Morning Meanderings… Don’t Just Pin It!!!

Good morning!  :D  *lifts coffee cup to mouth “ow ow ow!!!”*  *Puts coffee cup back on table “ow ow owww”*

Yup, I went back to kick boxing last night after ten months off and I feel AWESOME.  Well and sore this morning, but in a good way.  HOnestly there is something about putting gloves on and bashing a friend that well, brings peace to the world….

Ok, I didn’t bash her… but she did ask me not to hit so hard.

I can’t explain it but it just felt good.  It made me feel strong and I love that feeling.  I am no good at this.  I dont remember the moves and the long chains of commands from the teacher with the “do this, this this, then this this this, then that and this , with a double that and end with 14 this and 6 that with a double twist of that”… yeah…. I get lost.

BUT… I will get better.  And I am determined.

So…. has anyone else besides me caved and joined Pinterest?  I wasn’t going to you know… I wasn’t.  I didnt need another time suck in my life and I knew from the little I had seen of it that it would be just that….. pretty shiny pictures drawing me in… craft projects I think look cool but really when would I fit that in…..  but then during The Dewey Read A Thon it was brought to my FULL attention that Pinterest and book reviews do mix.  Once I was told that when you pin your book covers to Pinterest it links back to the review (if you link it from the post), AND that people have been picking up significant visitors that way….

suddenly I was listening.

So yes, now the past few weeks I have been pinning not only books from the blog, but I also found fitness tips, recipes, things I want to look at more closely and things that I think are funny… and life has been blissful…. pin this, pin that….

and then…

Trish from Love, Laughter, and a Touch of Insanity totally calls me out on this:

Oh come on…

now I can’t only pin it, but I also have to do something with it?

GAH….

But she is right… I have pinned and pinned but I have not cooked one thing, tried one project…. so anyhoo…. I am in on this.  :D  You can click the picture above and read her whole post.

In other news, yesterday I put up a read-a-long, check it out.  :D  Cami’s fitness giveaway is still going on…  and if you want to be my friend on Pinterest (or whatever it is called there…. ) I am Sheila DeChantal (and I think this is a link.)

  1. I can’t believe you caved! I’m so proud of you Sheila!! :) I love all thing Pinterest!

  2. Yay Yay Yay!!! I’m so glad that you’re joining us for the Pinterest Challenge. I can’t WAIT to see what everyone does this month–and a few people on Twitter have already gotten started with projects.

Have fun! :) And thanks for helping me spread the word.

  3. I didn’t know you could pin from your reviews. Nice!!

    • Yes! That was the sell for me! :D Click on your post first, so that is the address it will link too… then pin. If someone clicks on your pic it will go to your review :D

  4. As you know, I ended up joining, too; it wasn’t as much of a “time suck” as I initially thought it would be…but only because I’m trying to limit my visits there.

Ha-ha…anyway, I do like getting those e-mails that tell me someone has pinned something or started following, so I can go there and find more stuff.

    Thanks for sharing….

  5. Pinterest can be such a time suck, but I love it! I can’t wait to see what you do for the challenge!

  6. I love Pinterest! thanks for the tips! =)

  7. I just recently caved and signed up with Pinterest. I’d been avoiding it because I’m not really the arts&crafts type, and I don’t like to cook, and I thought that was what it was all about. I’ve been thrilled to find tons of book pins, quote pins, geek pins, and more! I’ve even started a board for all the geeky t-shirts I want to buy! :)

  8. I have pint rest, but I’m not sure how it works yet. I’m slow with this stuff. It took me ages to figure out how to use Twitter. I’m not against social media, I just don’t want them to overlap. Each one needs a specific function or else I’m not bothering.

  9. There’s a thought, never thought about pinning my book reviews. Will have to start a new board. I’ve had one for a little while, but don’t use it much. But I did use it to find a hairstyle I liked, which I took to my salon for my hair cut.

  10. I’m all about anything that makes you feel strong. I think it would be fun to try kick-boxing … but maybe I need to get in shape first! : )

And I’m avoiding Pinterest as I thought it was all crafts and stuff. Didn’t know it could be tied into book reviews. Hmmmm……

    • Yup! I will have to find that blog that they talked about it on.. it is one of the mini challenges on Dewey read a thon… I think it may have been Joy’s Book Blog. (pretty sure that is the one :D )

  11. I WAS NOT going to even go to the Pinterest site, no way, no how. But…all it takes is one little itty bitty thing to catch your attention at just the right time, in my case it was seeing a Pinterest post notice on someone’s FB page, and BAM, you’re sucked in. And I LOVE it!

  12. I am new to Pinterest and have only a few things pinned. I have heard that libraries are using Pinterest too but not too sure about what that involves. I think it is a great idea to link back to reviews. I may have to try that. Thanks!

  13. Almost all of my boards are book related, with the exception of my photos from Hawaii. I agree, I should head back to Hawaii ASAP. :)
