This is one of those mornings. It was pitch black outside when I woke up this morning at 7 am. Honestly I think the only think that made me move was knowing that Coffee Cup was waiting for me. 🙂 So I got up and tried to think of something witty for this mornings post. And…
Nothing.

Thank goodness for book topics! I will never run out of things to talk about with books. One of my first favorite authors… Oh, let me define what favorite author means to me:
Favorite Author (as defined in DeChantal’s Dictionary): An author who’s books can not – will not, no way, no how, be missed…. having waited months for said book to come out it is quickly devoured and then mourned as it is over and now the reader is left hungry for more and chasing down tips on Google as to when the next book will be out and why oh why can they not write faster??????
Ok. That said…. one of those authors for me started in my teen years and that was Dean Koontz. The man – could write no wrong. (Until he did – but that’s another story). And today as I am picking my brain for a fun topic and at the same time knowing I am in an odd caffeine stimulated mood…. I find out Dean Koontz does have a book coming out soon, and here it is:
Isn’t it beautiful? The thing is that even though Dean Koontz was one of my first favorites… as years have gone by and my reading palate has grown to crave the taste of so many different genres, so many different authors, that now I could not choose a favorite. Of course… my hearts till skips a beat when I see a book such as Breathless and know that there is a pretty good chance that there is a spectacular story between the hard cover binding.
I looked at this book this morning and while it is not being released until November 24, it is currently marked at $9.00. WHAT???? Needless to say I have preordered to lock in that price and I keep looking at it thinking I am missing something to explain this low price…
So how about you? Do you have any favorite authors or once favorite authors that you never miss(ed) a book?

Where did you order it from? I know Walmart online just dropped the price of a ton of upcoming books to $9 with free shipping.
Hi Zia – if you click on the book picture it links to Amazon. It is there for $9. Should I be nervous that book prices are dropping or thrilled? Or both?
Yeah that’s what I heard. I read an article somewhere where Walmart and Amazon were both dropping the prices of book. I guess it’s a price war.

Most of my favourite authors are dead actually. I guess I always look forward to Stephen King’s latest book (there’s a King vs Koontz war going on in my house). And recently I couldn’t wait for Audrey Niffennegger’s new book. 🙂
Like you, it is hard for me to narrow it down to one favorite author, but there are authors whose books I always want copies of…like Jonathan or Faye Kellerman, Sue Grafton, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Jodi Picoult…the list goes on.
I have liked some of Dean Koontz’s books, but others, not so much.
Goes to show you…everyone’s taste is SO different. But the cover of this new book of his does intrigue me! Hmmm…
Woot! Another Koontz fan! Have to say that Dean is one of my favorite authors. He’s one of the few that I will buy every book he writes, no questions asked. Not a big fan of the Frankenstein series, but still reading them. What can I say, I’m hooked! *L*
As for the great price…Amazon and Wal-Mart are having a price war over some big name books. Koontz, King, Crichton, Grisham, and a few others. Heard this morning that Target just jumped into the fray, but Borders and B&N haven’t as of yet. A hardcover costs more than $9, so they must be losing tons of money. But that didn’t stop me from ordering!
I was a Dean Koontz addicted when I was younger as well. I read all his books until I moved out on my own and started getting scared when reading late at night. But, I just got the first Odd Thomas book, so it looks like I’m back on the Koontz bandwagon.
Now I race to the store when a new Stephanie Plum or Sookie Stackhouse novel comes out, and I’m also a total Kelley Armstrong addict.

I have always liked Dean Koontz. Right now I am reading his book about his dog Trixie titled A Big Little Life.

Koontz is one of those hit and miss authors for me. Some of his books I love and others have me scratching my head over.
Hi J Kaye, Koontz was a hit for me every time when I started reading him… then in later years he had a couple I just couldn’t get into. I am hoping this new one is a good one!
