Morning Meanderings… Sunday Salon Bloggiesta Style!

WAIT!!!!!!  Don’t go!  It’s me Sheila!  You are at the right place it just looks different around here.  Ummm…. here is what happened.

So I am doing Bloggiesta this weekend and if you don’t know what that is it is a weekend set aside to catch up on reviews and bloggy maintenance type things as well as learning new things like SEO and HTML, and how to bring traffic to your blog.  What happened was I was going to clean up my sidebars, you know… take out old things, put in new, update…. stuff like that.  Something I have been meaning to do for a while.  I then thought, are two side bars too much?  Is that too busy?  A lot of blogs I read have one sidebar…. so I chose a new theme…. that really goofed things up for a while and I am still not happy with where my header lies, and I still have to update the sidebar.

*sigh*

The mad side of Bloggiesta…

So anyway…Good morning!  WOOT! As you can tell from what I have said so far the weekend has been busy – but fun.  I love going around and seeing what other bloggers are doing.  I love participating in the mini challenges and learning new things.  My own mini challenge, which is about driving blog traffic, is still active for the rest of today.  Stop by, check it out… you may find something useful as well as the other challenges too.

As for what arrived bookish like this week, that is a two-part story.  Below are the books, and the DVD I received in the mail for review:

The Thirteen, Aleppo Code, More Like Her, We Heard The Heavens Then, Sunday Salon

Yes.  That is Alvin and The Chipmunks, Chipwrecked.  Do not judge.  😛  And the creepy cover of Thirteen calls to me… so what does that say?

The second half of this story is I received a SWEET box of YA books from a publisher this week that had me dancing around the house.  I posted about this on Friday and you can check it out, shooose what I read first and you could win it!  😀   Seriously!  Go check it out.  😀

As far as today, I have church here in about mmmm….. 15 minutes.  And then I am coming back to Bloggiesta until late morning when hubby and I have to deliver a trailer to another town so I will be MIA for about an hour… but then back to the blog.  Things I still want to accomplish today.

What is your Sunday plan?  Are you on the Bloggiesta wagon?  If so what are you LOVING?  If not, watcha doing today?  Anything fun?

  1. I laughed when I saw the Chipmunk movie. My mom asked me why my friend and I didn’t go to a movie last week. I told her there was nothing to see. She replied that the new Chipmunks movie looked cute.

If you figure SEO, please write a post about it – I’ve tried to read up about it and don’t understand it.

    1. I laughed too Kathy…. I thought it might be fun to review, however I neglected to tell them I do not have blue ray yet…. may need to make that upgrade on the DVD player soon 😀

You are still on wordpress.com too right? From what I am gathering is a lot of this is done for us, but I will continue to investigate what we can do… thanks for the idea of the post.

  2. I’m working on a new design too, and am trying to work out the kinks before finalizing. Just when you think it looks okay, another glitch pops up! Really like the new background, and good luck with tweaking your layout!

  3. I like your new look. I have been wondering about two sidebars myself!! Good question. I’ll watch and see if you stick with your new look. I like the grey – like steel or sunlight. Nice.

I’m Bloggiesta-ing, I guess, I just haven’t had a minute to spend on my computer since I wrote my list. I have hopes for today, but it sounds like you’re better prepared to throw some time at it. I suppose I could stop visiting Sunday Saloners……….

    So many choices!!

    1. Hi Laura! 😀 I like the gray too… not sure about the header yet. I wanted something brighter to brighter up the look and wish I had some sort of talent at this 😀

I get caught up in commenting and visiting too and that can really take away your time… but I love it!

My weekend for the most part has been mellow so timing was awesome for this!

  4. After reading the sidebar mini challenge, I removed my sidebar. Something I have wanted to do for a while… All the buttons can be confusing and overwhelming to the eye. That said, our blog should show our personalities and be FUN!

Good luck with the rest of the day. I hope you love your final product. 🙂

    1. You removed it Mari? That is so awesome… I think I am a sidebar junky…. when I made this change I lost half of my links… (love it when I make more work for myself 😯 )

Now I have side bar work to do – but before I go to all that trouble I want to be sure this is the layout I want.

I will have to pop over and see what you have done 😉

      1. I have a final version up (6PM)… it tool a LOT of work to write the HTML correctly.

I can’t wait to visit blogs the next day/two to see all the changes.

  5. I wanted to do Bloggiesta, but I had to work yesterday and then there was that thing called The Final Four. Stupid basketball anyway ;).

As for what you’re being drawn to the creepy cover of Thirteen say about you, it says you’re a FREAK! Sorry, have to be honest. 🙂

    1. LOL…. thanks for calling me out. 😛

You can still check out all the bloggiesta tips on the blogs after it is over… I know I will be gig back and re-reading some of the challenges yet this week.

  6. Interestingly, last week-end, when I was in a commenting mood, I was finding it hard to comment on some people’s blogs. Not because of technical issues like WordPress or blogger; but because the posts didn’t really leave me much to say at all! I didn’t want to leave a “nice review” comment – it seems so lame! Then I realized that I needed to encourage comments on my own blog as well. I started included convo starters at the end of each review. Interestingly, though it’s driven up comments up nominally on the blog, most of the exchanges have been on twitter!
When I saw your min-challenge I LOL-ed owing to the coincidence in timing! I’m not officially a part of blogggiesta; but I happened to be working on the commenting thing! I think I can handle commetning on three other blogs a day and; twenty over the weekends.

    1. That is funny Tanya! It is a work in progress that is for sure! I dont spend a lot of time on Twitter, when I do I see a few responses on their but mostly they are on the blog. Hope you are able to do the 20 for the mini challenge! 😀

  7. Not even remotely interested in Bloogiesta…I don’t even know how to pronounce it…

I loved the header you had yesterday…

    1. Patty it is a lot of fun 😀 I did not like the way the header layed yesterday with the words overlapping and blocking part of the pic… I couldn’t figure out how to fix it. I am using almost the same header today – just a little tweak so pics and words do not run together. I am still working on this layout – it will not be pink when I am done.

  8. Oh my goodness, I did think I was in the wrong place at first! Every time I play with my layout I have so much trouble getting it how I want it that I have kind of stopped even trying. One day when I have more time on my hands perhaps. I took my children to the discount theater to see Chipwrecked and I liked it well enough. My husband complained that there was no plot, but the kids loved it! Have fun with the rest of your weekend plans!

    1. HI Jill… the downfall of changing up the blog, I will know where I am going when a click a link and then where I get there I think :where am I?” and have to scroll to the top to see who’s blog I am on 😀

I will watch Chipwrecked sometime this week 🙂

  9. I really like your new layout and colours! I’ve called it a day Bloggiesta-wise, but am poking around to see what other people have accomplished.

Hmmmm... what do you think?
