Meghann and Claire grew up in a household where their mom, a seeker of the limelight, did not want children; she wanted an audience. As the children grew, Meghann took care to protect her younger sister from their mothers less less-than-loving ways.
As the girls grow to adulthood, Meghan becomes a successful attorney, and the girls grow apart, but when Meghan learns that Claire has found the love of her life and is planning to marry in a short time – Meghan’s big sister gene sends her quickly back to her sister to be sure she is making wise choices.
I have read some amazing Kristin Hannah books, and this one felt like a perfect book to dig into over the spring in Minnesota…
a few things –
Most of us have read the often-used storyline of a family torn apart for one reason or another – and the wayward (insert flavor of the week here – daughter, son, mother, girlfriend, widow, wrongfully accused) returns home for one reason or another and while dealing with one thing – the reason they left in the first place is resolved.
This book – was a little like that.
The lead in was long – a lot of back story a lot of content to get where we were going – suddenly the book changes and its moving to fast – things happen, and pages later it changes again – without giving anything way – a nice story but the second half of the book kind of went-
BAM that just happened
And then BAM – this big thing happened within days
AND BAM BAM – big decisions need to be made.
That gripe aside, I did enjoy the story – family bonding, wrongs are righted and family – even disfunctional prevails.
Not all that exciting – but enough tohold my attention to know what was going to happen.
