve been wanting to see Blindside and Avatar both but haven’t had a chance to. Hubby and I were going to go see Avatar today but he was called out to work. Maybe tomorrow! 🙂

  12. Have Blind Side on our list, but it’s so tough to get to the movies these days. Will just have to try harder I guess. Thanks for the good recommendations!
