Good morning. 😀
Another lovely day here in Minnesota and no, I am not being sarcastic. Currently 27 degrees I can not (WILL NOT) complain as yesterday at this time it was 9 degrees. Looks like Saturday will much be the same and Brrr….. to the Polar Bear Plunge, but well… that’s days away. 😛
So…
my hubby snores.
Yup. Al snores. I don’t think it bothers me if I am already asleep but if I am just getting cozy….
I am not sleeping during the snore fest.
A couple of years ago I discovered that if I took a corner of his pillow and pulled just a wee bit that would cause him to roll over or readjust and the snoring would stop. I was Queen of all those who snore and life went back to quiet nights and happy mornings…
Until two nights ago.
It started with the snores…
I did the pillow tweak.
A voice said, “Don’t pull on my pillow.”
Whaaaa…..?
“Don’t pull on my pillow.”
B U S T E D
For the first time since I started making happy sleep time for both of us with the “pillow tweak and sleep” I was discovered. He did not want to hear about my successful run of two years (Gold medal worthy I am sure…) without him ever knowing the secret to my sleep success….
Oh well. 😳
Yesterday evening was Bookies book club at my home and between the delicious food (hello Gym membership!) and the fantastic discussion surrounding the book Wench by Dolen Perkins-Valdez (review up tomorrow) it was a wonderful evening.
Oh course, right before Al went to bed he said,
“Don’t pull on my pillow.”
GAH! I need a new tactic…… 😛

Ha ha ha! Your post cracked me up. You were totally busted!
I was Julie! 😛
This is hilarious! I literally laughed out loud… luckily, no one is home except the cat. Still, I’m pretty sure she looked at me strangely.
I’m definitely trying the pillow trick tonight! Maybe it will get me through two years as well 😉
Thanks Jesse – I think it is laugh worthy 😛
Kitty will get over the outburst I am sure.
The pillow tug can be successful, that’s for sure. You’ll have to share when you land on a new technique! :p
I hope I can think of something Hannah… but for now… I think he is watching me too closely. 😛
Ah yes, patience is a prerequisite.
I can not find that in my marriage vows… oh yeah, there it is …. “love is patient”…. 😀
That’s hilarious, Sheila…Ah, there’s nothing like snoring, though, to disturb the sleep.
I’ve shared rooms with snorers over the years…not just husbands. Once in a hotel suite with a friend, the snores were loud enough to raise the rafters. If there’d been any rafters…LOL
Good luck on perfecting the tweak.
Thanks Laurel – I am open to suggestions 🙂
Funny – and not! I can relate. My husband is a world record snorer. When he would go on camping trips the guys would laugh at how he would clear out a cabin. They asked me how I could sleep but I guess I had gotten used to it.
A year or so ago they diagnosed him with sleep apnea and gave him a breathing machine. Now I am occasionally awoken with the whooshing sound of the breathing machine but for the most part he gets more rest and so do I. *BG*
We have friends who the hubby has a sleeping machine…. I am glad it helps for both of you 🙂
I’ve not tried the pillow tug. I’ll have to do that. So far I’ve just gone with a quick poke and have been busted on occasion. I’m looking forward to seeing what works for you next.
Hmmm…. poking? 😛
Thanks Theresa!
Oh no! Give him a sharp jab in the ribs and that will wake him up – he will soon start to appreciate the pillow tugging!
Glad your weather is picking up – it was chilly but sunny here today so didn’t know whether to wrap up or strip off!!! 😀
He keeps such long hours I hate to wake him up… he said after the “pillow tug bust” he couldn’t get back to sleep the rest of the night….
GAH….. 😛
Yep, totally busted now! Hmmm… Ear plugs?
Hmmmm…. maybe. 😛
Thank goodness for the sleep apnea machine. For five years I was not able to sleep next to my hubby. I don’t even hear the machine! Have him get tested.
Kathy
Thats a good idea Kathy -its not every night – or if it I am in too deep a sleep to hear it…. but the nights I do…. 😯
OMG…my husband started that noise making too and he ordered a mouth guard from England…and now we both sleep in a totally quiet room…it is amazing…
Wow – thats a new idea to me Patty! 😀
Hilarious post, Sheila! You’re too nice, I just rip the entire pillow out from under my snoring partner’s head and place it over his face. I do allow a small gap for breathing. 🙂
Oh that is awesome Jill! LOL…. I always joke with the quality of pillows today I am not sure I could smother him anyway 😀
I hope you find a new tactic that works soon! I push on my husband’s shoulder and that’s usually enough to get him to roll over and stop snoring. Unfortunately he sometimes thinks that I’m waking him up to go to work and then gets upset when he’s downstairs getting things together and realizes it’s 3:30 in the morning. 🙂
Oh that would be awful Alyce! Al (hubby) gets up around 5 am so he is that way too… he will check the clock and see that it is not time to get up. 🙂
What a great story! I won’t tell you what I’ve done with my snorer. Nope. Not telling.
Oh Nancy – now you know I want to know!!! 😀
Ha! I just push my husband a little, and if that doesn’t work, I push harder! Of course, I snore too, so he has to do the same to me. I often wake up and say “What??” really loud when he does it to me. Hee hee!
LOL Julie 😀
Thanks for the suggestion… I will definitely try pulling the pillow. Not sure why I hadn’t thought of that before. I usually do a tickle on the nose which results in a flailing arm to swat away the annoying tickle causing him to roll and the snoring to stop. But it can also be … ummm… dangerous.
Leslie that does sound dangerous! 😛
I tried pulling the pillow. Didn’t work. After three pulls I went back to tickle the nose. He hasn’t caught on yet and I can sleep.
I am looking forward to your review of Wench! I just finished it myself!
I am looking forward to posting it Erin!
Lol, This morning post really got me laughing.
Good 😀
Too funny! I have the opposite issue. My hubby complains of my snoring, which I feel horrible about and can’t figure out how to stop it. Poor hubby.
I dont have the answers Kristen…. wish I did. 😀
My husband has the sleep apnea machine and I thought the whoosing would keep me awake but after I got used to it, it was like white noise. Now I wake up if it stops.
Before he got that, I used to just turn over with a lot of commotion which woke him up just enough to make him turn over. Lots of luck, Sheila.
I do like the fan on when I sleep – maybe a “woosh” wouldnt be so bad… better than a
SNORE! 😉
It sounds like the snoring is just a little annoying, but if it really is a problem you should look into the Pillar Procedure (http://pillarprocedure.com) — it’s a quick procedure that takes care of snoring without the pillow-tugging or weird machines. (And side note, give the Sookie Stackhouse books a chance! Brain candy yes, but so much fun!)
My husband used to snore until he lost some weight … then it disappeared! Before that I used to make him use breathing strips and throat sprays … none of them worked very well though.
