Good morning. Still no snow here in Central Minnesota.
……………………………………
😛
Love that.
So… is just Minnesota… or is the “white elephant” gift party a big thing everywhere. Seriously, I have been to three of these so far this year.
If you are not familiar with the term, a White Elephant party is where you exchange gifts by rolling dice or drawing numbers, but the white elephant gift is to be one of those items you don’t want… something odd like a plastic football shaped bowl, an old t – shirt, plastic santa, a well used board game, funky socks, etc…
Well last night, I had the ultimate White Elephant gift! It took some maneuvering to get my hands on.
1.First… I called the girl who I thought was the holder of said item, Sandi.
2. She said she did not have it, her sister Kari did.
3. I called Kari in which I offered to buy said item from her…. she laughed and said I could have it, as she had two. Awesome! 😛
4. After work I drove out to Kari’s new house but could not find it house.
5. Called Kari and left a message, tried her husband Tim, called Sandi and left message
6. Drove back to my house.
7. Sandi returns my call and says I did not go far enough… so back I go out to find the house
8. Success! I find the house and then receive the item!
SO last night I am at the party and when my item is chosen by the unsuspecting Kelly…. I can’t wait! It is:
So what is “Go Girl?” It is an item for women to use to go to the bathroom with ease when they are camping… although the packaging also mentions, fishing, and concerts which concerts concerns me a bit… but I am not going to spend time on that one…LOL
There was a coveted item of the night which actually was not only a pretty sweet item for a White Elephant party, it got my mind thinking of what I could do with this… (I don’t have an actual pic of the item but here is the basic idea:)
My friend Kate, made something like this except it just said Kickasserole and it was etched in the bottom of a glass baking dish. When I asked her how she did this she said she used Glass Etching Cream. Well… needless to say I was fascinated! This cream, using vinyl letters etches the lettering into the glass. No kidding…. my head is swimming with ideas. 😀
Finally, you may be wondering what I walked away with….
It was this:

And I am keeping them as last week I cut myself on the paper cutter and needed a band aid bad! So this is just a smart item to have around. 😀

Still no snow here in north central FL either! Okay by me! Your party sounds like a lot of fun..
DO you get much snow in that part of Florida Kaye? I guess I think Florida and I think SUNNY! 😀
We have only had snow a couple of times in my lifetime here in the Central Valley. Once in 1962…during finals week in college sophomore year. And sometime in the 1990s, I think.
We were excited, but the snow melted pretty fast.
I wouldn’t like snow as a regular thing. I like to visit the snow…lol
Funny gifts!
I dont even like to visit it Laurel 😀
I am sitting here laughing at the ‘Go Girl’ gift! I saw that product about a year ago and thought ‘who in the world would buy that, and who would use it?’ I love the idea of it being a white elephant gift. Good thinking, Sheila! ROTFL!
LOL – I did not buy it… let the record show that instead I made phone calls, found it, bartered for it, drove to pick it up 😀
The girl who got it at the party thought it was toilet paper for girls. I said… not really 🙂
OMG, hysterical. Being a long distance runner, I have witnessed some funny stuff. Once while running at Lake Harriett I saw a guy (he was about 30 feet in front of me), move his running shorts to the side and he took care of business while running!!! HORROR
Love the Kickasserole.
Oh my Mari!!! LOL I am glad he was 30 feet it front of you! 😀
Too funny-I just finished reading a book about restaurants and the owner had some funny comments about women and bathrooms.
OOH review please 😀
White Elephant exchanges happen here in SoCal. My dad’s done some. I think there are a few people in some of his radio club exchanges that shop like it is always a white elephant exchange, even when its just a cutthroat one.
Your ultimate gift is definitely an odd one. I heard about it a year or two ago and it still sounds rediculous
It is sooooo ridiculous – but so glad I was able to use for fun 😀
I’ve never heard of gift exchanges like that around here, but it sounds like fun!
They are just funny Kathy, people play it different ways but my favorite is that after everyone has picked a gift we have a five minute round where we roll doubles or seven and then we can switch our gift for someone elses…. the gifts are usually pretty bad… and some of the sorts ones show up year after year….
At the company I used to work we had a White Elephant exchange every year. It was loads of fun and most of the stuff exchanged was hysterical. But one year I got a nice pair of candlesticks… not ugly at all!
Every once in awhile there is something nice in the mix… I would not have minded the kickasserole dish… 😀
For use at concerts?? Umm, no thanks.
Yeah… I dont want to go to any of those concerts 🙂
I gave away one of the two extra copies of Tess of the D’urbervilles and the person who got it is clearly not a bookworm! (I accidentally ordered two extra copies of the book and didn’t give them away to family members the year that I wanted to as they were still in a moving box and didn’t find them until this past March!
Hmmm… Melissa sounds you like have a story here 🙂
