Morning Meanderings…

I as I sat up form bed this morning and looked out my window I see the light covering of snow that has salted its way across our yard.

First word of the day, “Ugh.”

For a Minnesota girl you would think this would be my thing.  It’s not.  It’s cold.  It’s wet.  It’s sloppy.  And it can really suck to drive in it too.  The game plan is someday we are not here for this part of Minnesota.  We hope to start leaving in November for warmer territory, and returning in mid March in time for warm up.  We have friends in the area that do this and stay in Florida.  We also have family in Florida….

Hmmmm…..

So is everyone getting the emails now for book sales at the big name stores?  Just this morning I received these two:

Christianbooks.com :  Has a huge selection of 80% off items.  I checked it out.  There are some great buys!  A whole selection of items under $2.

  • Randy Alcorn’s Deception is $1.99 (if you have not read Alcorn you are missing out!  Fantastic author!
  • Gift items too – cd’s for 99 cents…

Also Barnes and Noble has a 25% coupon off of one book if you use your Mastercard on your order.

Amazon is having Black Friday Deals Week going on now.  I seen a few things of interest there as well!

So thats what I have to share this morning.  I have a day in the office than off to the store to get all the things that I have procrastinated on for tomorrow.   I am purchasing two copies of Hunger Games for my boys and I will be baking out of the book healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day for tomorrows review.

Have you discovered any great book sales?

Do you have any reading plans for the upcoming 4 day weekend?

  1. Snow! I second that “ugh”. Oddly enough we haven’t got any up here in Ottawa yet, but I’m guessing if you got it, ours is on the way. I wish I spent half my year somewhere warm too!

Thanks for the tips on the sales… time to start the online holiday shopping I guess!

    1. HI Jody, I am not a big fan of snow. Ideally I think I would be ok with a green Christmas…. maybe grilling ham on the bbq…. chilling in our lawn chairs.
      I can always dream 🙂

  2. I am feeling rather envious of you now. We never get snow, at present England is being hit by gale force winds and torrential rain. We have this for 3 weeks now and many towns have been flooded. It is a little scary and I hope it will end soon.

I am also envious of your four day weekend. I do believe we need a celebration in November too, where we can just chill for four days before the onslaught of Christmas. As you take it easy, think of me rushing around trying to get my Christmas shopping finished!
Have a great Thanksgiving. Save me some pumpkin pie.

    1. Oh Vivienne – your weather sounds awful! I hope it passes soon! I agree,,, you do need a 4 days weekend – it should be mandatory world wide! 🙂

Come over for pie any time 🙂

  3. Oh Sheila,

Doesn’t is just make you happy though (the snow)? Doesn’t it just get you in the mood for Christmas and the holiday festivities? I got a text last night/early this morning (crazy freshmen!) that said it was snowing. So when I woke up this morning I looked out my window hoping for a bit of white glitter on the ground – nothing. Nothing! Very depressing.

Anyway…BOOKS! YAY! I’m bringing a boy home for Thanksgiving (scary I know) and so I think I may have to miss out on Black Friday, so I appreciate Amazon’s black friday deals for sure? Are you going into Cloud?

    1. HI Reagan 🙂 I really am anti snow…. I only found it pretty once … that was last year. It had froze on the trees overnight and it seriously looked like Narnia.

When I first read your comment I thought you said you were bringing a book home and I was thinking thats not so scary…. but a boy! LOL 🙂

Have a great Thanksgiving! 🙂 I am not going to St Cloud for a few weeks…. not a black Friday shopper. We may actually head to the cabin on Friday since both the boys will be back doing their things.

      1. I don’t blame you. When I was in Germany, we lived in a duplex. It’s much different than living in a home where you have to clean off the snow from your car, roof, etc. I didn’t like getting out in that mess to drive either. No, you aren’t a Scrooge. You’re smart. Snow isn’t fun unless you can pick and choose when to get in it.

Hmmmm... what do you think?
