Morning Meanderings

Good morning.  I had a terrible crummy day yesterday.  I had a large project due for an important meeting taking place at 6 pm and it just did not come together as quickly as I had hoped.  I get off work at 3 and was watching the sun come out in the afternoon and I was excited to get in an afternoon bike ride.  Missing all of Tuesday had put me behind and I thought I could still do it in time, but life happens, the internet went down, the printer quit working, it was a busy office day and at 6 pm, I was still finishing up the project.

At 6 pm, we also had dinner plans across town with friends.  Needless to say – we were late.  We got there at 6:40.  I would describe myself as haggard.

Ever notice how time with friends can heal anything?  Within 15 minutes I feel myself relaxing, we are laughing, catching up and although I feel like I am 50 years older and so tired I could lay my head at the restaurant table, I had a fantastic time.

So….  today I am watching the weather… it is supposed to snow today and tonight I am supposed to be heading to Maplewood Minnesota for tomorrows bike ride.  I am trying to be optimistic.  😀

Todays forcast:

Today

Rain in the morning…then rain or snow in the afternoon. Snow accumulation around an inch. Highs 40 to 45. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight:  Cloudy. Snow likely in the evening…then a chance of snow after midnight. Snow accumulation of 2 to 3 inches. Total snow accumulation 3 to 4 inches. Lows 30 to 35. with winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent.

But tomorrow – here and Maplewood is supposed to be partly sunny and 50’s.  I would prefer full sun and 65… but you know…

I am off to the gym now, need to work off the rest of yesterdays stress and get on with my day.  In a few hours I will post the books choice someone chose for me on the Choose The Book I Read next post.  It’s not to late to put in your two cents if you havent already 🙂

  1. There is snow in our forecast for tonight here in Northern Wisconsin also…I feel your pain! Good luck with the bike race tomorrow.

  2. I hope that the weather improves for you tomorrow. I flatted yesterday-YIKES I only have 60 miles on the bike. Some nice man fixed it for me. I am ashamed to say I do not have a repair kit as I have not found a cute bag for the bike-I think I am putting on an ugly bag.

    1. Esme – if it makes you feel better…. I do carry everything t change a tire with me but have no idea how. 🙂

So far I have not had a flat….. I have close to 650 miles on this bike…. fingers crossed 😀

(Oh and the bag I have on the back of my bike for long road trips is huge and carries a change of clothes, dry socks, tools, snacks, 2 spare tire tubes, pump, rain gear, gum, cell phone, camera, and flip video.) It is not pretty – but it is functional – LOL

    1. Laurel I just got back from the gym and current temp is 41 degrees. Yes, I have weather envy 😀

I am hoping the weekend is super too Laurel 🙂 Thanks!

  3. Snow in May? What’s wrong with Mother Nature? Here in NJ we’re swinging back and forth between the 50’s and the 80’s, nothing in between. I’d be thrilled if it just stayed in the 70’s!

Hope you have a great weekend to make up for your crummy day!

    1. Alexia in March and April we had 70’s almost every day which is so weird for us. I was hopeful that was a hint of what our spring and summer would be like…

Thanks for the weekend wishes – hope yours is great too!

  4. And I thought St. Louis was bad. But snow in May? Not sure I could handle that. I bet it’s beautiful in the summer time though.

Thanks for my book, Sheila. Got it in the mail yesterday.

    1. Hi Lynne – glad you got the book! 😀

Last year we were robbed of a summer…. it was cooler and rainy most of the months I usually love.

Normal summers are gorgeous here – 70 and 80’s … I practically live on my deck every spare moment I have catching the rays and reading a book. 😀

  5. You would have gained a couple of hours here in Italy as we would never meet up for a meal earlier than 8- 8.30pm.

Hope today is a better one for you.

    1. LindyLouMac – that’s about the time my husband goes to bed…LOL

Thanks Lindy – you made me smile with thoughts of Italy. How is your weather?

  6. I am sorry you had such a crummy day. It must have been in the air. My day was crummy to. I am glad you had a good time with friends. There is something about good friends and good food that makes everything okay again:)

    1. Thanks Vicki, my cousin in law (my cousins wife) Rhonda emailed me this morning and said no snow or rain at this time in their forecast for tomorrow – it will be cooler out, but I think I can handle that 😀

  7. Hi Sheila, Sorry I have not been around, but some days there are not enough hours as we all know. It does sound like a stress filled day you had yesterday, I hope your weekend is fabulous.

    1. Thanks Diane 🙂 I hear you on being busy – I dont get around to the blogs as much as I did in the winter months…. I miss that time of blog hopping 🙂

  8. Thank heavens for friends! You are lucky to have had that dinner date scheduled. It is just what you needed. It is awful when things don’t fall together like they should. If coworkers and bosses are understanding, the rough patches can be weathered well. When you have a supervisor who really doesn’t have a clue (my daughter has that problem right now) it makes life impossible.
Exercise hard and work out the rest of the stress.

    1. Pat I was lucky to have the dinner planned. As much as I just wanted to go home and curl up in a ball… the friend time pulled me out of my funk. 🙂

Hmmmm... what do you think?
