  1. Worst job I ever had? Has to be the one I have right now. I’m a corporate accountant, working in the field I went to college and got my degree for, but I absolutely loathe what I do and who I work for. I’d rather go back to bartending and waitressing like I did in my college days!

  2. That is funny Lori! I was wondering when I asked the question if someone was going to say their current one! 🙂

My worst job? I was 18 and decided to try to sell Kirby Vacuums door to door. It was AWFUL! I am not cut out for pushy sales. I quit by sneaking in the back door of the Kirby Company with my model vacuum that I had stuck a post it note on that said – “I Quit”

I wonder what they thought when they seen it? Ha ha

  3. And I tweeted about the contest! Whew. OK, I’m done now!

  4. I really haven’t had many different jobs and I kinda liked them all! Sometimes I hate the part of my job of mom where I have to cook all the time and try to please everyone!

Hey, Sheila…That’s kind of a toss-up about “worst job,” because I had a few! But I guess I would have to say the year that I worked weekends for the newspaper, as a “service representative,” which basically meant driving around at 5 a.m., to all the newspaper carriers’ homes, to make sure they were up and folding their newspapers…and then calling in every half-hour (this was before cell phones!) to see who complained, so I could deliver their papers!

Here I am again, Sheila, with a link to my blog in which I have posted YOUR link to this contest.

Hi again, Sheila…I twittered your contest at this link:

  8. Thanks Laurel! 🙂

  9. Worst job? receptionist for an optometrist when I was in high school. It was only 2 days a week but he was never there and it was boring. I got tons of reading done tho.

  10. My worst job, that is a tough one. I have had a few jobs through the years (we moved around the country alot before we had kids) but I liked most all of them. I guess the worst would be when I worked in a bank in Phoenix for about a week, and the person whose job I was taking, hated and I do mean hated her boss, who was to be my new boss, and they both spent most of that week, telling me how horrible the other person was. Often in front of the other person. I was so glad that I got offered another banking position in North Phoenix, closer to where we lived.

Hey, Sheila…just stopping by. It’s interesting to read the comments…

  12. I worked in a canning factory sorting corn and picking out the moldy ears. Messy messy messy.

  13. waitress—– Although being a waitress had its good days, I was not well suited for the job….

  14. laurelrainsnow

Hey, Sheila…I have some questions about how to do some things on this new site…like how to add the Facebook Badge!

Can you e-mail me at…when you have a minute?

  15. Sharon Walling

To be honest, I never had a worst job. I liked or loved all my jobs throughout the years.

  16. Worst job working in an office as a marketing assistant. The job wouldn’t have been bad but the owners screamed and swore at each other at the top of their lungs almost every day!!! You could hear every word…Not fun!

  17. A waitress in a small family owned Chinese restaurant. Waitressing is very hard work.

  18. Worst job ever? Oh gosh, waiting tables at this horrible diner with an incredibly rude manager. I finally had enough and called in – “Yeah, I won’t be coming into work today, I’m feeling too good to come in. Actually, I think I’m feeling too good to ever come back.”

Only job that I never gave notice for.

  19. Oooh, actually I have to change it.

LOL. I once was a telemarketer. For HEARING AIDES.

“Hi, this is Christina calling from ____________. We’d like to schedule a free hearing test at our office.”

“A hearing test. Sir? Can you hear me?”

    “A what test?”

[angrily] “What do you mean hearing? I can hear just fine!”

    Pinky promise. Really happened. :))

  20. My worst job was working as an office manager for a workaholic who expected me to work late everyday and come in on weekends (without extra pay).

  21. Barb Schroeder

Would definetly be Meyers Cleaners in Brainerd! It was only for the second half of the summer, thank goodness, but to this day I still jump when I hear that loud bell go off at the fairgrounds game areas. (It sounds excatly like the break time bell) it was well over 100 degrees in there and we even had to join the union!!!!

  22. door to door saleswoman selling christmas cakes. i think i made about 15 bucks for a weeks worth of getting doors slammed in my face.

  23. My worst job was a temp position I had when I was 17. I worked at JC Penny’s during the Christmas season. People are absolutely CRAZY when they are doing their holiday shopping!

  24. The worst job I’ve ever had was, actually, very related to Julie’s: personal assistant. Getting yelled at every day for things I didn’t do was AWFUL. Thankfully, really, I got let go for financial reasons.

  25. I Tweeted about this contest as well; thank you so much!

  26. I worked as an elf at a place called santa’s land when I was 15

  27. tweeted

  28. Worst job was the 3 weeks I tried to be a waitress at Swiss Chalet. I really was not cut out to be a waitress.

  29. The worst job I ever had was working as a cashier in high school such a boring job and people can be so mean when the item they are buying rings up at the wrong price like that was my fault I was just the cashier not the person how plugged in all of the numbers into the database.

  30. The worst job I have every had was working at a place that sold gravestone memorials.

  31. The worst job i had was at a resort lodge in the dining room, where the bats came out every evening around the time of dinner, and we had to pretend that they were not there, I have a big fear of bats.

    • Kaydi Johnson

Oh-Lori, I would totally not be O.K. with just ignoring bats. I worked at a elementary school library and one day I came in and the overhead lights were covered with wasps. I started shaking and ran out of the library. Luckily, the principal closed the library for two days and the wasps were extermained.

  32. My worst job ever was actually only the worst job ever at the time…lol when I look back now, it was kinda’ fun. But, back in the day, having to roller skate out to cars (and this was supposed to be like the old diners but it was actually the 80’s) and taking orders was just plain embarrassing. It’s actually kinda’ cute when I think of it now. But back then…on weekends…man, was I ever red! LOL

    xoxo AMY (Park-Avenue Princess)

  33. Kaydi Johnson

Worst Job??? Cleaning a dirty, cockroach invested apartment- not mine- and not getting paid any extra. Just part of the “job” of caretaking apartments in Minneapolis. Also on that job, getting called a #@$%&*$#@ for towing someone’s car- they weren’t on the lease and I didn’t have a record of their car, so I was right, but it didn’t feel good.
