It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

It is Monday!  I am currently reading my book club book that is up for review tomorrow, Home For The Holidays be Rebecca Kelly.  This will also make it on to my Holiday Reading Challenge!  Tomorrow is our 100th book club meeting!  Any suggestions for something cool to do?  It is our Christmas potluck meeting and I am bringing a cake to celebrate the big 100 but have been racking my brain for months for a reasonably priced something to give each of them to commemorate this milestone!  I am currently thinking book marks….

ANYWAY…. 😉

Here is the reading plan for this week:

Yup there is a theme here.  Working on the Christmas spirit so have pulled out three Christmas related books that will hopefully push me in the right direction since so far I really am not there (I don’t even have my tree up yet).

A Blue and Gray Christmas by Joan Medlicott

What a Christmas! by B R Roberts

Secrets of a Christmas Box by S Hornby

and for a book tour on Wednesday…

Gringo’s In Paradise:  Our Honduras Odyssey by Malana Ashlie (chosen to read becuase of my Honduras experiences)

Over the weekend I was reading two of the books that were on my list for last weeks post and suddenly just felt that I needed a break.  This resulted in my pulling Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone off the shelf and curling up with the old friend I found within the pages.

**Reminder that on Dec 20th we will be reviewing and discussing The Heretic’s Daughter for the online book club, Word Shakers.  All are welcome to join in!  Let me know in a comment and I will be sure to include you in the email questions.

How about you?  What are you reading this week?  Be sure to link your post up over at J Kaye’s Blog so we can all stop over and see!

  1. Can’t wait to hear about your 100 book club discussion – I should count our books read, we must be close too. We meet next week – let me know if you have any great ideas (I am not hosting though to it can’t be too crazy!).

I just finished April and Oliver – I recommend this book. You will feel like you are watching a friend deal with life and the decisions she made (beyond her control).

We will be discussing this book with the author next month – I can’t wait!

    1. Hi Mari – I am excited about it. There are only two of us now that been there since meeting one, myself and one other girl. Its hard to do something too big as there are currently 18 active members in this group!

      Your book sounds good!

  2. I finally got my tree up yesterday which is more than a week later than usual. I kept waiting for the mood to hit and it just hasn’t. Maybe I need to start baking to get into the mood!

  3. Sounds like fun to read a bunch of Christmas-themed books. I always wonder whether these kinds of books are any good or whether they’re more of a gimmick. What do you think? I haven’t read any myself, other then a Janet Evanovich one a few years ago (something about Sugar Plum…?)

I LOVED the Heretic’s Daughter – I’ll look into the online book discussion you mentioned.

    Thanks!
    Sue

    1. Hi Sue, I am hoping they are good – I have read some in the past that have been great and then some that are fluff….

Last year read A Christmas Carol and loved it!

That would be great if you could join in on The Heretics Daughter discussion. 🙂

  4. I’m trying to get to the Heretic’s Daughter in time for our discussion. I have several tours I’m trying to finish books for right now. I have been a bit behind in posting due to finals being next and I’m frantically trying to catch up on grading projects and assignments.

    Enjoy your meeting! 🙂

  5. I’ve been getting my fill of made for tv Christmas flicks to put me in the spirit. I look forward to this time of year if only for the warm fuzzy movies that go with it. I’m enjoying the Secrets of a Christmas Box so far. Hope you enjoy it as well.

  6. Oops I thought that we were not reviewing the Heretic’s Daughter until January. What about book plates. You could do a little bag with bookmarks, buy a box of book marks and divide them up and throw in some packets of speciality hot chocolate or tea.

  7. I’m still trucking through Stephen King’s “Under the Dome” this week. With it being finals time at work, I am grading more than I am reading, but that should change soon. When finals are over and done, I’ll have tons of quality reading time to get through the stacks of books I have lined up.

  8. Some wonderful holiday reading there. I’m obviously going to have to invest in some seasonal stories – I would have thought our libraries would have kept a good stock, sadly I was wrong. Happy reading.

  9. Bookmarks are a great idea. Or Christmas ornaments! If you decide to add another Christmas book you ought to read Blue Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews. She’s one of my favorite author’s.

I haven’t started a new book since I finished The Ghost and the Femme Fatale but I think my next one is going to be a paranormal Christmas anthology.

  10. Hope you had a great time at your book club! I’m not feeling the Christmas spirit yet, so maybe I’ll try baking. Love baking Christmas cookies, so will see if that helps. Thanks!

Hmmmm... what do you think?
